4-3-1-2 is the formation thats going to work with this team. With the one position R80 being free to roam behind the 2 strikers or R70 can play that spot if R80 is on the bench.

And like all of us agree were waaaayy to slow in the midfield. We need to have the energy of the Lecce game the second half of Auxerre game. Get the 2-0 lead then slowly rest and attack when you please.

We can't play with Seedorf and Pirlo in the mid in the same game, they are really dragging the tempo.

And like always Bonera should never be seen in a Milan uniform.

I'm seriously changing opinion on Allegri. This stinks. We are still the same old ****, we're even worse than we were last year. I hope Allegri wakes up fast. Where the hell is the master tactician from Cagliari????????

My ratings :
Abbiati 6.0 : Nothing to do except for a shot travelling at the speed of light
Nesta 5.0: Showed some of his class, but also some rare akward moments, bad positioning today
TS 6.0: Below par but decent enough
Bonera 2.0: He tried, I give him credit for that, and he made me miss Oddo, he should get a 10.0 for that. Time for Sokratis or Abate..
Antonini 2.0: He also tried and that's it. Got burned defensively and was terrible going forward.
Pirlo 4.0: A weak captain, needs to take the command more, was closed down a lot and spread weak passes.
Boateng 8.0: A good display from him, again, the only one playing with heart and running like hell.
Seedorf 5.0: Slow as usual, showed some sparks in the beginning but wasn't able to do anything really
Ronaldinho 6.0: Wasn't really able to pass his man, predictable moves and lost control of the ball a lot. Credit for the assist though.
Ibrahimovic 5.0: Quite anonymous
Inzaghi 6.0: Scored his goal, missed another great chance, but really in general he shouldn't be relied on anymore for a complete match.
----
Odu: Clearly inexperienced, didn't do anything; would have rather seen Abate.
Gattuso: Not enough time to have any impact, was only able to stomp away one ball before the whistle went.

As Uncle Fester was leaving the stands at 92 minutes, I could totally put one of those cartoon bubbles above his head.

It would read: "Oh $hit, I hired the wrong coach...."

Get your tactics in order Allegri! You've costed us 5 points and counting!!!!!!

I think its too early for us to scream doomsday for this team. Sure, today's game, as well as last week's game, was horrible, but I believe it should be expected. The truth of the matter is, Ibra and Robinho didn't join us until our new season has already started. They both missed our entire training camp. Without them being there, our entire game plan was designed differently. That means, we have to spend a lot of time to try and change our tactics to fit in Ibra and Binho. A couple of bad performances will truly allow Allegri to figure out what this team can and should do on the field. Once the team truly develops its chemistry, I believe we will see a much better Milan.

I agree its not doomsday but we shouldnt be this bad. The only thing that makes me nervous is we got a nice easy start to a season with our schedule and we're not taking advantage of it.

Milan had very little time to prepare for this match, while Catania had the whole week.

It is always like this, the clubs playing in the european cups will suffer against the other teams.

We are Milan, we have more talent, we must win these games, especially this one. Damn, Cesena pressed us like mad dogs, but tonight, we can't say the pressing of Catania was very effective ... They even let us play in their half. Despite that, we didn't manage to create anything, especially in first half, and worse, we played like amateurs when we lost some balls and twice or three times, it resulted by 2/3 vs 1 player situations. Simply unacceptable for a club like us.

I don't blame Allegri, one single player or any other people, I just blame the whole team, how is it possible ? After the first 3 vs 1 situation (also happened against Auxerre !!), I don't know, someone in the team should have said something to the others and ask them to defend. But no, few minutes after, the same exact situation happened again. It's not possible.

The Milan of tonight simply scared me.

You know what, I like Allegri, I was excited when he was hired, and I have not put any blame on him so far, but a coach, coaching AC MILAN, playing at home, with Catania and the result at half time is 1:1 and he waits till 80th min to make his first move, and his second move was putting in Gattuso (what the **** is he now a attacking midfielder???) PLEASEEEEEE !!!! This game total blame on Allegri, lets hope he will learn.

I am absolutely FURIOUS right now.....

Positives:

* Nesta and T. Silva looked pretty good.. T. Silva smooth, and nice shot
* Kevin-Prince Boateng Excellent Passion, Energy, feistyness..reminded me of Gattuso in his prime + Speed + Crossing ability + in the box for Headers... He is a starter...

Negatives:

* As I've said recently in other posts, PIRLO is FINISHED... He's awful.. He looks as if he couldn't CARE LESS since he won the World Cup 2006. He does not deserve to be on the field.. He's slow, and all he does his send high long balls to Ronaldinho, and he loses the ball more than he makes a successful Pass

* Inzaghi is a sub, 70th minute or later for a Goal.. He had no chemistry with Ibrahimovic.. I would have preferred this:
--------Ibra----------
R80----------KPB---

* Midfield is slow, awful with Pirlo and Seedorf...

