Summer Mercato 2010

I have always loved Ibrahimovic as a player and am damn glad that he is now finally in a Milan jersey.

The term of the deal, as I understand it, is not an option to buy Ibra but rather an obligation. This time next year, we do not have the right to refuse paying 25 million euros to sign him permanently. That is the only reason Barca agreed to this deal. In a way, this is basically a sale except we do not start making payments until 12 months later. Personally, I actually prefer this kind of a deal because it guarantees that we will spend the money to sign Ibrahimovic permanently instead of having the opportunity to cheap out. With this management, you never know what they would do.

Onto the subject of Galliani. Now, I will be the first one to admit that this was a great deal he negotiated, but, I think we need to be careful as a deal this lopsided could very well destroy the relationship between two clubs. I don't suppose I need to remind everyone what happened between us and Inter in the early 2000s. To me, a good business deal is always one that benefits all parties involved instead of one side taking full advantage of the other. Galliani needs to be very very careful about not gloating over this deal and rub it in Barca's face. Matter of fact, I personally wouldn't mind if it we actually gave Barca first refusal on Pato or Silva. We still get to keep the players for as long as we want to, but it helps make Barca feel better about our relationship.

Lastly, I hope we sign Coates and Camilleri before the end of the mercato too. Coates is already in the Uruaguay national team despite being only 20 and Camilleri has also represented Italy in various youth set ups. Those two guys could very well develop into the future of our defense and be our new Nestas. Talents like those don't come along everyday and we need to seize the opportunity to get them before it's too late. Signing them is especially important because I do not recall our youth sector signing many defenders the last couple of years.

Anyway, this was a hell of a good day for me and all Milan fans (well, maybe except for a few). Let's all enjoy this moment and hope that the last couple of days of the mercato will bring us more surprises.

Our team is now stronger then last year, but still lacks things. Depht and 2 players: one good fullback and one versatile forward to change Pato, Dinho.

midfield is too slow, but that cannot be fixed now. NExt year objectives need to be players like Rannochia for LB and one CLASS midfielder ( some non eu may arrive, who knows..)

Also, THANK YOU BERLUSCONI! Its fair to say thanx when someone deserved it. Galliani - +10 for this magic! How? I cant tell... Raiola, thanx a milion for doing this supremly unsport and sneeky deal with Milan! The king of mercato is - Raiola.

It is amazing what one signing an do to the enthusiasm of a team. It's unbeliavable.

I am sure Ibra will raise the level of the team and this signing alone puts us back into title contention.

Also, after this deal I must give big respect to Galliani. I know that Barca were at a tight spot. They really wanted Ibra out at all costs because there was starting to be big unrest in their dressing room. We found out in the last few days that there was a huge problem in their locker room with Barca and that kind of stuff can pick a team apart because the next step is the forming of groups and etc. But regardless of all that, the "bold one" pulls this off where we don't have to pay a penny now, and then will only sign Ibra for 24mil. Really, an unreal deal. Great job Galliani.

Also, if Huntelaar is really on his way out....then all this is just working out perfectly. I am just hoping that we can somehow also get rid of Kaladze and Janku in these last few days of the market . Andthen sign an all-around midfielder or a full back.

Any source about that? 7 mil is really much for a primavera player even many inter fans fear that he will be next Pirlo, Seedorf type of player that have succeeded with Milan.

I don't think Ibra will play tomorow. He missed some days for training, just after a plane and never played with his teammates before.


About this transfer, it is boring, but I must say: simply genius.

From the beginning of his career, he was arrogant and hot temper, like Cassano or Balotteli, but he was still quite professional, didn't fight his own club & coach desperately, training regurlary and helped each of his club to glory. He deserves the respect because he always knows what is the most important, the definition of successful man or in our world, the champion. He is welcome here.

Paying Ibra 9M in Italy is about equal to paying him 12M in Spain, thanks to the different in taxes. He knew that and didn't want to trouble his new club, although that mean almost no pay cut, but he can of course have his pride.

If we sell Hunter for 12M, then we will even profit from both football & finance. We pay Ibra's wage each week chunk by chunk when the 12M could be invested in something to get even more money.

Now I'm waiting for some "minor" things to be happend to finish this great mercarto

Wow, this was work of magic from Galliani! I'm not a big fan of him, but I must say that he's done an AMAZING job here! 24 M euros payed starting from next season for a player who was worth more than 60 just year ago, wonderful job.

We don't have to become greedy now, but if there's a money I would go for a SB for 10-12 M. It's just a shame to play Sokratis at SB, because he's super-talented CB who could replace Nesta in season or two. But who knows, Maldini played SB all his life and than at 40 he was one of the best CBs in the world.

Galiani's magic (im my point of view..)

-starts negotiations with braca and then the player,both asking too much..
-sends braida ar manchester and agrees with robinho as an alternative(putting pressure on both parts)..
-ibra and raiola feeling the pressure lower their demands..
-after giving 30 and rosell asking 50,they seem to agree at 40(it "seems" he ll find the money from hunter and flamini(really?)) .
-both raiola and ibra open their big mouth(i m sure gailani has sth to do with that..),things between them and barca are clearly on the edge..
-milan cannot sell flamini(maybe he doesnt want t leave,maybe offers are not good enough,but for me he was never for sale..)
-galiani cannot match the 40mil after all, but things between ibra and barca are clearly non ireversable anymore..
-galiani gets the player for 24mil,8mil/year..


that is pretty much how things took place imo..so for me he did whatever he f* wanted with every single one,ibra-raiola-rosell..he is the one 90% responsible for this transfer,he is the one personally i feel grateful,the money was already there(remember ricky??)..

ps we should not forget the KPB transfer too,win-win situation..

personally i said many times it would be a huge mistake if we sold him,BUT honestly he has to start contributing more,he has to try more for the money he earns and for this gr8 club that needs a serious and reliable flamini..

personally i have not seen 60% of the player i saw in arsenal..i dont think he will have many more chances..

Yep. There's no way he would be signing a four year contract with Milan -- particularly one significantly different from his Barcelona contract -- if Milan had the option to send him back. This is a "loan" in name only so that Milan could defer any payment until next summer. Signing that new contract commits Ibra and Milan to each other for the next four years.

thats the reason i wont feel bad if we sell Flamini, he costs to much and he didnt contribute yet, on the other hand he didnt have many chances to prove himself, and our midfield are aging, so it will be wise to give him another shot.

Haha. I've just thought if this Ibra's transfer was done by Moggi then all the world must say he is a mafia, he & Raiola are the dirtiest people.

Now, Galliani was not blamed even as an oppotunist, just a tough businessman

lets hope Milan return to spending in the next 2-3 years and start a new cycle.... proud of Galliani's work very much but it cannot be ignored that he is the main reason we have been in this mess in the first place... let's not get ahead of ourselves and think Zlatan is enough for us to win the CL.. in my honest opinion, Kaka-Pato-Ronaldo trident was more compatible and excellent... I hope these three can prove me wrong.
