The fact that Nesta is the elegant long-hair Latin defender doesn't mean he is not physically imposing.

Nesta does physically impose himself more than some others do, but he's not a physically dominating player imo. At least, he's not of the same mould of guys like Vidic, Terry, Carrozieri, Chiellini or even Rio Ferdinand who use their physical strength to dominate opponents.

However, we still have guys like Baresi, Maldini and Costacurta who are legends in the game but hardly the most physically dominating players. They are aggressive and it's their anticipation of the ball and reading of the game that makes them so great (as with Nesta). Senderos is a big strong guy, but he struggles a lot against physical players because he doesn't read the game well. This is why I don't buy that our "small" defenders can't handle physical opponents.

we played well but gave up by the end of the match, even with almighty Flamini on the field (omg, omg, omg, really?). cause we were all sure from previous matches that Flamini's presence won't let that happen.

Senderos had only one serious mistake when he let the guy spring through him, otherwise really solid performance. Let's not compare him to the weekend's Kaladze for example....

Senderos was ok, favalli pathetic, the defending as a whole is shocking. Exactly what is our defensive system? I can't make it out at all.
