All numbers between 1-10 multiplied by 9 and then added together according to the rules above gives you the number 9. Subtract 5 and you have 4 and hence the task of choosing a country that starts with a D.

The Countries
There are 4 countries in the world that start with the letter D. These are Denmark, Djibouti, Dominica and the Dominican Republic (not counting countries that call themselves "the Democratic Republic of" as a pre-fix)

Statistically there is hence only a 25% chance of choosing Denmark, but as most people who do this experiment do not live in Africa and the Caribbean, most people are likely to pick Denmark

The animal
If you exclude insects, birds and fish there are to the best of my knowledge only 4 animals that start with the letter K; Koala, Kangaroo, Kangaroo rat and Killer whale

Again an 25% chance to pick Kangaroo statistically, but one may question the generall publics awareness of the Kangaroo rat.

I do understand Denmarks fame, as compared to Djibouti and company, but I don't get why most people would pick Kangaroo before Koalo.
