Baresi is an unknown quantity at this point
If we don't make any transfers, I'd probably go with this formation:

---Dida---

Simic-----Nesta-----Kaladze-------Serginho

Gattuso-----Pirlo----Seedorf

-----Kaka-----

Gilardino---Borriello
_______________________________________________________________

With a few transfers:

------Dida------

Miguel-------Nesta-------Kaladze------Cole

Gattuso-----Pirlo-----Seedorf

-----Kaka-----

Giardino/Pippo-------Crespo/RVN

In the middle of the defense, I must admit I've been very impressed with the performance of Kaladze. Maldini, as much as I wish he could play until 80, I don't think he's capable of playing 90 minutes for an entire year and play CL football on top of that. Also, the same goes for Costacurta.
I think at the end of the upcoming campaign, we'll probably lose Maldini, Cafu, Costacurta, and Serginho because of old age

he can play at Left and right wing, so he is an attacking mid, a bit like Donadoni, who he is often compared to.

Costacurta should have retired this summer, Maldini will probably retire next summer ( i hope he stops at the right time rather than playing on and on and only being involved in a couple of games) and Cafu will go next summer unless used in a deal.

Serginho will be ok for another couple of years he's only 34 i think.

the funny thing is that most of the retired players that took part of the Dennis Bergkamp farewell match are in fact younger than some of our defenders...

I'm sure our transfer scouts were at the Bergkamp testimonial keeping their eyes open in the second match for any potential young talent

Yes, that Danny Blind and Wim Jonk look like they could fit right in here !

forget wrighty..we should go and re-sign van basten!!

he looked very good for someone thats not played football in while.

he even managed to turn cygan (ok, hes not that good a defender but still hes alot younger than van basten) by chipping the ball over his head with his right foot and then volleying it towards goal with his left...very impressive marco

I would go with 4-5-1 formation. This means one striker (Gilardino).
Dida,
Cafu, Nesta, Kaladze, Serginho,
Pirlo,
Gattuso, Janku,
Kaka, Gourcuff,
Gila

Dida

Kala, Nesta, Maldini
Pirlo
Cafu, Seedorf, Gattruso, Foggia
Kaka
(TEVEZ) or Gila

Cafu, and Foggia whip in the crosses for our lone strikers to take of the finishing. Kaka as always running at the defenders. Pirlo holding midfielder and does what he did best at the world cup. Sorted!
