AC Milan - Shakthar (all comments)

10 days until this match....

We only need one point to assure our qualification to the next CL round. However, if we want to be first place of our group we need to get the same amount of point Barca does in the next two matches. Anyway, hard to predict our lineup with so many days to go for this match. 4 days after this match we play Chievo away in Serie A (while Juve visits X-team, aka Inter).

comments??

already decided to ignore the game at palermo?

i think inter's draw with cagliari was a good sign. i was hoping that they could make it. since this momentum will be so tough to break that juventus will end up at most with one point playing them, and inter will be at home.

I don't know whether is so important to be the first in the group stage. I mean we won't face Juve and Inter next round, some bad teams can survive until there and, in case we need to face some superpower, by February Milan will be really next to their peak (about 95%).
Of course I want the team to end in the first place, but you can be there and face Real Madrid or Arsenal in the ko stage. On the other hand, you can be second and play against Olympiakos or Kiev.

We may face Chelsea in the next round if Milan come in second. We shouldn't worry about who are our next opponents.Milan just have 2 concentrate on finding back their rhythm. The Champions League is a long tournament.Meanwhile, lets hope Ancelotti,Galliani and Berlusconi all decide 2 get a striker in January.

that's right, so many things can happen from here until February. Actually, the only real advantage of being first place (besides being first to Barca ) is that we would get to play first away in the second round...it's worth a shot, although it is not really that important, so from here until Next February Serie A remains our most important target. However, whatever team we field, we can defeat both Celtic and Shakthar, we can do it, so we will do it

I think the best way Milan do is wining both game since we already beat
them and be in first place.why milan seek draw with Shakthar qulify
to 2 round and may face good team while we can beat shakter 1-0
and we will do that next wednesday and in Dec we will go
to scotland and play them and we already win 3-1 we will hopfuly reapt that and be in first place and be scure no matter what the draw will be

Again, I won't want Milan to play for a point. All three points are imperative against Shaktar Donesk. Looking at our recent matches and against Siena last Sunday, I can't say Milan has played the best football lately. And that's worrying and this may affect the mood of the players. This is the time that Milan should start shifting on full gear and remain so at least until the winter break. To be honest, the way Milan's playing lately makes me nervous.

Makes me nervous as well seeing teams like Chelsea, Juve and Barca. Even Real are getting back to their best! I would really like to see Carlo field a combination of 1st-team and 2nd-team players for the remaining 2 champs leagues games. We need to win them both to get our first place booked, it is true, we need the first place to play the home game at home. I really do hope we don't face Chelsea next round, any other team would do. (I will pray to get Arsenal or Man utd!, to shutup all those Premiership supporters)

This is my hopeful lineup for Shakhtar:
Abbiati
Simic--Billy--Coloccini--Kaladze
------ Rui -------
Brocchi -- Seedorf (Serginho)
----- Dhorasoo ----
Crespo -- JDT

Seedorf and the 2 strikers should play to find some form. I hope the strikers,Kaladze and Dhorasoo play against Palermo as well. Then, if by then Kaka hasn't reached his peak yet, he should on for Dhorasoo as a sub.

I really hope we win. Have you guys noticed that we are like the worst team in Europe with Free kicks? We have absolutely crap free-kick takers. Pirlo's freekicks are either into wall or not on goal. If he scores its a 95% deflection. Sheva's free-kicks arent very useful, sometimes they are. Rui's freekicks are good, but he isnt on often. Seedorf i'd say is the best free kick taker (not the powerful shots, but the curve shots as well).. Do u guys remember how often Stam used to score from free-kicks? I hope he comes back soon enough to help us with our free-kicks. We haven't even scored from corners either, have we? Other than Sheva's 2nd goal against Siena, this season, i dont think we have! That's humiliating to have no set-pieces being scored and aiming high! ..

ow damn i'll beg for a carlos tevez swap for either crespo or JDT.. i've seen both of them in top form, and neither is as good as tevez

hmm y not face chelsea and gang earlier? i would wanna finish them off earlier in the stage than seeing them in the finals. To be afraid to face a stronger team is no excuse for a milanista~ e diaviola will slay anyone who comes in his way....

When you play for a giant like Milan you need a winning mentality to survive. Whether we'll face Chelsea or PSG is not so important. In the ko stage, sooner or later we'll face a superpower because I definetely don't believe in a Porto vs. Monaco final again.
Milan met Ajax and Inter in the road to Manchester and Juve there. So this is not a new issue for most of the players.

Very interesting this statistic about free kicks, Hitmannq8. But it's rare to find a player who really know how to take them nowadays. I think by February, when I believe the team will be really near the top performance, the things would change a bit because when you play in your top everything looks really easy and your confidence is high. The player believe he can do everything.

We need to win this match. There is not a big advantage for being first in a CL group phase now days. They draw the ties anyway.(correct me if i am wrong) A couple of years ago, the 1st place of one group played the 2nd place of the corresponding one. I think they just draw them now!
As for the game.....as i said, let's just qualify. We need the best squad out there and that is why I do not agree with your line-up hitmannq8. There is no reason of keeping Sheva on the bench. He should be playing every game. He is not tire. The season just started. He is fresh and firing. He will have some rest in the Coppa this weekend, after that we need him back in the line up.

If everything went as it was supposed to, Shaktar does not even belong in the same playing field as Milan. It should be no contest - like playing a Serie B team. Unfortunately, our guys are not in shape yet (10 full weeks into the season) and do not seem to find the right tempo. As I have mentioned several times, I fault the pre-season training and poor planning with these money-making exhibition games instead of serious athletic conditioning.

Right now clear victories over teams like Shaktar, Palermo and Chievo are important, both for the standings in the table and for the moral of the team. Frankly I do not like to hear talk such as "one point is enough for now", or "we have to save energy for the next match", etc. Enough looking at the result only and making calculations like constipated bookkeepers. We are football fans and would like to see Milan put a display of attacking football with high scores and plenty of excitement. We know the team is capable of doing that, and must have the pride to win every game - big.

After all, we are Milan - one of the best teams on this planet (and may be in the entire galaxy). If Crespo is unable to fit and JDT does not improve, we can play very well with Sheva backed by Kaka and Rui Costa. No one should be obliged to field "out-of-form" players because Mr. Berlusconi wants two strikers at all times. You play with the best you have, and adjust the tactics a little bit.
