Yea he's good but Athletico seem to want a fortune for him. remember we have to improve defense and midfield also. Pirlo needs some more freedom. We saw what he did for Italy with a little space. I think we should get someone to take Gattuso's place. Someone who can defend well AND create something on the right side in conjunction with our right fullback.

Well I guess you're right. We'll see what happens. I'm interested in seeing exactly who comes and who goes. Interesting transfer market this summer.

what i saw of Torres today i was actually impressed, he has alot of speed on him which is good, looks a bit like a young sheva....
Other player im impressed with is Luca Toni, he has great skill for a guy his size.. if Inter are trying to get him, we should try and trip them up on the way... thinkin if he does go to Inter he is just going to have the same problems that Vieri had playing with Adriano Last edited by Graeme C; 14-06-2006 at 13:15. |

This is my (inspired by boredom) assessments of the transfer targets and the likelyhood of each of them. Part A.
The Player: Adriano Leite Ribeiro The Pros: Highly rated young striker with a proven goal tally in italy, a bad season and reported dissatisfaction with the squad may mean Inter are tempted to sell him on. Brazilians have always attracted Milan. The Cons:A good world cup may convince Inter to hold on to him however the real problems lie with Inters past record in transfers to the top clubs in italy, particularly Milan. They will be unwilling to, yet again, offload an under-preforming player with the possibility he may flourish with us making that ever evasive scudetto again less attainable. Should he become available he will attract suitors from Spain and England with Inter far more likely to push him out of Serie A. The Verdict: 3/10. Unlikely, Inter will be too wary of allowing another potential star to strengethen their main rivals. If he goes it will be far more likely he'll end up in Spain or England. The Player: Zlatan Ibrahimovic The Pros: Exactly the type of player milan are looking for, technically gifted and strong. While not the all out goal getter that Shevchenko was the management will be happy enough knowing that should Gilardino forfill his potential Goals will not be a problem provided he weighs in with an average amount. Juventus' possible relegation to Serie B or even C would make his departure from Turin very likely, while the player himself would probably find a club the size of Milan an exellent destination to persue his ambitions. It's also possible that Juve may not be adverse to letting him come to us in the interests of rebuilding the shattered relationship between the two clubs after the refreeing scandal, while Moggi seems to wish to take us down Moggi is no longer Juventus. The Cons: Juventus, in all likelyhood, will escape relegation. Should that be the case Juventus will certainly not sell one of their most prized assests. Again, a departure to a club outside Serie A may be more appealling to Juventus. The Verdict: 4/10, alot hinges on wether Juventus' are relegated or not, I would say that is less likely to happen than to happen and this transfer should be regarded as having the same odds of going through. The Player: Samuel Eto'o The Pros: Another player of absolute quality and certainly one of the few player in the world rated to be every bit the equal of Shevchenko. Reports suggest we have been linked with him while Barcelona have suprised in the past by selling even their star players should a large enough offer come along. The Cons: Despite Barcelona selling big players in the past, this is a complete Barcelona team that has achieved everything and the management would be unwilling to break up. Eto'o is undeniably one of the key components playing second fiddle only to Ronaldinho and is a huge fan favourite. That Henry is almost certainly not leaving for the Nou Camp there is no real replacement for him. Also Eto'o is completely happy where he is and has said he would be unwilling to move. The Verdict: 2/10. Hugely unlikely, I see no reason why Barcelona either want or need to sell and the player is settled and would reject a transfer. The Player: Fernando Torres The Pros: A player that again fits the bill regarding what milan are looking for. Linked for many seasons with Milan he should be able to arrive in the San Siro knowing that he is genuinely wanted and appreciated and not some vanity buy by a team that has only just become aware of him after the world cup. Athletico are not a huge team and would likely not be able to hold on to him should pressure really be exerted, good ties with Milan should give us another advantage over other teams. The Cons: Maybe a tad risky as a player, he would still command a huge price and no spanish player has really succeeded in Serie A. Whether Milan, who traditionally put most of their faith with more experienced players, would be willing to have a first choice front line that consisted of two 24 year olds and a 22 year old is also doubtful. The Verdict: 7/10. A real possibility, if we decide to invest the majority of the Sheva money back into a direct replacement then Torres would surely be on the list of possibles. Our ties with the player and club would also give us an advantage over any other club that attempted to compete for his signature. The Player: Ruud van Nistelrooy The Pros: Defiently available, Milan like a bargain and with RvN certain to leave his transfer fee should be way below his value. Proven goalscoring record in the Champions League should convince he is able to score at any level. The Cons: Not the sort of player we are looking for, very similar to Gilardino and Inzaghi. Plus the 15m price tag man u have declared is not really any sort of a bargain, they may be tempted to use him as a bartering device for another player instead of just selling him in. The Verdict: 3/10. The ease he could be aquired for means he may just tempt the management as negotiations would be quick and painless. However, he's not really what we're looking for and his age and preformances recently