* What the hell was with Antonini, Ronaldinho, and Seedorf playing footsies in the corner with each other all game.. Did they want to hold hands or something???????????

* Bonera should never play ANOTHER GAME unless it's Coppa Italia or practice games ...END OF STORY.. ODDO, PAPA WAY BETTER..ODDO for sure BETTER...

* Antonini did not provide 1 cross all game.. if he can't cross with his left..tell the coach..and play on the Right.. then tell Berlusconi to go out and get a PROPER Left Back.... like Coentrao, Michel Bastos, Gareth Bale, or someone else...

I'm simply furious right now.... I hope this is the END of this Bull*hit formation

----------Pirlo-------------------
KPB---------------Seedorf
------------------------------------Ronaldinho???
------Ibra---Inzaghi-------------

*Ronaldinho is so predictable as if he's attached to the line, he can't come in once, he just cuts in and crosses... More and more I'm thinking I want this in January... END OF STORY

----------------------AMELIA-------------------------
Antonini--------Nesta---T. Silva-----------Coentrao
---------Boateng-----Jucilei--------Flamini-------------------
------------------------Robinho-----------------------------
-------------------Pato---Ibrahimovic----------------------

Ambrosini, Pirlo, Seedorf are finished.. Inzaghi is a sub player.. and Ronaldinho if he doesn't show more unpredictability, put his smiling ass on the bench.....

I now realize the game Vs. LECCE was a fluke.. that team obviously sucks bad... because we have not looked even CLOSE to that level since that game...

I hope they make big changes, tactically, formationally, and as far as who they bring in in January... time for a FB and new Midfielders... a bunch of new attackers is just the start,,, it certainly does not SOLVE our problems...

Guys, let's just relax, this was just third game and we're already putting the blame on the coach.

Even great Arrigo Sacchi needed 10 games to make the team play like he wanted, and he had MUCH better players selection. Let's give a chance to Allegri.

Allegri already did a great thing, he asked for Robinho because it was obvious that Ronaldinho doesn't fit in all-moving football Allegri likes to play. If Leonardo is still here, he would let Ronaldinho smiling and coolly walking down the touchline.

I think our biggest problem is that Pato and Ronaldinho, or whoever plays on the side, don't care to track back. That's why we have three midfielders stretched between center and the sides. Robinho's tracking back against Auxerre was great, and that's the way Ronaldinho and Pato should do. If not, put one of them on the bench and play Robinho in 4-3-1-2. We must have at least 4 players defending in midfield all the time.

Allegri must deal with these players just like Ancelotti did. I'll give you a chance, if you want to keep your ass smiling and you don't care what I told you to do - I'll put you on the bench.

Again, it's just a rhetoric, I didn't saw this game, but I saw Auxerre game and I can assure you that wasn't the way Allegri wants to play. In his Cagliari team last year, only one player could coolly walk when team is defending.

Just something I found from one of those comments from Goal.
I hate to admit it, but I have to agree with most of the points on hand....

4)Longballs,longballs, and longballs.
a 5 years old kid who watched a couple of games would know whats wrong with that! Now i know why Celino fired him.
And don't say he only started fitting players into his system from the first match. He had all summer to drill everyone else bar Ibra and Binho into his preferred system. Unless our players are all idiots who take over half a year to adapt to some new system, they should never be playing as disjointed as we've seen in the last 3 matches (CL included).
This leads to the conclusion that Allegri really doesn't know how to fit these players into a system, which calls into question of his tactical nous.
Simply.... Not good enough....

Seedorf and Pirlo are to bloodclaaat slow for top level football.. this is not masters league... Price Boateng isour only spark... y on earth did we try to play to Ibra so direct... no creativity... the one time we disguised a play into the box we scored... are the players our the coach so DUNCE that they couldnt see that from so near...i stayed all the way in Jamaica and see that even my girlfriend was able to see milan weaknesses!!!
i was once told that we got Ibra to win these games... like he did for Inter... he is unreliable!!! big game small game!!! get us Sheva clone DZEKO!!!!

We're all very pissed off. (we have every right) Soon as we switch to the 4-3-1-2 We will play a faster passing and running game , which will open up lanes for Ibra, Pato to get clean passes for the shots.

Allegri needs to figure things out and he better not be favoring players. Cant wait for Flamini return..... And someone said about the geling, you are correct the whole summer players have been together just Ibra and R70 came in late so no excuse. And no excuse for Catania getting a week to train against us. WE'RE MILAN. If we play Lecce again tomorrow we should kick their asses.

Forza Milan. Forza Onyewu over Bonera.
