i give up peachtot .... although i would be interested to know if you have posted more than 10 times without mentioning Ronaldinho

I think if we do get any players, they should be players that are performing well in Serie A ... and thankfully all the players we have been linked with of late are from Serie A, meaning they don't have to get used to the league or anything.

Ronaldinho is a super player, but IMO Milan is not a right team for him! He can`t play in Serie A at all!

someone mentioned oddo. he is actually a milan nursery product, so he would fit in perfectly in the environment at the club.

i think the no. 1 priority is a replacement for pirlo when andrea is not able to play (suspension or injury or simply when he is granted a rest, which is very rare). we seem to miss him a lot when he is absent. but galliani has said that there are presently no players who can substitute pirlo. the ones ppl often mention are pizarro, baronio and van bommel, but, then again, no one from these 3 resembles pirlo and his unique way of playing the role.

nevertheless, the role of a "no.10 playing in defence" is something very new and created specifically by mazzone for pirlo (and used very cunningly by ancelotti). pirlo isn't an original of the role - he started out as a typical no. 10 ala baggio - see his first games at brescia, inter and italy under 21. so shouldn't milan be looking at a no.10 type of player who would be willing to move to defensive midfield with dedication, as pirlo did?

morfeo would be an example, i think. especially if parma get relegated.

i think maresca is a great choice ... but i think ambro doesnt deserve to see a player coming in and limit his chances, not just because of his goal today but because he has been playing really well these last couple of months

I dont think we need a replacement for Pirlo. We should just amend the system when hes injured. Otherwise there is not a player in the world who could do what Pirlo does and be willing to be a sub too. When Zidane was injured in the World Cup France kept the same system and replaced him with Micoud. It obviously didnt work. Milan have tried and failed with Rui and Ambro. The best bet is just to add an element of pace on the wings ie Serginhio.

We really need someone who can give Cafu a rest too.

Plz tell me an objective reason !!

For me :
IF milan want 1 or two trophies in a year, this time Milan dont need player (striker) like Gila or Cassano or Eto'o or Totti...
But if Milan want to be another Dream Team, Milan should by that player...

ps : Milan could advance to CL'Cup final after beating PSV. I think Milan didn't play as well as it should be and of course MIlan today is still far away to compare with MIlan dream team era...

I know this will be dangerous as buying too many people will unbalance the side. But i think we do need around 6 new faces to be honest. It's hard to criticise a side who is still capable of winning the league and champion's league, but i think other sides have caught up with us and it's time to get tough and put sentiment aside with some players. I recognise that the expansion of the league (why the italian fa decided on that i'll never know, when every country wants to decrease the number of teams in a league, Italy increases the size ) is taking it's toll because the players just aren't used to playing weekends and midweek for long periods of time. But it can't all be put on tiredness.

Most of us here are very fickle, we'll be slating a player for most of the season, then that player plays well for about 4 matches and suddenly we all love them again and don't want them to leave. If we want to be dominant for seasons to come, then we need top quality players, not just make-shifts ... unproven players or free-transfers (unless there a good purchase like van Bommel).

What we lack right now is pace in every department of the game. We have hardly any pace in defence, none in midfield and some in attack. We have 1 regular goal scoring threat in Shevchenko and that's it. If you stop him and Kaka, then you almost stop the whole team. For a team like ourselves to be so reliant on a handful of players is disappointing to be honest.

People will say we don't need lots of changes, that we don't need replacements for Pirlo or whoever, well i disagree. Think of all the points we dropped or matches we've played poorly in and you'll see that just the inclusion of 1 quality midfielder might have changed things. All the times when our main midfielders were either out of form or were unfit, they could have been rested until they were 100% ready if we had a just one very good midfielder in our squad. Ambrosini is fantastic, has milan in his blood, but we all know he's not as technical as most. There's always Dhorassoo, but he's hardly been used which screams to me that Ancelotti doesn't trust him. Same with Simic. Cafu's been crying out for a decent rest, yet instead of playing our next most recognized right-back, we play Costacurta or Stam. So why do we keep those 2 if we won't use them. Surely it's better to have people used to the league who are ready to be used and then use them regularly, rather than have players rotting on the bench.

The 4 players in the title of this thread are good, i would maybe only add the odd 1 or 2 others, even if it meant loaning them out. At least we'd have them should we need them. A club of Milan's stature and presence can't get by on just getting free-transfers or squad players, at some point soon we'll have to splash out like we did for Nesta, Rui and Inzaghi if we expect to continue getting trophies. All i hope for is that whoever comes in is better and has more pace than what we have now so we have a competitive squad that isn't solely reliant on 2-3 players.

