Where have you read that? Van der Sar is irrepalcable at the moment. And he is aslmost the same age as Dida... so this move is very unlikely IMO

If we sat down with them and started talking figures, i think an offer of £20-25 million plus Amorouso would be very tempting for them. All these clubs are the same, they talk about the big figures but it hardly ever happens like that. He has no European experience, no CL experience, a small number of appearances and goals for his country (senior team) ... i don't see what there is to fear about his transfer fee. All these ideas of inflamed prices are ridiculous, just to scare people off. If we went in hard and showed them the money so to speak, they would find it hard to resist.
I agree but it's not just the transfer fee that's the obstacle in Tevez's case - given the close relations between The Corinthians owner and Roman Abramovich, should he leave Brazil, Chelski would have a first option on him.
But still, say we make it down to what you suggest 20-25 mil BP, that's what 30-38 mil euros. Is that nothing for a player who may end up like Riquelme did in Barca?

yeah, you are right - he's gonna be 26 this July. Hmmm, I've always thought he was 24 or so but still, 26 is hardly the end of the world.
Anyway, I just remebered a striker who reminds me a lot of Torres's style, only better than him, IMO - Robin van Persie from Arsenal. he had some problems with the law and there were rumours he could be leaving Arsenal. he should cost about 15mil or so, anyway, probably less than half of what Torres would cost us.
And quite frankly, I can't think of anything Torres can do that van Persie can't do as well. They are pretty much the same age (both are 22) and even have similar physique.

people, we cant just pick a player and buy him. Torres is for sale, and if Berlusconi wants him, Milan will have him. You'll see it. We lost Sheva and we will recuperate.

Well if Chelsea buy Torres they won't buy Tevez aswell. Everyone thought Chelsea had first option on Kompany, but he's off to Wolfsburg. If we don't ask we'll never know. I think we should stop worrying about Chelsea and say look, we have £20 million here, lets talk business. The sight of 'real' money for Corinthians will be enough for them to forget about Chelsea.

I know what you're saying Zlatanov, but the chances of getting someone with this much potential for anything less than £20 million is slim i think. If Barca had been more patient with Riquelme, look what they could have ended up with. I'm sure Tevez will be a hit with us, but if he's not then we'll have to be patient and wait. But in the same breath, what has happened to the old argument of 'Spanish players never settle in Italy' ? That annoying stereotype is used again and again yet suddenly no one seems to be mentioning it.

I just think that if we are to spend a large sum, it should be on Tevez and not Torres. Every transfer is a risk, we just have to hope that we get lucky.

Van Persie is going nowhere Zlat. Plus he's not a regular goal scorer. I know Torres didn't score many last season, but in previous seasons he has scored nearer 20 league goals and over i think (i know he did for one season at least). So while Van Persie has alot of skill and talent, he's not a striker, he's a winger.

Milan seems to go for Buffon and maybe even Zambrotta so that could mean we wil not go for Ibra. If we can gewt Torres for 30 mil I'll be happy for that deal. The man needs a little finishing practice and calmness and he is ready to go.

Great post, dude, I fully agree.

BTW: being Torres, Tevez, Cassano or any other player our choice as Sheva's replacement, the most important is tha we have to think and act BIG, we must have ambition. Come on, AC Milan cannot accept oldie throwaways from our rivals, we must ever go for the best players available.

hey, until we ask, we'll never know
I agree that he is sort of a winger but not the classical type. he is more of Reyes' type of winger rather than say Figo or someone like that. Henry was also that type of winger at Monaco - later at Juve, he failed cause they used more as a classical wing, I think (Figo, Nedved, etc).
My point is that players like henry, Reyes, van Persie are very easy to convert to strikers or supporting strikers.
Plus with henry and Reyes staying, with Adebayour just recently joining the club, and with the brand new acquisition of Rosicky, there's hardly any space left for van Persie. True, bergkamp is leaving but my point is that van persie hardly seems to be considered a crucial player like henry or reyes for that matter since they both would be before him in the picking order. So, Arsenal may very well be open to reasonable offers for him.

This is in response to something someone said pages ago. No I don't believe we should buy Ibra.. the guy isn't as good as he has been made out to be.. and doesn't score a lot of goals. Why buy him. Look at his performances for Sweden and Juve this 05-06 season.

We cannot accept second rate material like Ibra, or 'non entities' like Suazo, come on, we are a FOOTBALL LEGEND...!

Tevez wants to leave Corinthians, so that would be a plus for us. I dont think it would cost us more than 30M Euros (40M tops). So I would at least talk with Kia about him and Mascherano. Maybe give them Amoroso to sweeten the deal a little bit.

I strongly believe that Torres is already ours, Oksana... a feeling that in fact I have since the beggining of the year... and the Galliani's recent denials, just the kind of 'undercover operation' he seems to love, reinforced even more my convictions. So let's cross our fingers and hope the deal to be already done. AC Milan are in bad need of fresh talented blood, and picking Torres is really a superb move on the right direction.
