But I do think he has lost his thunder, as you say. Billy was talking about it about a year ago, and perhaps he was right. He should know, being the veteran of the game that he is. We have to face the reality of the situation as well, which is that at the end of this season, it'll be three years since the last time we won anything. For a club like Milan, that is simply not good enough. I think Lippi would be an excellent choice. He is the best coach in the world, and he is available. If he could get Milan to play like his Juventus sides, or the Italy team that won the World Cup, then... Well, I think it might be the best thing that has happened to the club in years, and quite possibly the start of a new winning cycle. Nevertheless, I will miss some aspects of Ancelotti's Milan. I think that at its best, Milan under Ancelotti played the most beautiful football in the world. Perhaps not always the most lethal team in the game, and not necessarily the best either (although UEFA's statistics would have it otherwise), but we've been great to look at, playing extremely entertaining and "un-Italian" football. |

From:http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...lia/dec8n.html
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ancelotti turns nasty Friday 8 December, 2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Carlo Ancelotti has warned his Milan players it’s no more Mr Nice Guy after a humiliating defeat to Lille. “We’ve got to change our tune,” said the tactician. “We were lacking team spirit out there and this is a squad that has to be motivated all over again.” Ancelotti carried the ‘loser’ tag during the early years of his Coaching career and many have said he lacks the authority shown by the likes of Fabio Capello. This was highlighted this season during touchline rows with Clarence Seedorf and Kaka, with the boss admitting he often has such frank exchanges of views with his stars. However, their dreadful form in Serie A and the Champions League – including two consecutive European defeats to AEK Athens and Lille – have pushed him too far. “The team was booed off the field, but in fact I think the fans were too kind in their reaction. We were slow, lacked determination and only committed nine fouls in the entire game. We played as individuals and it was an ugly evening.” The Rossoneri are qualified top of Group H and will discover their opponents in the Champions League when the draw is made on Friday December 15. In the meantime, they must take on Torino – with ex-Coach Alberto Zaccheroni a Scudetto winner for the San Siro giants in 1998-99 – this Sunday. “We may have to wait until the winter break to rediscover our physical fitness, but from a psychological point of view we can change immediately. The players must remember they are a team. None of us are happy at the moment and the side has to find that style it seems to have lost sight of recently,” continued Ancelotti. “This is a strange time, the most difficult approach to Christmas I’ve had on the Milan bench. But I know we can get past this moment quickly. It’ll remain an important season that we’ll look back on as we do the others. We can solve our problems fast.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow!Seems Carlo is getting angry! ![]() Last edited by rosoneri_11; 08-12-2006 at 16:20. |

Not a slight idea how people can blame carlo ancelotti to be honest. Injuries + bad luck has pushed too far, and now the players lack motivation. Perhaps that's the only reason you can sack Ancelotti. But blaming him on the poor run of recent form is simply insane and biased. This simply shows that Ancelotti, like Gilardino, is yet another scapegoat for the whole drama.

i dont blame Gila at all, im not in the anti Gila group.. More the Anti Oli group...
but Jeff things have been needed to be done for the last 2 years.. OK call me insane, but for the last 2 years weve being playing very predictable football, and Ancelotti hasnt changed his tactics.. Only he is to blame for that.. Other teams like Real, Chelsea, Barca fire there Managers if they dont get success, but its ok if we dont win anything isnt it! In Italy a manager only has a shelve life of arround 4/5 years, i would prefer to renember Ancelotti for the good times, not for what is happening now! i dont know if your in a very competitive job, but i think it is very fair if he gets fired if we dont get into the next round of the champ league.. People get fired when they dont deliver, i dont see why Ancelotti has to be any different.. he is being paid alot of money to do his job!

I am anti no one, but as Graeme said above, I completely agree, Ancelotti fails to deliver silverware for 3 years, then he has to go.

Real: Has they even get closed to winning? Chelsea: they didn't buy a new coach; they have a new owner. Barca: Only because of Ronaldinho can they enjoy so much success. And, who asks Real Madrid to screw themselves up in the league? I always maintain that Italy has one of the most difficult leagues in the world. Juventus, Inter, MIlan, and with the always unpredictable teams like Roma, Lazio, Palermo... How many can you name in Spain? Real, Valencia, Barca... then? How many can you name in England? Chelsea, ARsenal, Man U... then? It's fair to get him sacked, of course, but the question is still on you: how will this solve the problem? Who is in line to be the manager who, according to you, will SAVE Milan? Unfortunately, I don't find your argument substantial, because you are simply linking the coach with the team performance. This is fair, but with injury and being unlucky etc (hitting the post like 12 times in 13 games?)... just be fair. If you are so desperate to find somenoe to blame, blame the management. I think they did a bad job this summer, but again it's not their fault. So what's the conclusioN? It's not the time to talk about changing coach, management, or anyone: The question is how to solve the problem. Unfortunately, sacking the coach now is nowhere near finding a solution, and your argument is also nowhere near presenting how sacking ancelotti (let alone who you suppose will replace him, REALISTICALLY) will get Milan back on track. |

Seems that, despite being mIlan fans for quite an umber of years, there are still Milan philosophies that people do not share. I wonder what you have learned from watching MIlan football and management. Ok, leave me out of this discussion now, as I'll reply no more, at least in the near future, until you come up with a piece ofevidence that Ancelotti contributed to the downfall. BTW, no one has't even cited a SINGLE game that shows Ancelotti screwed the game up. NOT YET. |

I really don't know what sacking Ancelotti will do. Will it make our injured players recover faster ? Will it magically make new players be drafted into the squad ? I think they just want the change for change sake.

I'm not up for sacking Ancelotti at this point nor do I think he should be given complete blame over this season. But I'm generally a believer of coaches generally managing a club for 5-6 years before they move on. Doing this generally keeps a fresh atmosphere and new approaches and motivations are brought in.
With exception to a few managers like Alex Ferguson, this is generally what occurs in football. I think looking at the squad, Ancelotti really can't have the same effect he had a few seasons ago (though I agree with Jeff he certainly doesn't deserve blame for the last 2 seasons) as things generally get stale over a period of time. It's the same with players too. It's good to keep the core of the team in tact, but over time players must be replaced when the team starts becoming less effective. I like most it seems am disappointed that people like Cafu and Seedorf weren't actually replaced sooner (again, like with Carlo, I love what they did for us, but now they've lost their influence). |

I just keep waiting for Angelo to tell me "the coach will not enjoy pannetoni (or however you spell it) for Christmas!" Last time he said that to me, we did indeed have a change in coaches.
If we lose to Torino, who is ahead of us in the standings if you can believe it, it'll be a defeat handed to us by a former coach and a former keeper.....who by the way I just read at Football Italia this morning now wants to stay with Torino. I won't post the article here in case it was posted in anothe transfer topic, but Milan now shoots itself in the foot by not talking to Abbiati about being, at last, the #1. http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...lia/dec8h.html

Ancelotti has failed to deliver silverware for 3 years... true... Gilardino has failed to deliver goals every 3 games for 2 years... true...
yet one has brought us glory both in Italy & Europe before while the other hasn't done any sh!t for Milan... but why is only one blamed & the other free from the jury? strange isn't it? |
