Of course they can. It happens all the time. As long as the one receiving the ball is behind the one passing it, it's all good. If there was any suspicion for offside it was when Vucinic got the ball, but I think Vogel covered that one.

It means one thing - offside. When the pass is in forward direction or when the receiving player is ahead.

I know, Zlatanov, the offside was a possibility in the middle break away, hard to tell..
