No it's not a misunderstanding zZ[-_-]Zz, i'm aware of who has labelled him, i just think it piles more pressure onto a young player and is absurd. I don't think people like Costacurta or Vogel are helping matters when they continue to use these labels. We could possibly have a great talent in our hands so lets not make him start believing he's the next Zidane or a petit Zidane or whatever by using these labels every five minutes.

If you tell someone something for long enough and often enough, they'll believe it. Which is why in my opinion he should just be left to play his natural game. I'm not saying don't praise him at all, just that they should be careful with what they say.

I agree with what you rsaying Jim, but he does need a point of reference, and why not the player every French Att Mid wants to be??

It all depends on Gourcuff's own personality whether something like this will push him on, or drag him down.
In his shoes I'd feel such confidence if a player like Billy sees me going along the same career path of Zidane, minus Madrid, headbutts, & balding, and having at least 3 more Euroean cups too.

Isn't it about time we move this Gourcuff talk from the "Transfers"-section to the "Players"-section? Yes, he is ours...

Prone to moments of madness in matches with some signficance?

Surely a "Petit Zidane" is a midget wrestler who headbutts you in the knee??
We are not talking about looks, Tony75, no offence but that was a useless point, funny, but useless...

He plays like "petit Zidane" He does not headbutt like "non petit Zidane"

i wasn't actually suggesting he was the next zidane. I was making a comment about how lame our transfer campaign had been.

I was saying, that unless Gourcruff is absolutely amazing we've no hope of winning anything this season because he's the only offensive addition to a team that desperately needs adding too.

similarly, Bonera will need to start playing very, very well because we've lumped a lot on his shoulders.
