What do you think of a Real Madrid-type 4-2-3-1?

Dida
Cafu-Stam-Nesta-Maldini
Gatusso-Seedorf
Rui Costa-Sheva-Kaka
Pippo

I think it is about time that I dissect this opportunistic nonsense. Could our team get better by one or two acqusitions of the best players in the world in their position? Yes of course. Is our midfield a average one? Hell no! You have tried and tried with this theory that you kick up as soon as a Italian team loses. You didn't really dare mention us before we had a loss.

So is all the wins suddenly erased? All the games where we dominated both the game and the ball possesion? such nonsense, we have game after game against opponent after opponent dominated and it has been our midfield commanding play and playing the ball around until we got our chances

Quote:
Well I marked two parts that thoroughly lack in our game, for 3 years now.
Some may claim we won many titles, but stop fooling youself, we were carried by great individual performances in our best games (Inzaghi in early CL, Sheva, Kaka Scudetoo season).
Like 100% of all other teams that win something.

Quote:
Our midfield is too static, too slow and only about passing, not pass receiving. The only player who runs is our most defensive midfielder - Gattuso. But one of Seedorf/Pirlo has to be sacrificed.
And I'd go with Pirlo. Aprt from 45min against Depor when did he ever really impress, be honest? Olypic games, NT - always average. And hearing people who want Donati or Barone is driving me mad. Italy has ONE big problem - midfielders and that is where we play most Italians.
Our midfield is not static it never was, our midfield players are all over the pitch and change positions a lot. That Pirlo is not a pacy player is not news to anyone, but I can make a long list of other players in top teams that are not. Seedorf is fast enough. you have only seen one impressive game from Pirlo??? Then you can't have seen us much, he was great in a lot of games last year and veyr good the year before and the 6 games he started the year before that ended in 4 wins and 2 draws...

Quote:
And seeing our average (on European terms) midfield there is no shortage on positions where to start.
Average? The only team I could remotely want to change with would be Valencia, but their bunch is more boring than ours so I will not do that either.

Quote:
==>Gattuso has to play central.
He does.

Quote:
I'd go for big spending here, there is no point not to invest in the most vital part of the team. My first options would be Snijder or breaking the bank and go with Vicente.
Good suggestions, altough Sneijder is not proven and/or may turn out to be quite average...

Quote:
2002/2003 -->World class defense behind Davids
2003/2004--> Mid table defense w/o davids
2004/2005--> Brillant again thanks to Emerson.
Funny that you mention this as Davids played just as much on the side as you claim that Gattuso do. Tacchinardi holded the middle and it was due to many other factors as to why their defense was bad, like taking out Ferrara and replacing him with Legrottaglie. I believe Juve will falter this year...

Quote:
But in Serie A you have to win against small teams and attack all cost, but our lack of defensive skills in central midfield and inability to create clear scoring chnaces (because everything is so static: Pirlo with his f*cking long passes and w/o any runing and any playing of flowing combination football), I'd go so far that we are already out of Scudetto race[you can bookmark this thread], unless we find a
If you take in more defense you lose in offense, your crusade against Pirlo is pretty patethic. Just because he is in bad form and he is if he plays like he did in the olympics. And that you claim that we have an inability to create clearcut scoring chances is just silly. I haven't seen anything of the Messina game, but against both Bologna and Lecce we created a lot of clearcut chances. Against Bologna we hit the woodwork twice and should have had another penalty. Against Lecce Sheva got a rebound with a open goal and had some clear header chance and so on and all that with one man less than them. and yes it was our midfield that dominated that match with one man less than them.

I can tell you about Milans midfields real problem.

We use to many "mood" players. That is the normal problem for a team that uses mnay offensive players. While a player like Gattuso can work hard and make almost the same contribution regardless of his mood and form you see the difference more clearly in Seedorf that tries to do more difficult stuff. Now Seedorf also always work hard, but when his passes and dribbles don't work we will suffer. Same goes for Kaka that can drift out of matches for long periods, while a Pirlo out of from tries to many long balls and Rui holds on to the ball to much. The only solution to that is to take out the one in problem and put in Dhorasoo, Serginho or Rui.

So Kris, Triniman, Dhorasoo, Serginho or Ambrosini are good players for your opinion huh? Are deserving to be at Milan?

Huh?

Someone younger in the case of the first 2, and well proven his value(can understand transfers that are only "be based" on the money we didnt spent)

For Ambro, i sure prefered Davids instead of him...

is that realistic though?

By saying "someone younger" it suggests you dont actually have anyone in particular in mind. If you can't provide an alternative then you shouldnt really complain.

As for Davids, he is a great player when he is on form and focussed but it doesnt take much for him to become disruptive so why risk the harmony of the team?

Im not sure what wages he would demand but i would expect he would want to be payed well for his last big contract. And thens theres his age, if you're opposed to Dhorasoo and Serginho on grounds of age then why would you want to bring in a 31(?) year old to replace Ambro?

Ok,

Vicente is one i can have in mind like Bayman told, although i have my thoughts about that because he is Spanish...There are so many players, i dont want just to tell names mate.

As for Davids, i saw that we kept Ambro because Galliani said that we believe him and we didnt go for Davids.

If u are Milan fan from some time now, u will remember that these tactics, with Commandini some years ago and more before, didnt do us any good...Yes davids is 31, but he is running all over the field(and Dhorasoo and Serginho is not like him..do u agree?) and can play good football for another 2 years...

If u want to tell u names of players, to take instead taking Dhorassoo..Just see the transfer forums..to many names

I have been a fan of Vicente's for a few years but im not sure he would be the right player for Milan and it would be an expensive gamble if we wanted to find out. As you point out he is used to the Spanish style of football which is more interchangeable with England than with Italy.

The midfield we have now is the same as the midfield that last year won the Scudetto with some ease so it cant be that bad I do agree that Davids is a great player when he is on form but imho it would seem to be a risky move to bring him to Milan and i understand why Galliani didnt go through with the deal.

Dhorasoo is a great player, have you actually seen him play? He is a bit like Kaka, obviously more mature, but not as dangerous in front of goal. Serginho have been great for us troughout the year, but I agree that he doesn't look as good. but he is there as a reserve, you don't buy Vicente for millions to put him on the bench. Ambrosini is our alternative to Gattuso, but he is not as pacy and mobile. He makes that up in aerial play, but I fear that he does not fit that well in the way we play now. Still been great for us in many years.

Younger? Once again someone comes with this uttterly stupid line. We never need to get a younger player, we do instead need a better or more suitable player. why not put on the primavera then so all posters that want young players get satisfied.

I prefer great play and wins over seeing young players strutt around.

Anyone wanting to know the meaning of ungrateful should visit this thread pirlo is one of the best players in the world. Milan would only suffer by leaving him out of the team. The legend Cruyff him self described Pirlo as the best deeplying playmaker in the world.

Agree on Dhorasoo. Can't understand why is the last in the queue with Ancelotti?
Vicente on the bench? Good joke. He'd be a definite starter in every game. A player to put Milan on another level.
Agree, that youth is no substitute to class. Funny reading some old 2001 thread in xtratime when most of the Milan fans preferred young and talented Commandini to Inzaghi....
