So whats bad about Oliveira..

What a joke, people were bitching Gila, when really they should have been aiming at our so called Shevchenko replacement!

Milan consider Oliveira loan Friday 10 November, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan’s Ricardo Oliveira may join Sao Paulo on loan in January – thus allowing the striker to return to Brazil as he anxiously awaits for his kidnapped sister to be released.

She was taken from her home by armed men on October 4 and the Selecao ace is understandably finding life tough on and off the field.

Although he scored on his debut for the club against Lazio in Week 1, he’s struggled to adapt to his new surroundings ever since.

The Via Turati club are now considering the idea of loaning Oliveira to Sao Paulo, in order to allow him to be closer to his family.

Milan do not want to sell him outright as they still believe in the potential which convinced them to part with £15m in the summer for the Real Betis striker.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Nelson Dida has still not renewed his contract with the Rossoneri and could now leave for nothing at the end of the season.

Dida has asked Milan to wait until the end of November, but the Tuttosport newspaper claims that the outfit already have an agreement in principle with Livorno’s World Cup winner Marco Amelia.

Alessandro Nesta is also yet to extend his deal with Milan and could return to Lazio when his contract ends in June 2008, according to the latest reports in Italy.

Given the first 2-3 lines of the quote from channel4, and the fact that all this happens in a moment when RO is supposed to integrate himself in Serie A, Milan and Italian culture in general, I honestly don't find this ... let me call it "topic" for discussion very appropriate ... kind of bad timing, don't you think?

if it is true its £15 mill down the plug hole, even if he does regain his form we could have a manager next season who will not find space for him... i do think the timing is bad, basically shoots us in the foot... i would be amazed if we enter the market if he goes, £15 could have gone towards Huntelaar or Torres or even towards buying some new seats for our new stadium.....

it could be part of a bigger picture, Inter mafia obduct his sister.... ok ive been watching too much sopranos...

I don't speak/read garbled translations. But i'm pretty sure this says that he's going nowhere.

Ricardo Oliveira: Galliani ' will not come absolutely ceduto'

16:47 of 10 November

The general executive manager of the Milan, Adrian Galliani has declared the situated official of the rossoneri: "Ricardo Oliveira enjoys the confidence of the society and it will not come absolutely yielded, neither to January neither on loan or with other formulas".

Oli is perhaps distracted by the kidnapping. But he should take inspiration from Kaladze who went through the same thing but still played his heart out for us. I hope he learns some finishing technique from Pippo because he is very wasteful infront of goal.
Still, I won't knock a player who is going through such an ordeal. I am very close to my sister as well and wouldn't be able to function if she was kidnapped

I think I heard somewhere that nesta did extend his contract with us...but I m not sure where, and I m not sure that it s true at all. But its a pity if we are going to lose Dida and Nesta. Actually i think its going to be just horrible for us.

After watching last nights match, i think we should at least loan him out, he looked like the most out of place player on the pitch, he keeps on having predictable strikes on goal, and is extremely selfish.. The only good thing he did was hit the post..

He hit the bar. He actually looked good against Roma, not like many other games where he just drift around. Its november now, by this time last season Crespo had not scored his first goal in Milan yet and he had played in serie A before. I wouldn't discount Oliviera yet, problem of course is that we have little space to let a player "adjust" as we clearly need the goals.

True, he didn't do that badly against Roma, but I think he was far too selfish. Recently him and Gila were forming a decent partnership, and they played for each other. Oliveira in this match for me halted this development by not passing to Gila when he should have.

When we had Crespo we were lucky to have Tomasson, Inzaghi and Sheva knocking the goals in... I agree Kris, if we had better backup we could allow time for him to adjust, but us buying a injured player hasnt done any favours...

I mixed things up as I talked as Crespo was with us last season when it was two seasons ago. anyway, while we did have Good alternatives to Crespo then it should be noted that Inzaghi was injuried and also Sheva was injuried at times. In fact that season we had pretty much the same scoring problems as we have this season, at least before the winter break. Now, we can't just go by hope alone to pick up our scoring and reach another UCL final and improve a lot by spring. Should be noted though that Ancelottis teams generally do much better in spring than in fall.

Well, picking on Gila seems unfair since all strikers underperform currently. But both inzaghi and oliveira (need i mention boriello?) have some relieving factors. For RO
- he only played couple of games with milan
- he only played couple of games in league he isnt used to
- his sister was kidnapped
( - he doesnt speak italian, or does he? )
- he has less playing time than gila
+ he closed the game against lazio and secured 3 points (my subjective opinion)

Let me say again, i have hopes for gila-oliveira because i think those 2 can be our fearsome strinking force, but i wont spare grounded critics just because of that.
