Milan ponder Iaquinta option

from channel4 guys

Milan could turn to Udinese striker Vincenzo Iaquinta as their search for an Andriy Shevchenko replacement continues.

The Serie A kick-off is less than a month away and the Rossoneri have not yet found an alternative for the Ukrainian following his departure to Chelsea in May.

Iaquinta is highly considered by Coach Carlo Ancelotti and could land in Milan for something around £10.7m.

The former Pescara player is being eyed given the problems that the Italian giants are encountering on the transfer market.

The chances of seeing Ronaldinho arrive are thinning out day after day as the Brazilian seems set to extend his contract with Barcelona.

The Via Turati club are also still considering the options represented by Ronaldo and Fernando Torres, but neither of the two seem close to finalising a San Siro switch.

Ronaldo’s return to Italy seems more complicated after Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon said that the player wishes to stay in Spain.

The Fenomeno, who is not Ancelotti’s first choice, is scheduled to meet Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello in the next few days to clarify his position with the Merengues.

While Torres is considered as untransferable by Atletico Madrid and if he were to be sold, the club’s asking price of £28.5m for El Niño is deemed as excessive.

Iaquinta, now a world champion following Germany 2006, would represent an excellent alternative with Milan youngster Marco Borriello set to be included in any possible deal.

The 25-year-old Iaquinta has spent six seasons in Udine where he has netted 44 goals in 145 Serie A matches.

Iaquinta? hhhm.... I don't held high regard of him as a striker, but I do like how Lippi played him against Germany, more of a striker/winger. With the right tactics and chemistry, he could do well in Milan.

Hmm...
Since Ibrahimovic joined Inter, I'm really curious to see how our transfer campaign will end.

Damn it just getting bad to worst, depression is only a few days away, the whole football world is getting world class players and we getting all the rejects, I saw Iaquinta in the WC and he is very average and that’s being kind, Pippo is 100% better then him, the article also says that torres to expensive but If we want world class players then we should part with the cash, its just shows Inter are inspired in the transfer market and that hurts, my patience is wearing thin by the day …….

Another thought is that if we could not find a replacement for sheva then why sell him, the management is turning onto a bunch buttheads, if this is a special gift then I don’t want it.

he's not the type of strikers that we need now ... he's more of the standing strikers, i think it would be better if we got the moving forward type like ronaldo (after regaining form), cassano, or even martins.

Iaquinta is a World Cup winner and a forward with great movement.

I don't think he can adequately fill the hole left by Sheva's departure but he would be a good addition. It all depends on how Ancelotti will use him.

Sorry to say we're acting a bit desperate in trying to come up with players who will actually sign with us. You know me, the eternal optimist, but this is getting ridiculous. I cringed every time Iaquinta came in during the World Cup; I just wasn't exactly overwhlemed by him. We're in for a troubling season....

Debs, i think you better get on the phone to Angelo (that's his name isn't it ?) and say "Milan fans aren't happy with Iaquinta, sort it out". He'll listen to you and then pass on the news to Braida

I don't see the point in spending that much on Iaquinta when Suazo would be available for a similar amount.

This has gotten worse and worse...& they’re even considering him as an option. Better for this money to pay for Milan’s fines and legal fees! Or for another stadium apart from Inter!

I don’t expect Milan to sign anyone till after the 2nd leg. They will take that extra step if they have a clearer picture of what’s ahead. But recently, after other club’s signings, our remaining options have been bread crumbs!

I agree with jim. Personally, I wouldn't mind Iaquinta coming to Milan as he would be a good choice for an alternative striker. He isn't even close to being among my first options but he would still add some speed to the attack, I think. To say it in a nother way, I would prefer Iaquinta to either Boriello or Amoroso.
At this price, however, as Jim said, we could get Suazo and to make a choice between a 10 goal/season man like Iaquinta and a 20 goals/season like Suazo is a no brainer for me.

Even Debs, who really is an optimist, is getting worried... and that says everything, folks! To even ponder about Iaquinta as a replacement for AS is like a bad joke... I guess there's only two options at hand: display ambition and splash the cash on Torres or Tevez / conform to mediocrity and get someone like Iaquinta or (may God forbid that!) Fat Ronnie.
