The Draw was made for Copa America. Mexico is in the group of death, with Argentina, Uruguay and Ecuador. Expect Nery Alberto Casillo to be playing in the group of death.

I have always had something of an affection for South American football. So I follow this tournament from afar every year.

Any players catching the eye so far? Any potential moves to Europe? Give me some names of players I haven't heard of who are making names for themselves.

I'm sure you've heard of all of these, Diego, Robihno, Alez, Tevez. I'm sure at least one of them is making a move to Europe next season

I know Tevez already, thanks.

What about Alex from Cruzeiro? Hows he doing this year?

Any players shining from the less established countries- Bolivia, Venezuela etc.?

There isn't a player that surpass the performance of his teammates in Venezuela or Bolivia, the strongest point of this teams is the "collective game" of their players. Venezuela's squads are playing really well and have chances to advance to second round, in Bolivia the team Bolivar have chances to qualify.

About Alex, he had played the 90 minutes of all of the 5 matches of his team, he had scored 2 goals but his performance is irregular in some games, in the the match that Cruzeiro lost against Santos of Mexico he had a bad performance. Cruzeiro is almost qualified and I am sure that Alex will shine in the second round.

Colon Santa Fe, isn't it? I always thought he was a good player, but prone to drift in and out of games. He did play exceptionally well in the Confederations Cup, something I thought would win him a move across the Atlantic, but he headed for Argentina instead.

Anyone know where Elkin Murillo is now? When Colombia won the Copa nearly three years ago now ( I still remember the controversies of that event well today) he was exceptional at times. Seems to have slipped off my radar recently.

Sometimes Venezuela or Bolivia produce the odd good player who shines briefly in continental competition, then disappears off the radar. Remember Ronald Garcia from Bolivia? Or the right back Luis Gatty Ribeira?

Well, it looks as if Olimpia have taken a tumble from winning the competition two years ago. I remember the World Soccer account of their Intercontinental Cup experience in Tokyo, which for european players usually consists of a shopping trip for the latest electronic goods. The Olimpia squad went into the city centre, but returned empty handed as the prices were too much for their meagre wages. About the only time I have ever felt sorry for professional footballers in my life.
