This is from Tribal/Tuttosport so I know it's to be taken with a grain of salt but if it true then I guess great minds think alike:
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani held a furious conversation with coach Carlo Ancelotti after this week's Coppa Italia elimination by Roma. Tuttosport says Galliani lambasted Ancelotti over his tactics during the phone call on Wednesday evening and his team selection. The Milan board are now pressing ahead with plans to replace Ancelotti in the summer. Marcello Lippi and Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard top their shortlist, while Milan assistant coach Mauro Tassotti would be kept on with a view to grooming him to be a future No1.

tuttosport is just like tribalfootball.. though I wouldn't be surprised if that was true. I was quite disappointed when I watched the game, and obviously by being eliminated from the Coppa, Ancelotti is not getting more votes from the management..

The damned Ancelotti has already cost us Andriy Shevchenko, now he is going to cost us Kaka? When will the management let him go already? It is easy to find a guy to do what Ancelotti does (even though some might not agree to that statement), but it is not always that easy to find a player in Kaka and Shevchenko's class that we can sign at that kind of low price. Pick wisely, Galliani. (well, we know that's not going to happen)

Seems this thread has pretty much died...here's a little rumour to spice it up.

I'll translate it :
Ancellotti has decided to leave Milan and Lippi will replace him 09:50 , March 15 Ancelotti conciders his rossonero cycle finished and on his place the world champion's coach ( Lippi) will arive . The Via Turati society has allready decided who will replace Ancelotti, who'll leave no matter what will Milan do in the Champions League. Carlo's probabile destination is Spain ( Barcelona, Real Madrid or Valencia) =----------- I think Lippi may easily end up being Milan's coach next season. One month ago he said how he had a talk with his former student Deschamps and he told the Frenchman not to worry about losing the place in Juve because of him. Few days ago i read how Lippi said chances for him to coach a team out of Italy are very small and how he'll probably continue his carriere in serie A. Mancini is certain to stay with Inter, Spalletti with Roma, and apart from Fiorentina i can't see who could be Milan's opponent in Lippi race.

It would be interesting to see what a new coach with *almost* no prior interaction with the players will do with the squad. There'll be *almost* no favouritism and everybody'll have to fight for their place.

Well, if there's someone who knows most of Milan players almost as well as Ancelotti, then it's Marcello Lippi.
6 of Milan players played under his command on WC2006 while he knows Ronaldo and Simic from their Inter days. Lippi was succesful in every competition in last 13 years ( 5 scudetti , 1 CL and 3 more CL finals and 1 World Cup) so i guess Milan will be getting the best one there is out there. He could also prove decissive if Milan is in the race for some other Italian World Champions like Zambrotta, De Rossi, Barzagli, Camoranesi, Cannavaro or Buffon ( no way), or some non-Italians who played in Juve while he was coaching them ( Trezeguet). The only thing i'm not sure about him and Milan together is his ...hmmm.... "dislike" for the Brazilians. He never wanted Brazilians in Juventus and was always looking for Italians or Frenchmen. Also when he came to Inter he said NO to south americans and he bought a bunch of Italians and French players ( Vieri, Blanc, Panucci, Di Biagio ...). Lippi is a strange coach. He's not looking for beauty in the game, the beauty south Americans or Portugesse players provide, but on the other hand he also isn't a Cappello like coach who wants defense defense and only defense. He's so much different than any other coach in the world but his system is proven succesful and imo, Milan can get much with him.

i kinda agree with him in a way, i think Milan should be made up of mostly italian players, with some brazilians.. (4/5) too many brazilians would be overkill..
But yeah hes my first choice to replace ancelloti.. much better and proven in italy compared to Rijkaard!

I vote for Anchelotti, i dont believe in Lippi, he never plays attractive football whereas the most of the times he destroys it. Who will be better for Milan's coaching place? Rijkaard
, Lippi , i dont also been convinced by Spaletti. In the past we have played very attractive football with Achelotti, i hate his last tactics but hye hasnt got the players to play in much different way. So answer to me who?... Lippi, Lippi, Lippi, sorry but you become old fashioned.
