Gallas opts for Milan

Chelsea defender William Gallas will wear the Milan jersey next season, according to reports in France.

The renowned L’Equipe newspaper today writes that the international is ready to end his Chelsea stint in favour of a San Siro switch.

Despite being wanted by the likes of Barcelona and Juventus, it seems that Gallas has set his sights on joining the Rossoneri.

The Frenchman was believed to be assessing his future at Stamford Bridge even if his present deal doesn’t expire until June 2008.

Milan are known to be looking to refresh their defensive options and the versatility of Gallas is widely admired.

The fact that he can play both in the centre of defence and also as a full-back has tempted Milan to make a move.

Chelsea, Milan nor the player himself has yet to make any comment regarding this latest round of speculation.

yeah, this one is all over the net ... hope it's true. Well, if it is, that shows the guy does have brains and not just deep pockets that need to be filled up.

I don't think there's any quotes at the moment and i'm wondering how L'Equipe got hold of this news. They're usually quite reliable and held in good esteem by most journo's, which is good for us. Recently Gallas' agent was saying that Gallas should come to us, so maybe the story is through his agent and not the player ??

I agree to an extent that Gallas, Oddo (although i'd prefer Reveillere) and Diarra would be all we would need, but personally i still feel we would need another creative player. With Rui-Costa likely to leave, it leaves us short of creative players, woefully short, especially if Kaka was injured. So for me we would need either a player who can pick a pass or a speedy player who can stretch defences.

Maybe Mancini of Roma would be the answer ?

agree with you on the players. as for a replacement for Rui, those rumours about us being interested in Fiore says it all, I guess ... I would love to see mancini at Milan but if we get Diarra that would cost us 15-20 mil easily and if any other player comes to Milan after that, he would have to be either very cheap or for free, and mancini is neither.

i was really happy to see us being linked with gallas today, but i chose to believe it is a rumour..i really hope milan do something and get him quick, because i remember he said he dreams of playing for milan, and so did Alex..

I haven't seen anything of Fiore this season so i don't know how well he's come back with Fiorentina .... but would he really be good enough ? Again you're right with the money issue, getting Diarra, Gallas and a right-back won't be cheap, but sooner or later the management will have to realise that a good amount of money has to be spent to freshen up our team, it won't be able to compete in the future with freebies and cheapos.

I know we don't play with width too much, but that's why i'd want a player like Mancini, really fast and able to go past people. If there is a cheap alternative then great news, but i don't know who that might be. Maybe Castelan from Feyenoord ? Galletti from Atletico Madrid ? Prieto from Sociedad ??

Maresca is more a defensive midfielder... or balance player, more or a number 8 than a 7, let alone a 10 like Kaka'.

this is a really great rumour and it's just that a rumour so don't get too excited and about Maresca i think it would be nice to see him in Milan we need that kind of players in midfield that are strong and hard working but for a Rui replace we would need someone fast and with great dribbling skills someone like Savicevic for instance, but it's hard to find that kind of player maybe Sneijder could do the job

Im not sure milan is prepared to spend soo much money ( fiore,sneijder,diarra,alex...) BUT, Gallas will be around 5 mil, becouse we need to buy off his last year of contract, Oddo 3mil, Diarra 15-10. We can certanly afford that much.
BUT,again, Gallas wants to play only CB, and can we secure that to him??
