we are about to finalize astori, i guess all the pain of seeing milan struggle as we balanced the books, are finally starting to pay off.

Things have greatly changed in this past week. (I'd love for Brasileiro to comment on following)

Apparently, Milan's management are thinking in the future that T. Silva will be their CDM!... they're trying to get Astori as CB in June, and possibly another CB. This will greatly affect us as well as the Brazil National Team. Very interesting...

Centre-back, now in Cagliari, co-owned since two years ago, if I'm not mistaken?

He is not much needed for the team now, but for the future, yes, my friend ^^

This boy is only 18, like Pato's case, he will have time to learn and adapt to the Italian/Milan style.

IMO, position is not something concrete and each player has his own way to play in that position. In those 3 names: Binho likes to move a lot, eager to support his teammate. Cassano likes to hold the ball and do what he wants with it. However, none of them are true ACM. Ganso is like Rui Costa, a true ACM, so I think if he comes, he will play ACM, Binho & Cassano will play SS.

Again, I agree that this transfer seems not much needed, but if you look at the injury crisis we are suffering now, a young talent like him, Merkel, Strasser or a near retire like Van Bommel are needed. We don't hope for the injuries but we must prepare for the worst.

Cassano

Yes if you put it that way,we have to prepare ourselves for the worst,if I'm not mistaken, last year's january and this january are two periods where many of our players got injured....

and yes I also think that Ganso is pure AM,what I ment to say before that right now we don't have that kind of player(maybe Merkel) so Robinho and Cassano have to play this position...I AGREE WITH YOU

i didnt see enough of Ganso to judge him, yet like i said before he looked to me a Alex with more workrate...

However i must ask some questions to my friends who saw Ganso more than i do...

is he track back? he runs a lot? he is moveable? i mean he comes back to get the ball or he stay where he is and ask for ball? how about his shooting abilitry and finishing? his movement on the field? movement to the box? is he dynamic? his pace?

Seems still rumor. Brasileiro should explain this to us.

I completely agree about Merkel,IMO he can play all positions in midfield...
Abbiati is amazing and deserves to play, but we also have to prepare the future, and a guy like Sirigu is perfect for our near future as he's at the same level as Abbiati or just below (but 10+ years younger) ...

And no way Amelia is better than Sirigu ...

Nowadays, I think in Italy, the GK hierarchy is the following one:
Abb > Sirigu > Julio Cesar > Storari > Amelia, Marchetti, ...

You miss Buffon

Well, both Buffon & Cesar are better than Abb, but at this time, their form is much worse.

For those praising Pastore, and saying you would swap him for Pato any day.
I am watchin Palermo - Inter and Pastore missed a 1-on-1 and a penalty.

The score is 2:1 and those misses can prover very very very costly.
Yet another promising talent blown our of proportions. I wouldn't swap Pato for two Pastores

We should sign Sirigu if he continues this form.

Astori? Not that impressed by him when I've seen him play. But maybe he can improve by playing together with better players at Milan. Anyway, I really don't see Thiago Silva moving to midfield, we've got so many quite decent midfielders now and too few great defenders. I'd rather see Silva play at the back now that Nesta is probably nearing the end of his career.
