He is not a true Milanista. We should not forget that he once badmouthed us (accusing us of fixing the game, the very game we lost to Marseilles in 1993) just for attention. Absurd accusation, and he was quite pathetic, may I say.

i agree. he also said that he dreamt of playing for Bayern, coming to the San Siro and defeating AC Milan, after he left. lol. but i remember the goals and the deadliest strike force in the world - bar none - Van Basten - Papin (on paper). he was not pathetic. He scored 7 goals in 13 matches for AC Milan in Europe which is quite good.

Papin actually wasn't as good a player as he was in Marseilles when he played for us. He simply couldn't fit in. Berlusconi was like a Abrahimovic today. He just had to have every top players in our squad. Luckily we weren't Chelsea. We want them, they come.

On paper, maybe MVB and Papin COULD be supreme, but did they even play together for 20 games? I strongly doubt it.

By the way, after he left us for Bayern Munich (in 1994?), he was even crappier.

Come on JPP was the romario and alan shearer combined into one. Great strikes, power ang agression. goals all the way.

Van bastena and Papin could have developed into the greatest of all time. Shame.

That's right. Back then only 3 foreign players could be fielded in a match. Milan already had the Dutch trio, but Berlu bought Dejan+Zvone+Papin. He dreamed of having two different teams of same quality to dominate both Serie A and Champions League. While Dejan+Zvone had their marks in Milan history, Papin never really impressed in his brief stint in Milan
