i have to agree K77SH, i was calling for him to go in the Summer for dragging us into the calciopoli trial, and wasting time going after Sobis and Ronaldo....

I just cant see the logic behind what hes doing now, and what he has done over the last 4 years...

Many of us like Contra, but had we not replaced him, would we have got Cafu. Realism is what is needed.

Cafu wasn't Contra's substitute. We sold Contra to finance Nesta, also because Contra had this big fight with Davids in the pre-season friendlies.

We used Simic as right fullback for like 2/3 of a season, then RJ, Costacurta, and won the CL, and one season after, Cafu came as Bosman.

we did replace Sheva, we got RO but he needs time to find his feet, so let's not be too quick to bash him so soon - I personally think the more he plays, the more he improves as he gets used to a new style and new teammates.

If not him, who could have really replaced Sheva though - Henry, Eto'o? How many great strikers of SHeva's magnitude are really available out there. Truth is that RO is at least as good as any of our other chances beyond untouchable players liek Etoo and Henry.

As for Gallas, he was indeed one of my most favoured options for a CD, but how do buy a player who has just come out and bashed Iatly and Italian by calling them cheats and whatnot?
As for why he wasn't included in the Sheva deal, I and Jim_UK had discussed this a lot and my opinion is that, at the time when the Sheva deal was going down, Milan were facing the possibility of relagation to Serie B - that was long before the first calciopoli verdics came out - and they preferred hard cash for Sheva with no player swap involved, becuase had we been relegated to serie A, cash would have done us much more good than an extra quality player like Gallas since we would have had to cover enormous financial losses.

Then again, calciopoli and all the uncertainties it brought us, gave us no time to find a suitable replacement for Pirlo's cover - Vogel. Same could be said about a new RB. How many truely Milan-quality players are out there in that position. Can transfers of players like Miguel or Alves be completed in a week?

Then again maybe we could have gone for Reveilliere but then we decided to focus on Oddo - in getting the Frenchman there is also the "Lyon" factor as Lyon would have hardly been happy to sell their starting RB with only several days left of the transfer period, in which they had to find a replacement for him, because having only Clerc is not enough.

So, maybe Oddo was our most realistic target but then Lotito started asking crazy money for him - 8 mil BP being mentioned and that for a 30 yo player. Did that mean that we had to pay as much as Lazio asked for just to get the player? Maybe, if we had more time on our hands, we could have negotiated something there but again - calciopoli didn't leave us the luxury of time so we had to satisfyourselves with quick - and that often means non-lucrative - moves in a last-minute transfer market that was rather poor in quality options.

extremely well paid chair. Galliani once said "that he knows if you are close to Berlusconi you will be successful."

This man loves Berlusconi, idolizes him.

Galliani and Breida have been terribly incompetent in the last few transfer campaigns. I always thought that somehow continuity would prevail and we would offset the bonehead moves (or lack of) in the transfer market with compact and entertaining performances.

After the 2-0 loss today, I felt my optimism was wholly misplaced .

Galliani has nothing to do with how the team performs, he has nothing to do with how they play or why they can't score....

The current issue is at least in part due to Carlo's tactics but the root of it is in transfers too. Looks very much like Pippo and Gila can't be on the same team, if they are both going to be starters anyhow.
Replacing Sheva is not exactly the problem, there is no player right now that had his goal scoring and big match temperament for us.
I have no doubt Berlusconi has a big part in transfer dealing but I don't think he is over riding or refusing Galliani requests.

well said rezag, it has to be either a mix up between Galliani made no decisions (more worried about the trial) or Belusconi told him to spend as lil as possible in order to try and get Ronaldinho next year...

Have to agree replacing sheva wasnt the problem, they just choose the wrong player.. We needed a player to come in straight away and make a difference, not a player who was injured and who was trying to recover his form... that is the reason i think Ancelloti is starting Pippo, its because he doesnt trust (doesnt want to risk) Oliviera, which has to make u ask the question why did we get him.. We would be ok if Borriello was the same player type as Oliveira, but instead we have 3 strikers who are similar...

saying that rezag, i had a wierd dream the other day in which Inzaghi left Milan... that was kinda weird...

I guess everything has to go wrong for such a mess. From Berlusconi to Galliani to Ancelotti to players, everyone has a fair share.

We (Milan) need to calm down and get patient and play one good game at a time. No other valid solution in the sight (buying? not to mention it is not January yet, even it was, let's be honest - who could we buy that can help immediately? calling for anybody's head is not going to help either; in my opinion, it could only lead to bigger chaos), but if we come down to earth and take serious in each match to come (but don't make every game a must-win!) and see what's going to happen, hopefully that can take out of the current dire situation gradually.

Yes Oliveira did replace Sheva, but thats like replacing Kaka with say Maresca who is a very good player as Oli may well be. both have alot to prove and I hope they do. But a club like Milan cant be run in this way. If we were going to sell one of our big fish then he had to be replaced with another big fish ie Henry or a emerging star like Tevez who has subsequently confused the footballing world . As many of you said, no one was available at the time.

If this is the case then the management would surely look to reinforce other areas by bringing in players like Grosso, Barzagli or De Rossi. We may not have been able to make the team stronger in Sheva's position, but there are other positions that need to be looked at.

Unfortunately football isnt only won on the pitch these days. There is a reason why all the Milan/Real/Barca/Manu United forums are full on transfer deadline day. Because the players that clubs choose to buy or not buy are going to have a major affect on the outcome on the following season. Many of you agree that Milan are affected by $heva leaving. So why then arent we affected by Alvez or Barzagli not coming.

