Will Crespo score this year?

I don't know what to say aboyt this player!Although he is a very talented player he has so many ups and downs.

He made terrific seasons with Parma and Inter but struggled with Lazio and Chelsea.

This year plays for our club and i wonder if he can find his old striking ability.Last Sunday he wasted some good chances and generally this year in the games he was a starter he wasn't good.Maybe instead of getting him this summer we should have gotten a more in-form striker.


Therefore i would like to hear your opinion about Crespo.

I read in some reviews of the derby that he played a good first half....I wouldn't know because I didn't see the first half, only the second, and in the second half he didn't do much, he was very quiet, Sheva didn't do much either, but his presence was felt more by Inter's defenders than Crespo's. Then JDT came in, and same story same, didn't do much, but then again he didn't have the ball much in the time he was in. So I think we can't judge Crespo (or any of the strikers) by the match against Inter. Now, I know he played other matches too already, unfortunately I didn't have the chance to watch them so I can't comment on his performances. But I do notice that most people is saying that he is getting better by each match he plays, and that once he starts scoring it will be all over for the opposition...I certainly hope so, but I still prefer Sheva + SuperPippo

The only club he struggled at was Chelsea, but who didnt there. It was a new country, new language and he went once the season had started only to find the tinker man as the manager and then he had injuries.

Against inter he was very good, he looked quite dangerous and got invloved in the build up. That flick cross was amazing, it was funny to see the suprise on Sheva's face Crespo really should have scored, but ducked out of the challenge, not surprising since hes just come from injury. Ancelotti said after the game he is hitting top form and he does seem to look pretty confident. This Milan team has lacked two high scoring strikers (At the same time) who can make a good partnership. hopefully, these two can give us that.

As long as I've known about Crespo I've noticed he needs time to find his groove and then once he does he's deadly. I always figure players new to any team need to settle in and learn the system. Here we're dealing with Crespo NOT being chosen on a regular basis--b/c he isn't scoring yet--but not playing regularly is what will hamper him settling in, so we have that vicious cycle going again. I've always considered Crespo one of the deadlier strikers, but one needing tme to adjust.

Btw. how about that Maradona pass he made at the beginning of the derby probably the best detail of the match.

I'll be more than happy if he can score 10 or more goals this season.

Did anyone notice Milan is the only team this season with 3 Capocannoniere winners on their roster?

While we are at it, let's call Bierhoff out of retirement, and Batistuta, wherever he might be..

the easiest way must be signing Signori and Protti.
I remember when Lazio signed Protti. in the next daythe headline was 24+24=48.
then both players failed to score as many as people ever expected.

Poor? He was their second best scorer with a goal every second game he played...

Ok, I admit I was over critical about Crespo.

At Chelsea, he scored 10 league goals, as follows:

2 against relegated Wolves in a game which was already won by the time he scored. (Chelsea won 5-0)
1 match winning goal at Middlesbrough (Final score 2-1 to Chelsea)
1 against Arsenal at Highbury (though Chelsea lost 2-1)
1 in a 5-0 drubbing of Newcastle
1 against Bolton (which Chelsea lost 2-1)
1 against Fulham (Final score 1-0 to Chelsea)
1 against Portsmouth (Final score 2-0 to Chelsea)
2 against Villa (Chelsea lost 3-2, his 2nd being a consolation goal)

Apart from the 2 blowout games, his goals really mattered in "just" 3 games. In a team with a supply line of Lampard, Duff, Joe Cole, Veron and co, I expected more from him, especially someone of his track record. Furthermore EPL is a league where the man-marking is less tight as compared to Serie A.

Having said that, I'll be happy if he can score 10 goals for Milan this season, given the limited playing time he's likely to have. And I won't mind if his goals are scored against the likes of Messina, Reggina, Livorno or Siena.

i still remember when Pippo and Crespo were topscorers in 2002/2003 UCL after first round. Both had 9 goals...I wondered what if they both would be in Milan... now they are but bothing special...
