None of the formulas are perfect or sometimes even close to perfect. I don't disagree with Garganese in this case but just saying that in my opinion, generally speaking, criticism of FIFA and UEFA is often over the top.

I don't see any good reason why we should after Cassano.

He is NOT a trequartista, and for that position we already have Pirlo, Seedorf, even Boateng had played there. Not exactly the world beaters but they're far from bad either.

He is playing his best behind Pazzini as a SS, of which we have Zlatan and Robinho capable of doing.

Even if Dinho is sold, Cassano will spend most of his time on the bench. Now this is the biggest difference between them. Dinho NEVER make a fuss about it, in fact do you guys see how Binho often ran to him to celebrate his goal? While on the other hand Cassano ALWAYS make an a** of himself when things don't go his way. This is the player who denounced Capello and Spaletti both on and off the field, who needed to be dragged out of the field after being shown red card, who threw his shirt at the referee.

He will change his behavior in a team like Milan? Haha. Isn't that what many people said when he shone for Sampdoria, that after all these years he's a changed man? Yeah right! Hahaha

ACM aka Trequartista. a player who sits behind forwards, usually indicative of being creative (good passer, dribbler).

*** Kaka is not a trequartista as his characteristics are more of a SS, he shoots and dribbles more, runs at defenders, he does not setup play, or help out in the midfield as much.

they are not trequartisti, they are AMF, an AMF and a Trequartista are not the same thing imo.

That was one great article. As UEFA is turning into one big joke. What happened to their Fair Play model?

In the modern game, there are 3 situations in which ACM (Attacking Central Midfielder) is implemented.

4-3-1-2

-------Striker---Striker---------
-------------ACM----------------
------MF-----MF-----MF---------

4-2-3-1

-----------Striker-----------
Winger----ACM-------Winger
--------CDM--CDM----------

or 4-3-2-1 (Christmas Tree) * We used with Seedorf & Kaka

---------Striker (Inzaghi)----------
-----ACM (seedorf)---ACM (kaka)-----
MF---------MF------------MF-------

In the first two examples, that ACM can be considered a "Trequartista"

Now, you can have a guy like Ronaldinho, or Totti who are the #10, who don't care to track back much and defend, both almost act as a 3rd forward, or you can have a guy like Sneijder, who drops back and helps out his midfield. However, in my opinion he is still a Trequartista. He is the engine of the attack, the creator.

Characteristics of players (Diego, Zidane, Totti, Baggio, Honda, VdV, Kaka, Messi, Maradona, Ronaldinho, Ganso, Fabregas, Sneijder, Ozil)... are all different, some play deeper, some player closer to forwards, some defend, some don't.... It's hard to define a position as the be all end all, but the bottom line is at the #10, while different in different systems, is an important role in the attack if you play in the modern formations, some would even say Juventus lacks this player.

I call him an ACM OR "Trequartista".... We can use CAM, ACM, Trequartista, AMF, but I think we all know what we're describing...

Rez I dont think it is..whatever about coefficients ...goal line technology is there can be implemented but they refuse to use it.Its things like this that make me yawn and say they are inept actually the level of there ineptitude is scary.

If this Ganso dude dribbles less than Kaka, then he really doesn't dribble much cos, let's face it, Kaka isn't really much of a dribbler. He gets past men, yes, but not with guile or tricks but sheer power and pace. But as long as this Ganso can hold up play (not in a Pirlo kind of way. Slows the game down) and is an intelligent passer, i don't see why not.

p.s.
I have to take sides with Kaka. Saying a Trequartista and a AMF are one and the same is like saying a Regista is a CMF; Impossible!

Dribbling "the propulsion of a ball by repeated taps or kicks"... with or without guile or tricks or fancy foot moves... therefor Kaka does (USE TO) dribble a lot...
Good post anyway...

A trequartista isn't necessarily defined by the position a player takes up (especially in the modern game), but rather by what his role in a team is. We are a good example of this, as Boateng, who according to your argument is our trequartista, which I disagree with and I'd say if we have a trequartista (imo not really the case), then it's Pirlo on the left, though in actual fact in this position he's doing a variety of roles.

Also bear in mind that until the past year or so the traditional trequartista was becoming much less prevelant in recent years. Kaka, who started as a trequartista became a second forward, and the position itself was unused by teams, many of whom used wide forwards like Barca.

You make fair points though, your definition is definitely one that fits the traditional definition of a trequartista.

Gianluca Di Marzio, speaking on Sky Sport 24 , has revealed some more background on the negotiation Cassano, now in the pipeline to the Rossoneri his new venture: "It 'is another masterpiece by Adriano Galliani, a dinner with the Prosecutor Bozzo , which was then also added Massimiliano Allegri, has reached an agreement with the player. Cassano will sign a contract until 2014, receiving more awards than 3 million. The idea is to aggregate the player in the withdrawal of Dubai on December 27 despite up to Jan. 1 would not be permitted. But certainly grant permission to Sampdoria Cassano.
The only stumbling block is Real Madrid, but considering the friendship between Perez and Galliani will not be a problem, you will find a way of somewhere between Milan and one that offers what they ask for the Merengues.

I don't know. It seems so, but we won't know for sure, as the winter mercato window isn't open yet so any deal at this time would be illegal, I suppose.
