Milan hit 19 goals at Pagliuca's net, but were unable to get past him as Bologna inflict the Rossoneri's second consecutive defeat and leave them eight points adrift of leaders Juventus.

The Rossoneri were still reeling from their shock 1-0 defeat to Livorno last Sunday, and the midweek 3-2 Coppa Italia win over Udinese only highlighted their latest defensive worries.

Paolo Maldini returned to central defence in order to replace the suspended Alessandro Nesta, while Bologna's injury crisis continued with Mourad Meghni, Igli Tare, Giacomo Cipriani, Carlo Nervo and Nicola Legrottaglie all sidelined, but new signing Marco Ferrante was on the bench.

Andriy Shevchenko pushed forward from the start and nodded Serginho's cross just wide, then Gianluca Pagliuca got down well to block his piledriver from distance and he wasted a good chance set up by Dhorasoo.

Vikash Dhorasoo thought he had opened the scoring with a spectacular volley from the edge of the box, but the goal was harshly disallowed for a handling offence.

Kaka really should have scored on 20 minutes when he skipped past his marker on Hernan Crespo's cutback, but he hesitated and Andrea Sussi performed a crucial tackle.

Serginho was given the left-back role after impressing in the Coppa Italia midweek, but he touched a good opportunity wide from close range.

Bologna were locked down in defence and concentrated only on the counter-attack, which broke the deadlock after 27 minutes. Tomas Locatelli combined with Zagorakis, including a delightful backheel from the Euro 2004 winner, before driving home with his left foot from the edge of the box with the Rossoblu's first effort.

There was more bad news for Milan, as just before half-time Shevchenko picked up a knock to his ankle from Gamberini and was replaced by Jon Dahl Tomasson. The San Siro supporters were concerned at the sight of the European Player of the Year being carried off the field.

Tomasson's glancing header was not far off the near post from Marcos Cafu's cross, but the push forward left more room at the back and Claudio Bellucci fired a great chance over the bar on the stroke of half-time.

In the second half, Crespo was on the floor surrounded by two defenders, but still managed to swing in a shot that was well saved by Pagliuca, then he nodded Serginho's cross off target.

Milan were laying siege to Bologna's net, but the Rossoblu clammed up around the penalty area. A Pirlo free kick came out to Cafu and his strike took a deflection off Christian Amoroso to push the ball inches past the far post.

Pagliuca flew to punch a Pirlo free kick off Massimo Ambrosini's head from six yards, then Zagorakis needed a goalline clearance to stop Ambrosini equalising from a Manuel Rui Costa centre.

Pagliuca parried a Cafu strike as the entire second half was played in the Bologna area, then Gamberini toe-poked the loose ball clear before Tomasson could pounce.

Sheva got injury....hope it's not serious.....otherwise we will have very hard games in the future(especial some teams which want to defend us hardly like Bologna).Besides,we will have a difficult game against Manchester in Champion League.

anyone any info on shevas injury, also whats going on with seedorf, why wasnt he brought on?

Here on our Bosnian TV said that Sheva will be out for about month, I don't know is this true..

this may be off the topic, but it happens all the time, and I am sick of www.acmilan.com.

i have said it many times, Inter has done much greater job in this part. they offered online update for the match, goals (no matter from which side). they seem to care for their fans. what has milan website done?

when milan was about to play the toyota cup in 2003, they immediately launched the new japanese version and stopped the free access to the whole media section. had to be a member and paying member. and the quality wasn't improved at all. this sucks a lot.

still, not all the highlights are available. where was livorno vs. milan? i seem to recall a pattern, when we played bad or we didn't score, they didn't update the website. including the "breaking news"!! what the heck. in the past, it was like this; right now, it still hasn't changed. i am sick of it.

I know, without him we will be in big problems especially in CL.
I hope that this news are fake.

And for the second week in a row couldn't watch the complete game because of TV station had satellite problems.........

they need to return to their scoring ways . . . it seems Crespo is a bit off, they also need to figure out different ways to beat a team when they start to pack it in on defense as Livorno and now Bolognia have done

This was the thing I was worried about the most. Now we've been hit. We lost at home --- our fort. Our away form is not good.

Here lies the difference lads unfortunately between being over-optimistic and calling a spade a spade.

I am saddened by this result. The getting up is upto us.

Im starting to get worried about the United game now. We havent been able to beat Inter, Roma or Juve this season. Barca were also probably the better team when we played them. Whats worse, we dont even seem able to string the results together against the small teams this season. Lets hope things improve quickly!

We can get the wins against small sides.

That is what we are. Our side should've been cruising to the Scudetto being the defending champions and form side while Juve was in major rebuilding and now they are getting stronger by the game. This form won't win us the CL. My faith in our chances in that tournament has never at any one stage been like it was in 2002-3. However, I am keeping hope that we turn the page and get on with business.

We need the 4-3-2-1 badly. Crespo and Pippo will be horrific IMO.

After last week I was still confident, but today we lost agian despite playing well and that is very bad.

Luck at the moment is not on our side, I think Dhorasso's goal was unfairly disallowed and with it we might have seen a different game. However we lost again many chances to score and they had one shot on goal in which they scored.

Kaka IMO is not last year's Kaka and in front I do not know what happend to Crespo and JDT.

For the league now I think its impossible, juve has to loose/ draw 3 games and we have to win them all, at the moment this possibility is quite impossible.

Let's hope for the champions league and that Sheva will recover quickly

kaka hasnt been anywhere near his form last year. jdt has been fairly bad these dais n crespo wasplayin good b4 the break but in the last 2 weeks he has been horrible. if things go like this, i predict changes to come bout in the summer. us buyin crespo doesnt seem to b that smart anymore, since gilardino is comin
