The lack of patience coming from some fans here is quite pathetic really. There is no doubt in my mind that Gilardino, once he is allowed to develop a proper partnership, will become one of the all time great Italian forwards...

The Juve fans see it, he did well enuf for a rookie at the World Cup, doing much more than strikers more senior than he did, yet, we are dying to sell him, when we have Pippo who cannot have more than one more year at the highest level left in him.

Is he better than Borrielo? I should think so. As good as Oliveira? I would place my last dollar that, presented with the opportunities Oli got vs Atalanta, that Gila would have scored at least one of them...and was actually denied by a World Class Save by the Atalanta keeper.

I shudder to think of our team facing him...he is yet to truly shine, yet remains our leading goal scoring striker this season.

Sell him? I wouldnt....regardless of who he was photographed with...and how come no one has any more on this story?

You have got to be kidding me Warro
Gila is a good player not doubt but he surely isn't Milan standard.....That said neither are Boriello or Olivera atm....but the role Gila was brought for was to be our chief goalscorer. He hasn't done that in any form or fashion. Eight goals in too many games is a poor statistic!! Its like buying a generator to power your house but you later find out that it only has enough juice for your livingroom. Should I now be grateful that my living room has power or should I be mad that my whole house is dark??

Gila was later re-sent to his rightful position on the bench in hie first year, after Inzaghi recovered, and the truth is I'd still pick Super Pippo at 34 than Gila right now. The guy plays passionless compared to Pippo. The sad thing is that he is the one of the most talented Italian strikers of the present....but seems to lack something either mentally or internally that would make him cutting edge. Milan players aren't always the most talented, but they surely stretch themselves for the team everytime. I haven't noticed this as yet with Gila.

And Gila was rubbish in the WC He had ONE goal and ONE assist. Out-of-shape out of form Ronaldo scored three. Sheva scored three with a second rate side. I know many would say that we aren't supposed to be comparing Gila with Ronaldo and Sheva, but I think Milan players hsould be able to give the top in any position a run for their money. this guy plays with Totti, Pirlo, Cammo etc etc and all he could conjure up was ONE goal? Hell no! Pippo as a sub scored One goal...and what a sexy goal it was too
Well enough for a rookie was Tevez or Messi or even Fred or Robinho NOT Gila

The thing about Olivera, even though he's selfish and perhaps not as skilled as we thought...he's trying! As a Milan mover I can feel the effort Olivera puts in. Gila doesn't seem to love the shirt as much as the others....but then again what should I expect from a Juve fan???

Must be the Caribbean air, I share the same sentiments(with Warro). Let's hope Gilardino sees his full potential in a Milan jersey! I know he has it in him. This season was a more or less off season for everyone.

You can say whatever you want about him not reaching his maximum potential yet, but need to realize that you're saying things that are not true... after all... HE IS OUR LEADING SCORER FOR THE SEASON...

This is not the problem Drucurl !
Zambrotta as a Milan fan became the best full back in the world while wearing Juve's shirt.
If i'm a football player, and a Juve fan as i am, and if i play for Inter, i'm sure i'll give 100% on every match even though they are my favourite team's rivals and i dislike them. It's called proffesionalism.

Ehh....didn't Gila only play 2 games?! And his second game was as a sub. I thought he was fantastic to be honest. None of the Italian strikers did particularly well. Luca Toni, the top goalscorer of Serie A, only scored 3 against a very mediocre Ukraine side. Gila scored one goal and gave one assist in 1.5 appearances. I'd say that's pretty good.

Personally, I think we should have faith in Gila. I don't think he's any worse than the rest of our squad to be honest. Besides, he's shown flashes of brilliance in Dec. and Jan. He scored against Inter and Fiorentina too, so we can't say that he never scores against big sides. And I think he played a HUGE part in our resurgence with his goals and assists against Fiorentina, Catania and Udinese. He basically brought back some of the faith and self belief that we lost. I have faith that Gila will soon become an important player for us.

