We just need to give Pato time. He is maturing and improving, but he will continue to make mistakes still. The biggest criticism he has is his selfishness or decision making, but his last 3 performances have had big improvements in these areas.
Against Palermo before he got injured, he worked very hard for the team, frequently tracking back and looking to move for teammates. Against Cagliari, I missed the match but in the highlights I noticed his movement a lot, and he got a lot of praise post match for his movement (again it was said he moved for the team). Against Udinese he was excellent, constantly moving around the pitch in tandem with teammates and always looked to make himself available for teammates, often looking to supply them with passes or crosses. In the second half it cannot be ignored he frequently tracked back to support defensively. I had said at half time that I think Robinho or Ibra should track back, but ultimately Allegri asked Pato to do it and he did this well (someone even mentioned in the match thread at one point he was the last man back). |

Regarding decision making the other guys are talking... not every CF can play as winger or AMD and be good all the time. If that was the case, it wasn´t so hard to find #10´s. Just take your skilled player at put there. There´s a reason some kids(at youth teams) are chosed to play as "the decision maker of the team" and others not. How many times we need to to come here and said Pato play ALL his life(until Milan) as a CF?!?! Also, if Pato is selfish what a guy like Zarate is?? UBER selfish?!? Pato is a(young)CF playing far from the goal... I feel sorry for Pato... The kid(yep, he isn´t 28 fellas) is always put on a microscope. Sometimes I wish those rumors about Pato/Balotteli swap become true. Some guys just crystallized the idea Pato always take poor decisions and only will know what they have on hands in the day they lost it... |

Hey guys am new to these forums.. You all seem like very pleasant knowledgable people on this forum which im glad, hi to all.. Anyhow i decided id drop my first post on none other then SUPER PATO. See, i love this player but in this modern era of football i wonder if there will be room for these flashy brazilians anymore.. the new style of play requires speed and mostly one-two step dribbles such as kaka or messi they cut defenders inside out without any moves that will make your mouth drop and be like wow. but anyhow, this is also why brazil cannot win anymore. and the most useful talents coming about are more argentinian and spanish. I AM ALSO A BARCA FAN. milan is my 2nd pick , because i am spanish and from barcelona, but anyhow milan really needs a player like iniesta and alves in their squad, and mascherano. players of there quality will really spiff milan up.. they really need to stop buying brazilian players, they have a poor work rate they barely go passed 30 and are too flashy.. ganso may do well in italy but news around here is that inter will be buying him

Pato will be one of the best strikers in the world, hopefully wearing Milan colors. He has his work rate to improve, along with understanding of offside trap, passing, dribbling, etc. His finishing is excellent, and he scores plenty of goals. He will work on these things and be an excellent striker. IMO, he's best playing up top as an Inzaghi type of player, but he also can beat you with speed, beating the last defender... he will be fine, don't worry.
As for Brazilian talent, there is still boat-loads of Brazilian talent. There is also a lot of Argentine talent. I think the reason why Brazil has struggled a bit in International Tournaments is because other nations have caught up. You still have Italy, Germany, France, Argentina as powerhouses, but now you also have Spain, some African and Asian countries, USA, and all South American teams which are generally strong. Other countries have basically just caught up. However, Brazil still offers a lot of talented players, because Brazil loves their football, they play a lot of futsal and beach soccer, beach tennis, etc, and this requires good footwork and talent, along with their samba dancing, they develop a lot of athletic, free flowing talented players. Milan has had a long-standing relationship with Brazil. Hopefully we land Ganso.... ![]() |

About being from Brazil, you´re right and wrong. Right because I´m from Brazil, but since you´re new here, I suggest you go to my thread in the transfers forum, and take a look at the amount of "next brazilian big things" I called overrated there. I call it as I see, being the player brazilian or not. Pato has one big problem, a freaking muscular injure, but when he´s on the pitch, he scores. Even playing out of position. Just look at his numbers goal per game... Quote:
He was deadly in front of the goal since he was a kid. It has nothing to do with Allegri. He played as second-striker and CF for Carlo... CF, winger, ST for Leo and is now being placed as ST and winger for Allegri. Our coach isn´t creating nothing new in Pato´s game. Since the first time I saw Pato playing a pro game(vs Palmeiras at 16 years old), his moviments around the pitch(getting the ball wide, creating some plays for others) caught my attetion. He was a complete young CF. In Brazil we don´t develope(and like) one dimensional CF´s like in Italy and England. Pato never was one or would turn into one. With Pato finishing and ability to move around the pitch, he is becoming more and more like D. Villa.

Don't get me wrong Brasileiro, I've always said Pato has been an incredible player in all aspects and also developed a lot under Carlo and Leo. What I meant is Allegri is continuing his development, and is giving him a more consistent position in the team which keeps him closer to goal. Carlo used Pato in every attacking position he can play, but never played him consistently in a single role, while Leo played him in a single position, but it was essentially as a wing forward rather than in front of goal.
Pato will stay out wide and drop deep with Allegri, but he's moving into the box more frequently than under Leo. welcome to MM XaviPirlo Last edited by ACMILAN1983; 13-01-2011 at 04:16. |

I think Allegri is working on Pato's tactical vision. Playing like that makes him know the teammates easier, that's why he's scored a lot recently ![]() And welcome XaviPirlo! |

Precisely, Allegri's simply continuing Pato's growth tactically. I'm curious to see what we can get out of Pato, simply because his potential seems to be endless.

Really pleased to see Allegri defending Pato in today's press conference, as he really needed it. Pato since the Lecce match has been far too heavily criticised and the fact that it's already started rumours (again) of him leaving the club is simply unfair.
His performance against Lecce was poor, and this is undeniable, but the way so many have got on his back (almost making him a scapegoat) is ridiculous. |

Allegri: "Pato? This year we play in a different system compared to last season, when Milan played with three forwards, two on the flanks and a centre forward. Now we play with two strikers and a midfielder right behind them. In this scheme, the forwards have to adapt to each other and this is something Pato has to work on. ..... And let’s not forget that he was often sidelined by injuries, therefore he needs some time to develop chemistry with Ibra.”"
So the coach agrees with most of us, that Pato is not playing well for one reason or another. Cassano, Ibra, Robinho not only play for new systems but play with new teams yet they managed to fit in... Pato's been here for 3 years now, played in several different formations with 3 different coaches at Milan, and still he can't adapt to one of the easiest formations you can adapt to, the 4-3-1-2.... |

Well, according to you, he can't adapt but managed to score goals. Hmm, it is strange. I wonder how great he would be if he can adapt according to your standard of adaptation. Let the kid grow. He is still 21 years old. I doubt the three experienced players mentioned above had similar achievement with Pato when they were in the same age. ![]()
