Palermo's Zamparini
Zampa tips Inter for title Saturday 18 November, 2006
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini believes his side have only a five per cent chance of winning the Scudetto ahead of Inter this season. “The probability that Palermo will take the title are five per cent in my view, 75 per cent for Inter and I’ll give the other 20 per cent to Roma,” said the patron on Sky Italia television. The Rosanero are the joint leaders – ahead of the Nerazzurri on goals scored with an identical goal difference – and take on Cagliari later this evening. “I’ll say that if we’re the Winter Champions at the halfway point of the season, I’ll start to talk about the Scudetto as well without hiding away from it,” he added. The door has been opened for the smaller sides to make an impact after Calciopoli demoted Juventus and left Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina with points penalties. “We saw that Milan and Juve had great advantages, the ones the little clubs saw every weekend. At the time they called it a psychological sublimation. Truth is, they were psychological phone calls,” he joked of the wire-tapping scandal. “I know that at this moment in time I’m a President envied by many, but I frankly couldn’t care less. I’m top of the table!” Zamparini is a fiery character who has gone through a lot of tacticians in his time at Venezia and Palermo, including Francesco Guidolin, who was dismissed at the end of the 2004-05 campaign only to be brought back this summer. “I have weekly meetings with Guidolin in which I express my opinion, he hears those of director general Rino Foschi and a few others, but in the end he makes the decisions. I have never picked a line-up or told him who has to play. However, it’s only right that there is a liberal exchange of ideas.” One of the secrets of the Sicilians’ success this season has been ex-Chievo striker Amauri, drafted in on the final day of trading. “The credit for that goes to Guidolin. I wasn’t really convinced by Amauri, because I hadn’t watched Chievo much and didn’t know him. I paid a pretty penny for this player, but he has gone beyond even those expectations.” I am starting to hate Palermo more and more because of their arrogant president. This is the third time I read something like this from him, within the words of "we can see how good Milan really is now, without the refferies help......etc." Who does this guy think he is? He is having a good season and he trully thinks his team is better then Milan? I can't wait to play them again and humiliate them. I was trying to find the other couple of times he mentioned something like that, but I was unable to. I can't stand that guy! I just got really mad when I read that AGAIN from him, so I had to post it here! ![]()

If Milan used the money from Sheva deal to buy extra reinforcements and not use the money on courts, and if Milan's situation was clear and u could have bought extra players in July or early August allready, Zampa and the world wouldn't have been saying "Milan is zero without the refs" The same situation will happen to Juve. Juventus will not be a super power in following seasons because there's no money to buy extra talents, there is no Europe and the best players left the club. Juve will have an average or below average club and everyone will say the same things they say for Milan now (i'm sure even some Milanistas will say that) But we all know the truth is different from what they say. Give me a Milan with Sheva, Stam, Rui Costa, with Caffu, Maldini and the other oldies, but 2 years younger , as they were when they were kicking the hell out of these Empoli's, Palermo's , Atalanta's etc..........and i guarantee that even if the refs wistle against Milan, Milan will still win everything. The same goes for Juve with Zambrotta, Vieira, Zlatan,Cannavaro, Emerson etc. I wanna say that with the teams Milan and Juve had, not a thing in the world would have stopped them from winning everything in Italy. I'm sure Zamparini knows this allready, but he knows people are sheep and they'll find an explaination for their team's failures in his words. Pittyfull ! |

he's having his moment in the spotlight and he won't be the last person to knock our team this season.
Just something you'll have to put up with nefremo

15 minutes of fame...everybody has at least one episode of this...and already they are 3 points behind Inter...they will be lucky to be in the UCL spots come May.
They are however, a good team, and on their day, can be considered better than us.

Yeah, well Zamparini is Morrati's lapdog anyway so he should just be quite and suck on the bone his master threw on his ugly head.

Deschamps will bring 2 or 3 players he wants, and Juve will be back fighting for the scudetto next year already. But Inter not only has good team, but the refs....
Pay attention to their important games, nothing will go against them, nothing. What we need to do is simply buy some really good players and a new coach and march forward.