Whether we like it or not the decisions made by the management or as important, if not more important than Carlo's.

Having criticised the management so much Im really happy with four of the players they bought at a young age. Pirlo, Kaka, Gila and Gourcuff. I only wish they could do something similar to reinforce our defence. Alvez, Marcello, Kompany anyone, but please someone other than another Favalli.

Xudong, I remember Simic at right back eventually being benched in favour of RJ. But Cafu was the eventual replacement for Contra as the others were not permanent options. At least I hope they werent.

Zlatanov beat me to the punch, but he is right, galliani and ancelotti are just employees, though Galliani has acted a de-facto CEO over the last couple of yrs. For better or worse, when you play in a country like Italy, where football, business and politics are all entertwined, and when your owner is the most controversial and mediatized person the country has, then haters and controversy will arise. I didn't see the game today but I heard that we had 2 clear pks and gourcuff had a shot cross the line was waved off. Pieri, along with Farina, Dondarini, racalbulto and God knows who else are corrupt pieces of ****, so that also compounds our misery. As a milan fan, I try to cheer for every player we get but reality is that some are just not up to par. We are in the black financially from the tv rights, champions league money, and sponsors, but since Berlusconi is a poker-face chameleon, you never know if he really loves milan or uses it as a marketing plow for his political ambitions. Therefore, he won't spend as freely as most billionaire owners (abrahamovic) and galliani being a pupet and good company man has to talk the company line. The whole ronaldinho saga that berlusca keeps on mentioning is just a pr ploy. Why buy another 10 when we have the best in kaka. With those 80 million, if really available, we could buy 5 excellent players. The calciopoli did really **** us, but hated juve kept del piero, nedved, buffon, trez, camoranesi, and nedved while adding a couple of good players. From the beginning we knew we would play in A, so we could have purchased a couple of defenders (oddo and lugano would have cost a combined 10 mill), another mid and 2 and not 1 fwd. What worries me the most is that with this continued mediocrity our best player (kaka) and in my opinion the best player we bought in the last 10 yrs (apologies to shevchenko) may leave or may be tempted by the madrid devils to leave. that would be the real disaster!!! How then can you be considered a great club if in consecutive yrs, you lose shevchenko, and possibly kaka and nesta, if the lazio rumors are true. berlusconi either needs to sell to someone who will invest regularly in this beautiful and great club or he should put his money where his mouth is.

forgot to add though this may be for a transfer forum, but miguel of valencia was there for the taking before he left benfica last yr, and i don't think he cost an exorbitant amount. Benfica has replaced him with another skilled player in Nelson, who will be available for the right price. The more I think about it, the fwd that would have been the answer for us and even been an upgrade over shevchenko at this pt, is eto'o. Why not spen 40-50 million for a 24-25 yr old top fwd who has scored over 40 goals the last 2 yrs in la liga and scored the equalizer in the champions final. His credentials are impecable and he would have been a perfect complement to kaka and gila. Why is it always teams like benfica, lyon, porto, anderlecht, and ajax that find young talent. Being a big club should not preclude us from going that route.

...not many people here have mentioned RO personal problem. His sister is still kidnapped without any news or updates...I'm not justifying his current form because is not like he was playing better before that incident but still...

I think the only our problem is Carlo Anceloti...Last year he only played the Champions League, in Seria A we had a chance, but he played a lot of games with guys from bench...This year our team isn't so nice like last year, but still we have ok team, and i think that AC Milan deserves more than 4 -3 -3...If we have Marco Van Basten he would make our formation different with a lot of younger players...

If we've been the most successful team over the last 3-4 years, who takes credit for it? The Management does, and rightfully so.

If we've had a piss poor transfer campaign and having a crap start to the season mainly because we did not adequately replace our departed players, did not address problems in defence, and waste squad space with stop-gap players like Favalli. Who should take the blame? Management should have enough balls to take the blame as well.

Inter let go of Favalli, we gladly pick him up. They get Maicon and Grosso. And dont even use the Calciopoli as an excuse. Juve KNEW all along that they were going down, they KNEW that they would lose some top names---but look at their squad today. They still have Buffon, Camoranesi, Trezeguet, Nedved, Del Piero, and they signed Bojinov---even while playing in serie b. Juve's squad today is not much inferior to ours. We really should have done better.

Ofcourse Galliani is not responsible in how the team plays and in how our starting 11 are fielded. BUT, Galliani and Braida are responsible for listening to Carlo Ancelotti and bringing the players he wanted (eg. Crespo), and not just go for the cheapest available option. FFS, Sheva left, ANDREI SHEVCHENKO, a LEGEND in Milan, not just any player, but A LEGEND. We got 30m pounds from his sale which we could have spent on another striker and not only that, we have a president who is a multi-billionaire, and milan isnt exactly one of the teams that are in financial crisis.

THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE NOT TO SPEND MONEY ON PLAYERS. They better start showing ambition or even the players we have will turn their backs on us. They better start bidding 20m euros for world-class midfielders in the shape of Robben, Diarra, Ribery, not go for the STUPIDEST move in giving away an all-round good midfielder (Vogel) to get Oliveira. I mean, we paid 12m AND gave them Vogel, how BAD of a deal is that? We are already starting to feel Vogel's departure and Ambrosini isn't exactly the ideal player to have in ur squad, and Oliveira has been here for 2 months already and has not exactly lit San Siro on fire.

Remove Galliani & Braida. You can even put in Cesare Maldini there, its not like there is no other good people available. Enough is enough.