So come on Milan, make the other teams tremble with the players we get this summer !!!!!

Bravo!! this was great post!! Im totally agree on this. We need some pace in midfield. Cafu cant play all the time, and strikers are off form. We need replacement for cafu, and quality striker if we want to doninate europe next year. So mr.Galliani - splash some cash this year!!! But we have all thoes unused players like simic and dhorasso...why???
Simic can surely play as RB and can do really well. But he never plays, ancelotti really mekes me angry sometimes with his stupid tactics and ideas...

im not sure ur 100% right, tell me, if we get 6 more players what are the chances of seeing all of them play as well as the already subs play, say we get cassetti, cafu has only recently looked tired, so cassetti plays 2-3 games and then its back to the bench! ... are u telling me those 2-3 games are worth the money wed spend on him? whats cruel about football is that its not easy to win when ur changing the formation from game to game, and its not easy for the same formation to always win, but if i were coach id go with choice number 2, i think all we need is gilardino, jankulovski, and a fast striker if 2 of JDT/inzaghi/crespo arent here next season ... even if we do get pacy players, they need time to find theyre form, ambrosini has proven this, i remember when he had a chance vs reggina he looked terrible and everyone bashed him, but with time he got more games and look at him now, hes been our best player for a while.

as for the games where we dropped points vs brescia.. etc, well name me 1 team in the whole world that never drops points, its true we had the game in our hands, but this is part of football and u have to accept it, and frankly if anything us milan fans have to accept it because weve won countless games in the dying seconds.

and besides nobody said that winning the double would be easy, so far weve been great, even when we look tired were still winning and thats all what counts, and to think that some of you question ancelotti... the guy in his first season got us the CL, coppa italia then the italian and european super cup along with the scudetto and come the end of the month maybe the another scudetto and CL title

In no way am i attacking Ancelotti, i wouldn't do that as i think he's a good coach, plus he knows what he's doing better than any of us

I understand your points mk and i'm not saying it's going to be easy, but surely having a few more players at your disposal would make run-ins like ours right now alot easier. Naturally a similar amount of players would leave to those who are bought in, so as not to make our squad a ridiculous size. If you think of how many games we'll have played this season, 38 in the league, 15 in the CL, i can't remember how far we got in the Coppa Italia so 4 or 6 games in that ... plus various one off games and you have a total of about 60. Using the Cassetti example, would Cafu have to play that many games ? No, he shouldn't have to IF we want the best out of him at the business end of the season. So if you include being a sub i think it's fair to say that Cassetti could end up with 20 - 30 appearances in a season. That would give Cafu 30 full games aswell as say 15 three-quarter games. I think that's plenty and fair enough on both players. It's the same with anyone else. If we just had Pizzaro he could take either Seedorf's or Pirlo's place as and when needed and end up with a large number of appearances.

Thinking about it, maybe 6 is too many as Jankulovski can play in Seedorf's role if needed aswell. He's played wide left for Udinese alot this season so it's not impossible for him to play alongside Pirlo and Gattuso sometimes.

It's not my intention to have a go at the team for losing points, like you said mk, all teams do that. But i'm just saying some of these points might have been regained if we had other players that Ancelotti trusted and were used to our league.

I think the 4 mentioned here and say Esposito or Miccoli would be ideal for us. Pace, goal scoring threats, Serie A quality, it's what we need in my opinion

i agree with u recent post more than the previous one, and just for the record i know u didnt attack carlo, that was directed at the ones who do such as mrki

after reading the jankulovski part, then it makes me think why not go for players like him, who can play in more than one position, instead of having a replacement that specializes in 1 position only why not have a player that can play in 3 positions, this is why janku would be a great buy, some would think, now who would i bench from stam nesta and maldini, and maybe seedorf... well its not as often as it seems that all 4 play at the same time, so janku would get alot of paying time... and he might perform better than seedorf.

i think gila and janku and a speedy striker that can also play in kakas role would be good enough, by the way jamie, u know why i like valencias sissoko who no one here happens to know? ... not only is he an excellent playerbut he has a rare ability, he plays very well in DM and he played equally good for valencia at RB because curro torres was injured... keep and eye on this guy, hes definatly one for the future.. then u can say i shouldve listened to MK18
