any chances we can see a setup like this:

Gattuso - Pirlo - Emerson
--- Seedorf -- Gourcuff --
------- Pippo -----------

With Brocchi and Gila coming on later in the game. Nice idea to rest Kaka but Gourcuff has to play, he played well vs Bilbao. Oddo/Pippo shouldn't play a full game IMO, and maybe Maldini can also play a few minutes at the end to get him ready for Shakhtar.

Playing pippo here means you want Gila for CL match? Cant say that I am confident with that...

Gazzetta predicts:

Ambro - Pirlo - Gattuso
Seedorf
Pippo - Gila

I hope not. If Carlo goes with that formation it'll just show how hard-headed he is. He needs to finally understand that Pippo can't work with Gila. Seeing as Seedorf played a full two games for Holland, Gourcuff should be given the green-light for this game.

If this story is true I think he just might get the chance...

What I dont like is that Gila scored a brace in a game we scored 5 and now everyone says Gila is in good form, or revitalised striker Gilardino should start ahead of Pippo, etc etc. I wish that he plays good this game, but it isn't right that we keep praising him for just one good performance after all the other bad ones. I didnt see the Italy game but apparently he did miss a couple of chances that the Gila from Parma would have scored, so he still isn't quite there yet.

I tend to agree.

I want to see a bit more before I jump on the "Gila is back" bandwagon.

Having said that I'm reserving my seat now just in case he does start popping goals.

He had many chances to score in the Italy match, hit the post a few times I think. He was even captain. I would say he is getting his confidence back and should start this game. He could come on as a sub for the Shakhtar game.

When Milan are down to a choice between Gila and Pippo, only an optimist like Berlu could deny that we are in a crisis as far as the attack goes.

Well, all I can say is, with Kaka expected to be out, Seedorf also returning from 2 matches where he played all 90 minutes, we will be short of creativity in the attack, and will probably end up with a draw...especially with Gila and Pippo as our only available forwards....

Gonna be a loooooooooooooong Sunday...

Warro, even with those players missing, you are much better with your reserves and available players then empoli. Milan should be able to pull out of this one, cuz it's still empoli, and Milan will probably not back down, but instead show italia what they can do, even with missing players. But who know's, the unexpected can always occur.

Kaka is, dare I say it, 50% of Milan's strength now. Without Kaka and Clarence, we solely rely on Pirlo in the attack. To make the matter worse, smaller teams tend to play negatively against Milan in SS. I hope Gorky to be fielded since the beginning along with Pirlo, Rino, and Ambro. If we struggle to break Empoli's defense, then Carletto will send Kaka in, but not until the 2nd half

It's not that Gila's back to his best yet, far from it, and obviously his shooting isn't as sharp as it could be, but he's shown a massive improvement in the last 3-4 games, which you yourself said recently.

He should imo start this match ahead of Pippo, as of late he's shown more than Pippo (who I believe is better served in Europe anyway).

As for the Italy match, he did miss chances, but again his performance when on the field was commendable, and I believe he set up the first goal.

For this match I would like to see:

-------------Dida--------------
Oddo----Nesta--Bonera--Janku/Favalli (depending on Janku's fitness)
--Brocchi/Rino---Pirlo--Emo-----
-------Seedorf---Gourcuff------
-------------Gila---------------

For some reason, i have doubts that Gourcuff will start though.