As long as Italian football is dirty and the refs are in someone's pocket, a great squad and a great coach won't be enough to win anything.
Just remember the 04/05 season when Juve won the title eventhough Milan were sweeping anything before them and were at least a class above Juve ... what did that bring us, second place ... and that's the most we would get until Serie A isn't cleaned up all the way from the bottom up. As for Zampa, he is just a clown who's enjoying his day out of the poop hole, let the guy has his moment of fun.

It seems like every ref decission was scandalous. And Mancini was so cool to say things like "Penalty for Reggina ? I didn't see that moment from where i was standing " and similar things. As much as i dislike what Zlat is saying above, Juve in 2004/05 was a shame for me. I mean, that team was fantastic, but the refs were awful on some matches, and Milan was the best and deserved that scudetto ( but i'm still convinced that there was absolutely no ref influence on Juve's scudetto 2005/06 and i believe Juve was the best Italian team last season ) .My point being : Was the point of Calciopolli only for Moratti and Moggi to exchange their places ? For Moratti and Galliani to exchange their places ? If that's really the point ( and it seems so) , then Moratti made the most stupid mistake for relegating Juve, because if he's thinking of using Moggi's methods, then he and his club should be prepared to have the same destiny as Moggi and Juve had ! As for this muppet from Palermo..... not much to add, you all said it ! |

I think that the moment juve gets back to serie a - and we all know it will happen next season, deserved or not, the situation will be same as last year. Inter will get calls against juve (so juve has excuse), but juve will be helped overall like we were used to. Juve will be a rising star again, though one season more withouth europe, and inter will be the club to make fun of (or maybe milan and inter would switched positions, but lets hope it doesnt happen to this nightmare situation)
As it turned out now, milan is the guilty club who should drop to serie b or atleast stay out of europe if it wasnt for berlus position. And juve is the poor punished club, who took all the beating. Thats why the penalty reduction for all but milan (most for juve ofcourse) and thats why i think like i think. |

Heh, he can talk when Palermo has won the Champions League six times and advanced to at least the quarter final stage four times in the last four seasons.

I must add I want GEA to die off, they have such unhealthy power in Italian football that it makes me sick. Siena anyone? Now Juve is not in control of GEA anymroe though...

Guys, read that and just laugh. This guy is the most arrogant person I have ever seen. What a clown. He calls the referee association a bunch of rotten apples, and then turns to his own coach saying that he knows nothing about football. hahaha "He did not have a clue of what he was doing last night", "I feel I must tell him that it seemed he did not understand anything about football". I just had to share this here, as this guy needs to get smacked in the back of the head.

Its good that this moron comes up with such statements. It will make him look like a fool whose cannot be believed. About his comments on the Ref: I feel the Refs are instinctively favoring Inter because they were """""""allegedly""""""" mistreated by the earlier refs. If Inter is pulling strings to sway the decisions of the refs then moratti is the stupidest person amongst the officials of football clubs.

I think this is exactly what's going on. On the other side, the oposite thing is happening when Milan and Juve are concerned. Noone needs to tell some ref to make calls against Milan or Juve... whenever we have some 50-50 situation the refs will go against our clubs, because they know they'll prove this way how they ain't Moggi's or Galliani's puppets. Example : Gilardino falls in opponents box...50-50 situation. The ref gives a penalty. Milan fans say it probably was a penalty, me and the rest of the world say : Milan is still favoured by the refs Del Piero falls in opponents box ....50-50 situation. The ref gives a penalty. Juve fans say it probably was a penalty, you and the rest of the world say : Juventus is still favoured by the refs. Crespo falls in opponents box.....50-50 situation. The ref gives a penalty. Me and you will say Inter is favoured by the refs, but the world will say : Eh, it was 50-50 call, but after being mistreated by the refs earlier, Inter deserves some ref help after all. The refs know this, and that's why they're doing what they're doing. |