suggest he is in decline. The Player:David Trezeguet The Pros: Proven scorer, at his age would probably be desperate to jump ship should Juventus be relegated. There are indications Juve were already willing to offload him so wouldn't object to much to a milan move. The Cons: Absolutely no reports of any interest from milan, like RvN, he is not the sort of player we are looking for at all. The Verdict: 1/10. I doubt milan will even enquire and, as I've already said, Juve will probably stay up so he won't even be available. The Player:Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima The Pros: Fabulous record and certainly unhappy at madrid. Should the price be right, even with his current form most clubs would be willing to take the chance. We have been linked often with him in the past. Galliani has an eye for a bargain if he's available and the brazilian contingent would welcome him with open arms. Could be a similar situation too Rivaldo. The Cons: Not the right sort of player, as Galliani has said. A bad world cup could effectively end his days as one of the elite and should he go it's likely he'll move to a smaller club with ambition. Our relationship with Madrid is trained right now aswell. Real Madrid also have a somewhat distorted idea of valuation of players, believing that just being a Madrid player automatically adds 10m to your value. The Verdict: 3/10. Not likely. It's doubtful we will show any further interest in Ronaldo, Madrids inflated valuation of their players worth will probably put even bargain loving Galliani off. The Player:Raul Gonzalez Blanco The Pros: Great scoring record. The Cons: Numerous. Madrids previously mentioned valuations, his love of where he is, he's not the right sort of player, been injured and could be past it, no reports ever linking him (bar one joke comment made by galliani when he was getting fed up rejecting bids by madrid for Shevchenko) The Verdict: 1/10. Not a chance. The Player: Francesco Totti The Pros: Italian. Has been linked with Milan previously and may be getting sick of having to compete for 4th place every season given his ego. Could Roma decide now is the time to cash in on him? The Cons: Roma have always declared their intention to hang on to their star player. Whether he is even considered as a viable replacement by Milan remains to be seen given that he's often regarded as an attacking midfielder. The Verdict: 3/10. Very unlikely, would require a big gamble on Milans part and complete U-turn regarding Roma's attitude to Totti. The Player:Antonio Cassano The Pros: Italian and blessed with huge unforfilled potential. Exactly the type of player Milan are looking for to partner Gilardino. Has played in serie A to great effect too and is the right age for a long term replacement to Sheva. Madrids case for a large price tag would be flimsy given that the piad only 4m and he had a pretty awful 6 monthes there. The Cons: Real Madrid may again look to inflate the value and it's unlikey any team will want to pay over 6m for him given the circumstances of his arrival. Obviously blessed with talent and at his price Madrid could want to hold on to him just in case he does come good given a proper pre-season at the club to get back to fitness. Our relationship with Madrid is also strained and they probably wouldn't be too happy given us a potential star player. The Verdict: 6/10. This one is more with Madrid than Milan, if Madrid decide to rebuild the strikeforce complately and get rid of Cassano then I'm sure Milan will be in there for his signature. However I just don't see them being reasonable and Milan rarely like paying even a fraction over a fair price. The Player:Roy Makaay The Pros: Maybe just the sort of player we're looking for. Podolski's arrival may ease his deaprture. The Cons: There are never be any reports linking him. His age isn't ideal and his quality is up for debate having failed to make an impact at Bayern beyond his first season. The Verdict: 2/10. Milan are unlikely to show any interest even if a decent bid would probably tease him away. The Player:Hernan Crespo The Pros: Carlo loves him and he's already done the business for us before. Chelsea have a load of strikers already and may even want to splash some more cash should someone catch their eye at the world cup. The Cons: when we had him he was for playing along side Shevchenko, not for covering him so he's not really what we're looking for. We've already had a fight with Chelsea over his price and he's another year older. The Verdict: 4/10. We'll probably always keep an eye on him but unless he can be obtained for a real bargain price he's not likely to tempt us into serious negotiations. Still, a bargain price is possible if Chelsea decide to dip into the market, or even if he decides he's had enough sitting on the bench. The Player:Didier Drogba The Pros: While he's most certainly a target man and nothing like sheva he's of a type that Carlo has requested before. A big arial threat. He's miserable in chelsea right now and a good world cup could convince Milan that he's merely being stifled there and that he's actually capable of a lot more. He has expressed a desire to play for us and has been strongly linked. The Cons: Although Carlo has requested a big man upfront, that was when he had Sheva, it's not likely that this notion is on the back burner and striker with entirely different skills is desired. Chelsea don't seem keen to sell and if this is true they won't, if not, it's designed to raise his price above the acceptable for a player as unhappy and under-preforming as he. The Verdict: 4/10. the rest tomorrow.

Toni is great, but Torres is definitelly better, a much more complete footballer overall, and also a lot younger.

Maybe...just maybe...Milan Lab had found "something" on Sheva's ankle or legs that would make him not as good as before....SO the management decided to sell him while Milan found a "crazy buyer" who can pay that fortune of Pounds for the "wounded" Shevpounds??? Again...this is just what crossed in my mind...right or wrong it's only time will proof this hypothesis....
