It doesn't matter what VDV wants. First is what Milan want and Milan don't want him. I agree with Milan. He is good player but Milan should look at better quality to fill in playmaker or CAM spot.

i think that we wont sign both Luiz and Coentraro, if its up to me, i'd sign both of them. Luiz is one of the best defenders of his genaration, would form a steal partneship with our Thiago Silva, nesta is aged, also considering his injuries, we had better to sign him and however honestly, i have a feeling that Milan will go for Mexes and we will end up with him, because his contract is expring and Roma will deal perman. Borriello, in this case, Mexes is very close to us if you ask me.

it seems we are more Criscito, Mexes than Coentraro and Luiz cuz they are cheap unlike them...

Yea I agree. I think Milan's backline has not been really reliable since (Staam, Nesta, Maldini, Cafu)... I think since then Berlusconi and Galliani have care more about Forwards (Sheva, Inzaghi, Kaka, Ronaldo, Huntelaar, Borriello, Ibra, Robinho, Cassano, Pato)...

Since Ranocchia's ship has sailed and the talent pool for CB's seems to be slim, then Luiz is very important to us. Would be funny to have 2 Brazilian CB's as the wall of Milan

Criscito not a terrible option, but I prefer Coentrao. Luiz seems a must at this point, given Nesta's age, Sokratis and Yepes' performances, and the lack of other quality CB's around.

Balo scored a Hat Trick yesterday against Aston Villa, and I don't think he's going anywhere. Plus we have a lot of forwards now. If we get rid of Inzaghi and Cassano, then even still we would have Ibra, Pato, and Robinho (3 WC players)... so as other posters have said, how do you rotate 4 strikers? Seems impossible to me...

mzk57 is an unknown quantity at this point
The only thing I don't like about Cassano's arrival is that it has completely locked the door for the potential ACM next-stars like Dzeko, Nilmar & G.Rossi. I would prefer all of them to Robinho for sure, to some extent Ibrahimovic & even Pato if continues to struggle with injuries like a 33 year old.

Will we ever see a $hevchenko type striker again in ACM

looking at how he is playing this season and how Ibra is playing and the price we will pay for Ibra, we dodged a bullet there imo.

as long as he doesnt go to juventus, im fine with it. The Dzeko-Milan dream was over long ago when we didnt pay "over the top" for him. And rightfully so.
It's a shame though...

Regardless the real quality of both players mentioned by Boban, I don't see any mistake with 'milan material and aren't milan material". Our current and financial willing shouldn't be the reason we decrease our quality very fast. With current financial situation we can still get players that are similar quality with what we have done with of course much reduced price. Examples are how quality players like Ibra and Robinho were brought with discounted price or transfer of talents like Pato and Silva.

Milan is still Milan, is not a small club like Bari, Casena or so. We should have certain level of quality for our future players especially for our starters. With our financial problem we naturally need time to build a team that have quality suit to our level.

I understand what you're saying but it is rare we will be able to pull off deals like Ibra and Robinho. Plus, we let a lot of our older guys retire and never sold them for money (Oddo, Favalli, Jankulovski, Kaladze, Serginho, Cafu)....
Some of these contracts (Janku, Oddo) were overpriced and now we're eating that.. we were lucky to offload Kaldze.

Anyways, teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea can buy who they want when they want. Yes they are in debt but they seem not to care about that. I'm not sure how that will all work out. Anyways, we desperately need a LB and then we will need to replace Pirlo/Seedorf/Ambrosini/Gattuso. Also as we've said a CB and a striker to replace Inzaghi. This will cost money as we have nothing to sell. Players come to Milan and retire here. There are good things about that but also financially, a bad thing, and that is that we don't re-coup any money.

We will struggle in Champions League if we do not buy a WC LB and then an ACM, and also a CB when Nesta goes....I don't see any bargains as answers to those problems.

Agreed... Milan seem to be a place where careers are ended like Qatar etc..players become old and useless and we cant off load them for chips to any club...with that said, now we NEED world class re-enforcements like a heart transplant and if we dont get them we are as good as dead... injuries are inevitable esp for Nesta and we struggle without him and Silva in the line up as the other squad players are liabilities!!! if we need good quality players we have to splash the cash and be competitive in the transfer market... but the million dollar question is "Where is he Money going to come from?" we cant operate in a massive debt like other clubs because our revenue and chances of winning trophies/prizes or gaining TV revenue from long runs in the champions league are very slim (esp without the required new signings)... my best guess it to take the risk and invest in some good players and try to win some prise money eg. CL or league title or both!!! What happen to that 15 mil from fly emirates?

Of course. The key is spending money smartly. No more signing a player like Ronaldinho, a player in rapid declining of performance with huge wage wage. Or old players with big wages. We already know that league like La Liga has advantage regarding tax of player's wages and we did give our players so much money for their wages. If Milan, for example, can spare 5 million euros per year for wages, it means Milan will have about 10 mil euros per year to add into transfer budget due to almost 50% tax in Italy.

Milan could also buy players in which their contracts are ending but again should be careful of their wages since players out of contract normally cost more in wages than players bought with transfer fee.

Spending money for transfer is however still very important. Super talents should be priority since their price will be at least double in just 1-2 years and Milan can't buy them when they already play in big club or even in mediocre club like Palermo since their price will be crazy.

It is hard to make Milan filled with quality players similar like before but it shouldn't be a barrier that block Milan to do that (getting quality players).
