One article says that Aldo Spinelli, Livorno's president, has met with the bord of directors to discuss the future of the coach, who hadn't been able to live up to the expectations - Spinelli is shooting at a UEFA cup spot - over the past weeks. I guess Donadoni felt he lacked the support and trust of the club, so he simply resigned from his position of a head coach.
That's pretty much it.

r u sure about this, cuz if its true i don't think that the board of livorno aren't satisfied, cuz for a team like livorno to be 6th or 5th is a great achievement.

Why do i smell the involvement of galliani ?

Yeah, I am pretty sure that that's what that site says. But then again, he wasn't fired but left by himslef most probably because he didn't feel his work was appreciated by the president. I guess after a series of amazing results, Spinelli really got wound up on making it into UEFA Cup and after the recent series of less impressive results, still good enough for a club of Livorno's level, they did the worst thing that could be done in a situation like that - started doubting the coach. And there you go - try finding a new one now.

WOW !! I really have no idea what is going to happen with Donadoni, I do know he is a good coach in the making, but I sure hope that he does not become Milans next coach. I guess that there's still alot left for him to learn before he can manage a side with alot of goals like Milan.

A good option for him would be going to Genoa/Napoli/Torino. Those r the biggest 3 clubs in Italian football that are not in Serie A now. He may also go to Parma.

Donadoni is favourites with Van basten to take over, If holland do well in the world cup, Marco might want to keep going with the national side...

Donadoni remidns me of the young Capello, not because of his game, but because he would be a risky bet if he becomes a future Milan manager. Like Capello and Sacchi, like Van Basten, they have/had no experience in a top club and i feel Marco and Roberto would fulfill their potential.

>Still early to make a balance of this season and Carlo's work thou

Didnt Sacchi bring Parma out of Seria B or something before he came to Milan?

yes, he beated us in Coppa Italia with Parma and Berlusconi called him; Sacchi firstly thought he was calling to ask about players (Parma was already a team with promising youngsters) but Berlusconi offered him a place as coach and took 5 minutes to convince him they would have built the greatest club in the world. Fistly both players, coach and media thought he was crazy, but after 2 years Baresi lifted up the Toyota Cup on the edge of the world.

Well this is veeery interesting, he quit so easely! Maybe there is something really going on. I would prefer Basten but again, Donadoni could do just fine, he did a very good job with small side like Livorno. We'll see in june. or after the WC.

Well we can speculate the potential here. Apparently because Livorno are doing well, the demands of the Chairman Spinelli will go up. It is a great achievement what Livorno has done under the coaching of Roby D. I would guess that the last two games, both draws, came to the attention of Spinelli and then the unfair criticism towards the coaching soon followed, resulting of the resignation of Donadoni.
In my opinion, he is my personal favorite to take over as manager if by the misfortune of Ancelotti leaving. While I would be elated by such thoughts, I'd rather not think or even hope for the results to warrant it... i.e. Milan not winning anything. I prefer we win whatever we can as I still and always believe in the miracles that this beloved team does and has given us over the years.
