Galliani: champions league like wimbeldon

PRESS SURVEY - GALLIANI: 'Champions League like Wimbledon'
1/29/2005
MILAN - Speaking in the Gazzetta dello Sport , Adriano Galliani
suggested a new format for the Champions League. He said: 'In my
opinion, the Champions League format is wrong, there would be a sort
of tennis schedule to adopt after the knock-out round, since every
club have a position in the European rankings. It is not right that a
team among Juve and Real, Milan and Manchester, Porto and Inter is
ruled out. The tennis schedule would avoid certain pairings

What Uncle Festor seems to be saying is that there needs to be more "seeding" of clubs at this level of the competition...however, this to me is not an issue, I see it more as his fear of meeting a big gun early in the knock-out round, like Man U for example, and getting eliminated before the quarters or semis, and as such, missing out on the big payday gauranteed by reaching that stage of the competition.

He (and who wouldnt, really) wants to see us face minnows, crush them, and thus reach the quarters or semis, which:
a) gives us an even better chance of beating a big gun on their off day
b) gives us a ton load of money.

What do u think?

The major clubs will no doubt try and force it through in order to protect their Champions League revenues, it suits UEFA too as it makes it more likely they will get a glamorous final, unlike last year.

How about we just beat Man U.

Also I think Champions League should go back to the way it use to be. Only the champion clubs in Europe can make it. Thats why clubs are in financial troubles.
