Fiorentina vc Ac milan (Game comment)

Milan travel to the Stadio Artemio Franchi looking for their ninth consecutive League win, but they will have to stop in-form Fiorentina striker Luca Toni in the process. Milan, two points behind leaders Juventus, will approach the match with no shortage of confidence having defeated the front-runners in Week 10 and mauled Udinese 5-1 in Week 11.

Fiorentina will prove a serious test for Ancelotti’s men. The Viola have won their last four games, beating Ascoli 2-0 in Week 11, and in Toni possess the most prolific striker in Europe. Toni, allegedly a target for Bayern Munich, scored for the Azzurri against Holland last weekend and Milan will have to be at their best to stop the giant marksman adding to his staggering tally of 13 Serie A goals this season.

The hosts have a painful history against Milan. It was at the hands of the Rossoneri that Fiorentina suffered their record home defeat in 1992, losing 7-3. The Viola fared little better last season and will be eager to avenge their 6-0 and 2-1 defeats.

After a fairytale start to the season, the next three weeks will be a true test of Fiorentina’s progress as Cesare Prandelli’s men must face Milan, Roma and Juventus. The Fiorentina Coach will be able to call on a strong side for the challenge. Guilherme Do Prado, Christian Maggio and Alessandro Gamberini are still sidelined, but Marco Donadel returns from suspension to face his former club and there are no new injuries.

Carlo Ancelotti receives a boost with the news that Andriy Shevchenko is available for his first game since the Week 8 clash with Palermo. He will most likely link up with Alberto Gilardino who will be looking to put one over his ex-boss at Parma. Only Cafu is unavailable after international duty. Given the embarrassment of striking riches, Christian Vieri may find himself in the stands once more.

Fiorentina (probable): Frey; Ujfalusi, Di Loreto, Dainelli; Pasqual, Brocchi, Donadel, Fiore, Montolivo, Jorgensen; Toni

Milan (probable): Dida; Stam, Maldini, Nesta; Serginho, Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf, Kakŕ; Gilardino, Shevchenko

In a match as high-profile (2nd n 3rd place) as these, we do not have the luxury for Vieri to keep missing the pots. Hence pairing Shev n Gila is the best option up front. The rest of the line up is quite standard, a 90% sure-win formation . Lets hope there is no "however" cases.

Forza Milan!!

Think Cafu has a knock.....

For this game, I think that if we can maintain our level of intensity and concentration at the levels where they were for Juve and Udinese, then no team on earth is our equal, and another thrashing is in store for Fiorentina.

Confidence for me, therefore is at an all time high, but again, this is definatively subject to the starting line up fielded by Carlito, and obviously, the resulting performance of the individuals, and the team as a whole.

The Viola are a strong team, no doubt about that, and will be anxious for revenge for the previous season´s tennis score in the San Siro. That being said, they can be defeated.

I expect Serghino to start, along with Kaka, Sheva, Gila, Gattuso, Seedorf, Pirlo, Nesta, San Paolo, Stam and of course the Brazilian wall, Dida. I look for attacks up the left flank, with Stam forming a defensive 3 man back line, when il concorde makes his sonic boom creating runs up the wing.

The international break will have served to offer rest for San Paolo, Seedorf, Rui Costa, and others who no longer feature for their national teams, so we can field a team that has important members rested, and roaring and ready to go. I sincerely hope that Rui is given a run in this game, and I think this is something that Carlo may very well do, depending of course on how the match is turning out for us.

We should win this match, and with Juve playing away to Roma, this is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of a possible slip up by the Zebras.

A loss by them, and a victory for us, gives us a morale boosting one point lead in the standings, something that will surely bring some well deserved gloom to Turin.

No predictions, other than a comprehensive victory, and one I hope, will further demonstrate that Milan, is the best football team in the Universe.

FORZA MILAN!!!

As I had said at the beginning of the season... Fiorentina is the team to watch as how they play against Milan, Juve and Inter, it will determine who wins the scudetto. I still dub them the King Maker of the scudetto. Let's hope we arent the casualty in this game. At this moment I will have to respect Fiorentina as a legitimate contender for the title too. I think Inter will have to wait next century again.

I think that Fiorentina are given a bit too much respect and attention by media and fans than they deserve. Don't get me wrong I am far from saying that we shouldn't take them seriously but it seems to me that they install a bit too much respect, not to say fear, among fans and such.
Let's face it they have 3-4 very good players but that's about it. So far they have had only one serious test vs Inter and Inter dominated them all over the field and made that game look like Milan vs Udinese. Well, I guess with players like Brocchi in your starting 11 you could expect to beat Ascoli, Lecce, etc but even an out of form team like Inter would prove just too good for you.
Of course they still have a chance of stealing points from us but mostly due to two reasons, IMO:
1) the support oftheir home crowd will give them wings and they could outdo themselves but above all
2) we have a very, very important CL game in the middle of the week, so Milan players might not be completely focused on this one

Fiore will demand concentration, this is the key on this match... Seedorf sometimes in the past has lacked this but right now he just knows that this is not the team for a dropoff...although very impressive if in-form and fired up, becomes a natural leader that inspires while raising other's stamina... but definetly the King of stamina is Rino and this is the characteristic I like him most... beyond his technical shortfalls he's the one that allows Pirlo a flaring game... giving him some extra space so he makes the right decisions... But Fiore will try to go straight to this one our jugular... Rino is the one to interrup that into happening... how??? first of all we must never play their game... whenever we find ourselves playing against their characterisc rythm, pace, etc... furiously but still compacted and choreographed cut them right there.. do never go into defending everyone desperatly by themselves they'd crack our minds.. instead we need to establish our rythm imposing our own domination early on, and whenever they try to break our defense start with an overlapping defense from way back under Rino's command... Pirlo focused and absorbing power from the defensive fiery of Gattusso while receiving creative support and attacking attitude from Seedorf... if this Mid sticks to plan... Then the magic of GILA-SHEVA will crush any hopes Fiore had... a now flying but very soon a free-dive crashing per una Viola che vola...

...FORZAAAA RINOOOO!!!

I think the one who's gonna be more inspiring for this game than any our other guys... is gonna be SHEVA... I believe he's the most eager to do something special in this match... cuz he's lost most of these recent spectacular displays of performance... where we have had looot of fuuunnn and he wants to keep that going more than anyone else... I hope and truly feel he's going to surprise us tomorrow...

Watch out this is not a game for Vieri ok?!... just a little bit of Pippo in case!... Sheva wants to impress us (if teamwork allows him) and Gila is totally fired up and ready to take Capocannonieri from Toni... Pippo is playing spectacularly, not a hint of egoism, setting up others right when needed but we must better take special care for him...

And our defense!... Didn't we stop the Zibra?... and his combo?... isn't Maldini and Nesta the top of the class?... but... but... but Stam???... don't worry he's got the DEVIL inside... And what about our Milan's private Concord?!... HE is so on fire that I hope he doesn't explote on takeoff... like it happened to the last one ... but if it happens, instead try to dive, crash and explote on Fiore...

As we all just hope that Roma will do us a favour but now seems Milan need to hardly win to stay close with Juve.a lose will open the gap between 1st and 2nd and closen the gap between 2 and 3rd. Just hope a narrow win will do as is a hard task to win 9 match in row...Anyway good luck MIlan...

This,as we all know, is one of the most serious tests of this year's campaign. Fiorentina are a very good side but we are Milan, and I am fully confident that we are going to win.
