Winter Mercato 2011

To get a non-EU striker in January is acceptable if we don't buy any other non-EU player. As far as I know, 1 non-EU per season is the rule, so if we don't use it this season, we won't get 2 spot for non-EU transfer for next season.

About transfer, we can actually get all three brasilians; Luiz, Jucilei and Ganso. Only Jucilei has no EU-pass If I remember correctly.

Any one, is Kaka coming back? Any hope of getting the Prince back?

I still think now Xavi has become a better player than Zidane & Pirlo & ACMILAN1983, few years back I heard about something like the 1998 world cup wiing French team was declared the 3rd best team in the world cup history behind Brazil-1970 & Germany-1990 or Germany-1974 (can't remember exactly). 2006 WC french team was full of legends as well

France 98 was nothing more than a fully defensive team playing on counter against the best teams, with one extra player in the midfeld (Zidane) and promising strikers.

IMO, France 98 = Greece 2004 but with more defensive talent and Zidane.

And it's because of the way France played at that time that their hardest games were against Paraguay (1-0 in extra-time, Laurent Blanc scoring) and Croatia (Thuram scoring). They also won during the penalties session against Italy after a 0-0 score.
In final, it's Zidane (twice) and Petit who scored.

All that shows that the strikers weren't that important in that team as in the most important games, they were unable to score (no goal from the 1/8 finals to the final).

The attack line was Henry, Trezeguet, Dugarry and Guivarch. In 1998, it wasn't great at all !! Oh, and Diomède too ...
Henry and Trezeguet exploded then, for the Euro 2000.

It's your opinion and you're entitled to it. The 1998 French team was brilliant, full of legends, but there was no question it also had a weak attack, with the exception of Zidane. I say this watching the team first hand. The 2006 side had a lot of big names, but that side played poorly and had an idiot in charge (Domenech). I don't think anyone expected much from that French side, despite the quality of the players.

Yes Certainly Nesta will end his career in Milan, and that season will be this season or next. Milan needs to carry on its tradition of having a TOP class Center Back pairing...

So Yes! We need to buy or create from our youth system a CB who will be able to partner Thiago Silva, our CB of the future.
However, besides David Luiz, who has shown very mixed performances, I don't know who else of high quality is really available. A year or so ago our dream was to bring Sergio Ramos here, but that will for sure not happen. While I am for bringing Brazilians or any other nationality of players to Milan, I also can't help but admit I wish not to turn into Inter Merda, but rather keep an Italian identity, especially in Defense if possible.

I think we need a FB, as Abate, Zambro, and Antonini are NOT good enough on any front (Europe or Serie A).

We also need an ACM (Attacking Central Midfielder) to replace Ronaldinho who will in all likelyhood leave along with the aging Clarence Seedorf and even Andrea Pirlo. Also, a 4th Striker (penalty box) is also important as it seems Inzaghi may be finito.

We really have a lot of issues to clear up, which I've noted many times, however, for JANUARY, I see FB, ACM, and Striker as more of a priority that will give an instantaneous boost, then in the summer, when we have more time, we'll need a CB.

We can't get a CB in January who is World Class and throw him on the bench... that won't happen, that's why I'm saying in the Summer.

France won because of their great defence, not until the final did Zidane do anything of note.

He has lived off the hype of this match for the rest of his career imo.

Honestly, i think ZZ only had two maybe three god games in WC98, but since he had his best game in the finals, people thought he did great and led the team. I think he showed what he was capable of in WC06 as he really led the team and was the WC best player. Sadly, he will be remembered as a hero and one of the best player due to WC98 while also the head butt in WC06.

Modern players (80s and on) have rarely gained reputations based on NT play, there are exceptions of course. Ask 100 people who rate Zidane highly and I guarantee you at least 75 mention club form.

i think imo r10(when he played for barca) was the most skillfull most amazing player i mean there werent words to describe how amazing he was.. it was magical people forget that..

Agreed. In terms of quality nothing that Messi and Xavi are doing now that Dinho didn't do in the past. Barca completely outplayed Madrid as a unit and among others those two players stood out. But the single greatest performance by an individual player in El Classico is that of Dinho when he scored a brace and was so spectacular that the Bernabeu crowds gave him a standing ovation when he was taken out. That speaks volume of his display that night. He is responsible for his premature downfall in the latter years but I think we and people as the whole tend to forget that quite easily.

And speaking about forgetting, if Galliani sounds like an idiot sometimes then he must be doing it on purpose. Several months ago he (and Braida) came out saying that the defense were all set with the addition of Yepes and Sokratis, and so were the attacking department. As it turned out later, he was discussing about Ibra's transfer and later on Robinho. And in case you forgot, we bought them both at discount prices. Now look at what those two have been doing so far for us. Not a bad job for an idiot huh?

And to address your concern for our fullback, yesterday Braida admitted that we've been following Van der Wiel for some time and he has convinced us of his quality. Braida also spoke highly of Jan Vertonghen but the he said that our priority is a striker, not defenders. "Yeah, yeah, he's good. But we don't really need him." Now doesn't that ring the bell?
