Week 8 Milan - Empoli 21/10/07

I'm afraid a negative piece of news brings this thread to a start... Channel 4 reports Ronaldo may not even sit on the bench. Galliani admitted this during a round of golf in Como...

http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...ia/oct15j.html

Looks like it’s just Pippo and Gila up front. Pippo's well rested while Gila's playing Wednesday against South Africa. I think his recall into the Azzurri will be a positive mental factor. Couple that with his brace at Lazio and he should be ready to start. We must get all three points here to stay in contention in the Scudetto race.

I think that's ok. With Gila's form of late, it's good for him to get the Empoli match, whilst Ronaldo shouldn't be rushed back now, there's really little point as we don't need him getting injured again quickly.

I am happy that Ronaldo is returning soon according to Galliani. His return along with Maldini's is certainly a shot of confidence for us.

My lineup:

Dida

Oddo - Nesta - Maldini - Bonera

Gattuso - Pirlo - Ambrosini

Seedorf - Kaka

Gilardino

Here's a little Empoli gift. Ladies and gentlemen. I give you The Smiths with The Boy With The Thorn In His Side.

Today Ronaldo and Galliani say that he's not going to be back for Empoli. Sigh.

thanks for the share
I think ronaldo being not available is a fairly good news cuz it will give him some more time to fully recover and starting gila will help him find his best form after his fine performance in rome.

I hate these long international breaks. Glad to see Serie A get going again.

Pretty much answered your own question. Despite being a decent player, Aubameyang is still a kid (under 20) and is only in the squad to make up numbers until we get the rest of our strikeforce back. He isn't likely to be used unless one of two things happen...

1) He somehow impresses Ancelotti and earns a starting spot (which he's failed to do thus far when he has appeared, like in the preseason)

2) We have no other choices and have to use him.

However, he's a decent player that has a long future ahead of him, so he needn't worry to try and break through this season.

Is Aubameyang doing well for the Milan Primavera?

I watched a couple of matches from the youth CL and he totally rocked and was the top scorer of the tournament.

Different Aubameyang, that was Pierre Aubameyang

As Graeme says, that's Pierre (Willy's younger brother). He is doing well in the youth sides though yes.

An in form or 100 percent milan should be able to expose the teams weakness and win the game by a good margin. If not, empoli may use their speed against some relatively slow milan defenders.

Willy < Pierre, sorry to say that but that's what it looks like

Not really, because when Willy played for the Primavera he was scoring a lot of goals as well. Now he has stepped to the senior level and life is more difficult. We can only make the statement that Pierre is better when Pierre steps up in the first team and we see how he does.

All right then. I'd like Pierre Aubameyang to become part of our first team.
