Berlusconi backs Ancelotti

Berlusconi backs Ancelotti

Milan chief Silvio Berlusconi maintains that he has great faith in Rossoneri boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The tactician is highly regarded in the city after his success as firstly a player and then Coach with the giants.

However, there have been a few signs of tension between himself and Berlusconi despite his triumphs in recent terms.

"There are no problems between us, otherwise he wouldn’t be our Coach," stated Berlusconi. "It is you journalists who create all this mess.

"However, it is clear that a side like Milan should know how to dominate and win a game. We need to learn how to hide the ball."

Milan were considered as invincible a few seasons ago but Juventus and Inter are now well balanced rivals.

"Juve and Inter are not stronger than us," noted the media mogul. "All three will fight until the very end for Lo Scudetto, even if a lot depends on how things will go in the Champions League."

Berlusconi also commented on the fears that Paolo Maldini, 37, is considering retiring from the game.

"He can take a break if he wants," explained Berlusconi. "He represents a miracle which is repeated every season.

"I’m not worried at all about Maldini. He will return to be a key factor for us this season.

"Fans should remain calm too because Milan are still the great Milan that we all know."

Famous last words from el presidente? Why do I see this is a precurser to him being sacked? Or is it just wishfull thinking on my part?

Actually, let me hasten to add that (as my posts have proven) I am not crying "Off with his head" like some demented Queen of Hearts, quite the contrary..I am supportive of our coach, for one more season...a season at the end of which, if no further silverware is stored in our showcase, (and I dont mean the Italian Cup) I myself will be sharpening the headman´s axe...or loading the guns for the firing squad

Whenever management (in my experience) has come out singing the praises of the coach, expressing their unequivacal support for the manager, especially after a bad result, or run of results, it seems the axes are being sharpened behind the scenes.

I doubt that Berlu will lop off Carlo´s head before the season is over, but you never know...el presidente´s meeting with Moggi yesterday I am sure will spawn a whole slate of rumors, not the least of which being a possible Capello return to Milan...though that in and of itself is quite implausable.

capello returning to Milan would be a step backwards! Milan has done well so far without the Capello-esque tactics of "I want these 10 players from all my past clubs so that we can win a scudetto". LOL. F.... that. Capello is not the kinda coach who can make a team work - he brings his own team.

Ancelotti is now under obvious pressure to perform and the Milan management and fans are DEMANDING the scudetto or the CL - preferably the CL this year. I think demanding is even too light a term for it lol. THEY HAVE TO HAVE IT!!!!! If Carlo can't deliver, they will undoubtedly look for a new coach at the end of the year. If Carlo can bring home the CL, he would have guaranteed himself a contract extension and can expect to be MIlan's boss for at least 3 more seasons with one scudetto a year

I totally agree with you on the Capello issue, and as per the above: I would only add: "and one UCL trophy every other year..."
