Libertadores 2006

Well Libertadores Cup is now on querter finals stage, there are 3 argentinian teams, 2 brazilian, and 1 from Ecuator, Paraguay and Mexico. I leave you here the draw and i will update the results. By the way, second legs of QF matches are going to be played after the World Cup, so we'll have to wait to see who is going to be the champion for a little while.
I also leave you a poll, for you to vote who do you think the champion will be.
My candidate: Velez. It has been the strongest team in Argentina for the last 2 years, they are untill now undefeated in the cup, and got a record of 5 victories on a row in group stage. Most of their players come from from their young squads wich in this years have become the best in Argentina.
Well, i leave you to vote and inform about this tournament.

Sad question. We arent playing it because of our bad campaigne in the 04/05 season . And River got in the last minute, because Racing lost the last 2 matches, and they played the previous round to get in.
But we''ll be back next year, and show who is the boss in America, hahah.
Anyway, instead we entertained ourselves winning everything else this season, but even though i miss the Libertadores nights, i have awsome memories .

The Strongest didnt make it through the group fase, they where in group 3, together with Goias (Brazil)(1st, 11pts, 3w, 2d, 1l), Newell's (Argentina)(8 pts, 2w, 2d, 2l, 0 gd) and Unión Española (Chile) (3rd, 8 pts, 2w, 2d, 2l, -2 gd). They finished in last place with 6 pts, 2w, and 4l.
Anyway, i think they never got through further than round of 16 in Libertadores.
The Strongest (ironicaly) isnt one of the strongest teams in America, and its the second in Bolivia, behind Bolivar.

Sao Paulo will beat Estudiantes at the Morumbi. Their team was sold during the WC and we lost the first game out of bad luck.

We have a strong defence an awesome defencive midfield but lack a playmaker, since Danilo that was playing some World Class football last year isn't in good form. Also we have one of the best goalie in the world, better than Dida in my opinion, losing to Bufon and a few others ( really few).

Argentinian teams have no chance in this Libertadores. It will be Sao Paulo or Chivas...

We beat River twice last year 2x0 in Brazil and 3x2 at Monumental . And our team is quite the same...

Velez is out, there is no more teams from Argentina...

We can still have a brazilian final, like last year.

Semi Finals are:

Libertad (Paraguay) x Internacional (Brazil)

Chivas (Mexico) x São Paulo (Brazil)

My god, it was disgusting how Rogerio Ceni walked like a meter in the penalty he stoped. That was really stealing. Estudiantes boys effort should have had another reward. They where this close of leting you out, if you go far you should know you got there with a cheat.