One of my main reasons for believing in him is because I think he really does love Milan. Despite the claims he made earlier that he once liked Juve, I believe that he is now a true Rossonero. I don't think he WANTS to leave now, especially since his bestfriend Bonera is here at Milan.

Just read this:

Here is an excerpt from Alberto Gilardino’s interview on the Italian talk show Segni Particolari:

The players are a fundamental part of football and our attitude on the field counts because millions of people are watching us. The fans are also really important. It would be fundamental to have our fans with us at the San Siro against Livorno. The San Siro staff is hard at work so that the fans can be there with us on Sunday. We hope to receive some good news by Saturday night. There is something missing from the game without the fans and we hope that at least the season ticket holders can attend the game at the San Siro.

First they said that I couldn’t score in the Champions League, then in important games, no there’s talk about Ronaldo. It doesn’t matter though because pressure is good, it makes you give your all. I have always tried my hardest, even in difficult times. I think you just have to stay positive, both the public and the players, because that’s what football needs.

My arrival at Milan was one of the most beautiful moments in my life. I’ll never forget the warm welcome that I received. It was incredible. It was a dream come true.

I have a great relationship with Marek. He is a good guy and a great player. We joke around a lot. Also, we arrived at Milan at about the same time so we are really close. Ricardo Oliveira is doing better, both psychologically and physically, and you can see it in training. In regards to Ronaldo, I can say that I’ve always dreamed of playing with great champions, even because it makes winning all that much easier. There has never been any rivalry between Pippo and I, in reality he was the one that helped me adapt when I first arrived. We have a great relationship.

Bonera is amazing! We have a friendship that goes beyond football. He has always supported me, just like all the rest of the team.

In the difficult moments over this summer, I said that I would never leave Milan and that’s still as true today as it was then. On Sunday, I hope to score my thirtieth goal in a Milan jersey. We must concentrate on the game, the three points, and of course with the fans at the stadium it would be even better.

You wouldn't expect bad stuff about our players to come out in acmilan.com now would you if you read the news on goal.com you would know that he is considering moving to Juve
And tony, if you played for Inter it would make sense to play as well as you can because Inter have a habit of getting rid of their best players like Canna Ronaldo, Seedorf, Pirlo etc etc

But instead, he humuliates AC Milan infront of the entire world with the most ridiculous dive of all time. Im afraid its time for Gila to leave, no matter how good he was, he just isn't consistent enough at Milan. Here's a video of his pathetic dive:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cn34xQU2M94

I thought he learnt from his mistake but I was wrong. Last night he also dived against Palermo and earned a penalty. He has been diving for Milan for quite a while now but no one actually admits it. If you dont believe me, try to notice him in the next few games.
I think gila is still a young player and with time he will improve , I think he would be the greatest striker to wear a milan jersey, if one looks critically at the career of ronaldo of man u it was the same , young players can do anything to help even if it means diving to get penalties .

Of all our current strikers, Gila has the best potential (Ronaldo has or is at his peak, Oliveira is also, as far as I see it) Marco will never be as good as Gila, and Pippo is past it.

So why sell him? Retire Pippo, sell Borriello, keep Oli, Ronaldo and Gila, and buy one more enterprising talent, like "Quagli..however u spell his name..ra"...or Robinho...or Luca Toni...or somesuch...

Gilardino is a good striker, but he has not yet realized his potential at Milan.

With that said, he still scores for us, and I for one want him in our team.

Giladinho will form the best attacking pair in the whole Europe with Ronaldo. Just give him another season. After all he is the one who will over come Marco Van Basten as the best Milan striker ever

I don't understand why all this Gilardino optimism all of a sudden when he has failed to show that potential for 2 seasons now. Gila doesn't fit in Milan, I say sell him and get 20 million euros that can be used to buy better suited players. I see Gila fitting well into Juve that is why Milan should refrain from selling him to serie A club in case they decide to sell him.
