Ok so let's get this straight; we've had now two members on MM (Nando, Super Sheva) state that not only are we linked to Fernando Torres, it is very possible if not probable that we'll sell Pato and buy Torres. Also, there are rumors that Pato is trouble in the locker-room, a bit upset that Ibra is the focal point of the team, etc.
I can't believe this. Even if I see a source, I've never heard of these issues before. Also, in terms of quality, I believe Pato is better than Fernando Torres. Pato is faster, younger, and perhaps a better finisher. Also, Torres is injured all the time too, and he has no excuse because he's older. I don't really want Balotelli, I didnt really want Cassano, but I certainly do NOT want Pato to leave. Instead, we must, and this is very important, get a player like Coentrao, Luiz, Ranocchia, Jucilei, Ganso, Lazzari,, and start replacing our Midfield and horrible defenders (Bonera, Oddo, Janku, Onyewu) I'm not sure where this nonsense about Pato came from, but our forward line is NOT the problem... |

Torres was amazing in Atletico Madrid, but IMO, he hasn't improved since that time, mainly due to the several injuries he has had !! Right now, and since last season, Torres has been everything you want but constant/regular, actually, since he's been in Liverpool, he has been unable to make a complete season to high level. Actually, this season, I even think Torres is not as good as when he was in Atletico. The guy needs to leave Liverpool and England if he wants to launch again his career, because I think that his problem is not only about injuries but also confidence and happiness (Liverpool, except Joe Cole, hasn't bought one good player in years). So it's not a scandal to claim that right now, today, our strikers are better than him. Of course, a 100% fit Torres is WC, but he's far from being at 100% and as a consequence, he's no more a WC striker (I have no doubts he will be WC again in some months/years). About the rumours regarding Torres, he's linked with Barcelona nowadays, I didn't see anything linking this player to Milan ...

That's one match you are talking about. Chelsea also lost 3-0 at home to Sunderland. Does that mean ACM should also sign the scorers for Sunderland, Onuoha, Gyan & Welbeck? Quote:

Torres IMO is the best striker there is. no doubt about it. but he has been out of form for a long time now, mainly becouse of injuries. But I'm 100% he'll find his best form again, and than he's lethal!!

Drogba in england is better than him, but imo I'd prefer to keep Pato as IMO he's a better player at same age and will get better.
He's lost a bit of form and works the line well but as said I think our forwards will work better together than if we had Torres-ibra or whatever. He wasn't great in Spain either. He was scored alot of goals from penalties. He wasn't 1st choice for Spain due to injuries, but also because Villa is a better forward for Spain than Torres can hope to be.

I'm called Dev as it's my name (well, nickname). Feel free to call me it if you prefer ![]() There's a lot of talk of Torres lately and I must say I really see little point in getting him (if the so called rumours for which there are no sources at this point are true). The player for me is an enigma, and one which I think is a huge risk for us. At Atletico he showed he had talent, but was always considered a player with great potential rather than a star. At Liverpool he took the step up and got himself acknowledged on the world stage. Nowerdays, he's still considered one of the best, but one who is suffering a lot due to injuries. That's all fair and we all know he's talented, but it's not the complete picture, especially when looking at a supposed replacement for Pato. Torres wasn't a great goalscorer at Atletico, despite all the promise he showed. At Liverpool, his record in the league is outstanding (not far off a goal a game), but there's a considerable drop when he plays in Europe (less than 1 goal every 2 games) and this season his form has nosedived (of course injuries play their part too). For Spain Torres isn't exactly great, averaging a goal every 3/4 games or so. My question is why is this? In the Premiership he's brilliant, but otherwise he's not a great goalscorer (a necessity for a Pato replacement). One explanation could well be he's well suited to English football, but not necessarily other styles of the game. What worries me is if he comes to Milan and isn't the great goalscorer of the Premiership, then he will struggle in Milan. I also have other hesitations. His injuries are a huge issue. If this is supposedly one of the reasons to replace Pato, then Torres isn't really our man. He will also cost a fortune, which again is a huge risk for an injury prone forward who may not be a great goalscorer in Milan. Finally, my doubt in Torres is his age. Pato has yet to reach the heights he's capable of, but he's also only 21. Torres is 26 and soon will be 27. We've already got Ibra, Robinho and pretty much Cassano within this age group, all very high quality forwards. We don't need another forward who is in his prime at this point. For me, a forward who we can build our future around is much better imo. |

First off, Merry Xmas and wish that there are more presents from Berlu and Galli beside Cassano.
On the topic of Torres. When he is fit, he is one of the top strikers in the world and might be the best one on one against defender in the world since Ronaldo was skinny. He is probably the perfect striker in a counter attack system due to his speed, size and one on one skill. That's probably why he struggles in Spain Natl and will struggle in Milan. As Milan plays off Ibra. |

He's an all round forward, much like Ibra in that he has the speed and technique to operate as wide player and also can pass well enough to drop into am.
