World Cup Scouting
This is a thread to highlight players that Milan can buy based on their performances in the world Cup.
The first player I have 'scouted' is Yaya Toure of Ivory Coast. I thought he had a very good game against Argentina, possibly a very good candidate to be Seedorf/Pirlo's successor. |

Nice skills and strong body. Not a super defender like Gattuso, who is?, but overall a fine player. I'll burn some DVDs to follow his next performances to check whether he is capable or not to keep that level of football he showed yesterday. |

I thought Zakora was the better player, both are worth keeping an eye on.
Seeing Sorin and Riquelme in full flight only made me want them more for our side !

Guys, Yaya Toure is better than Diarra.. everytime he played he impressed me.. him along with Akale (number 2).. They are magnificent midfielders..
I cant believe that teams like Atletico have players like Aguero, Barca - Messi, Dinho, Man Utd - goin for Kerlon, and we are going for Sneijder! I didnt think he was good enough at first, but after the game vs Serbia, im surprised we're even linked to him! We should DEFINITELY go for Yaya Toure instead. |

Don't know about you but I find Yaya Toure a bit too big, cumbersome and slow. he lacks explosiveness IMO and against smaller and faster players he could have lots of problems. And this is very much due to his body structure - he is very tall, 190+ I guess - and that's not something that can be changed. maybe he could addapt it to Serie A and CL play but that's under question as of right now. As for mascherano, I didn't even realized he was playing yesterday, at least not until the late stages of the 2nd half. The ivory Coast midfielders - Toure, Akele, Zakura, etc outplayed the Argentinians IMO. it's only The Ivorians naiveness that cost them the game. maybe with some better coaching this team would have a shot even at the title. well, i followed him throughout the african cup as well, and he really impressed me there.. i totally forgot about him and when i saw them play again yesterday he reminded me of how good he was.. and i agree that ivory coast totally outplayed argentina and IMO deserved the win.. their finishing was so poor..
you're right, im probably exaggerating by saying he's better than diarra.. but he's got enormous potential, even if he is not as good as diarra yet, he is 6 yrs younger and im pretty sure he will be improve alot.. he plays so much like vieira when he was younger.. and mascherano? i dont understand all the hype about him, i concentrated at him everytime he touched the ball and he's not the special, but thats prolly a one-off game, just like how Sneijder was against Serbia. |

Diarra has just turned 25 and Y.Toure has just turned 21. It depends what Milan are looking for Hitman, should we go for a 1st team player like Diarra or someone for the squad like Toure ? For him to reach his best levels we'd have to wait about 4 years, are you prepared to wait that long ?
Plus what was wrong with Sneijder, he played reasonably well. I doubt if Seedorf would have done any better in his position. The only disappointing part of his game today was his free-kicks, they weren't as good as they should be.

I was a big Mascherano fan...but since this guy arrive in Corinthians, his game desapear...
One more time I watched Sneidjer(now in WC)...and I canīt understand the facination about this guy...an above average(maybe good) player every time that I see... Itīs just my opinion, but itīs like the Bonera hype. IMO Shwainsteiger(Sp?? What a name!!) is a much better player!!!! Last edited by Brasileiro; 11-06-2006 at 20:09. |

Sneijder barely got the ball.. the match was basically Robben getting the ball, trying to dribble and losing it

Robben in the other hand had an outstanding game. He is tons and tons better than Sneijder. I also cannot understand the hype about him, not even his video clip was that impressive to tell u the truth, but i'll rather wait another game and then judge him. And yeah, Brasiliero is right, Schweinsteiger is alot better than Sneijder, very similar but he is much better.

You can't compare Sneijder and Schwiensteiger as they play in different positions. Robben is more like Schwiensteiger than Sneijder is. You don't see Germany playing Schwiensteiger in the centre of midfield do you ? No, he plays on the left wing, just like Robben.
Schwiensteiger is more combative than Robben, alot tougher. But is he really tough enough to play in our midfield ? I don't think he is. Further forward maybe, but not the right type of player for Seedorf's position.
