Cagliari - Milan, 14th Giornata

Seems like noone wants to open this thread, so here it is...
We play with Cagliari away...the last 2 games (I mean Coppa included) we won. Cagliari, however, lost their last game against Empoli. The bad news are that they won the previous one against Palermo, where Pepe scored...quite funny. So if Pepe is their best player (being sarcastic) we just need to mark this guy properly and here we go - we can win the match, if our own strikers or defenders or midfielders will be able to score. Maybe goalkeeper (Kalac) also has a chance to score...I m not sure with this Milan anymore...anything can happen.

The line up according to Gazzetta:
-------------Kalac------------
--Bonera-Simic-Maldini-Janku--
-----Brocchi-Pirlo-Gourcuff----
-------------Kaka------------
-------Gilardino-Boriello--------

We will have an easier time if Suazo is still absent from their team.

You opened this thread only because I scared Jim away by constantly picking on him

As for the team, with Gorky having played two full games in a row, I would expect to see Seedorf play from the start vs Cagliari, provided that he's recovered from that minor injury of his.
Also, don't see how Borrielo would possibly make the 1st team vs Cagliari. IMO it would be wither Pippo-Gila or Pippo-RO.
Also, if Cafu is healthy, I wouldn't be surprised to see him play at RB and Bonera at LB thus giving Janku some rest since he's been playing a lot lately.

I ve opened this thread first, because it was pretty funny to read how you discussed who is quicker in the previous ones .
I m sure this is not a final line-up...during the next few days it ll change, but thats what Gazzetta says at the moment. I also dont think that Boriello can possibly start the game. As for Gourcuff..I dont think he is tired, oppositely..I think he is gaining form and settling in Milan well the more he plays. So I d like to see him, not Seedorf..because Gourcuff is definately faster then Clarence.

Why not Oliveira in the starting line up? Is he absent or injured or something?

I think we will see both Seedorf and Inzaghi in the lineup.

No Oli is fine, according to Gazzetta he is on the bench, same as Inzaghi. I think the real line up will appear on friday or saturday. Before that we just have to guess.

Why the Borriello is in the starting line-up, By all means OLI should be first team as his proven in the last games that his most inform striker we have,
If having Seedorf in the first team means loosing Gorky, then hell NO!!!

Gorky is the reason we played well last two games!
I know his young, and shouldnt be exposed so much, but Kaka was young too,and players like RUI and Rivaldo watched him from the bench, nobody complained. And look what Kaka became now.
And Gourcuff is improving a lot by every game.

I agree that Oli should start the game, he proved his right for that...and Boriello did not.

We all know Milan, so lets meet the Sardinians :

Cagliari are the draw masters ! 7 draws in last 10 matches, and 8 draws so far in the league in 13 matches. They also won twice and lost on 3 occasions.
They are placed on 11th position, with 14 points, 11 goals scored and 12 goals recieved.
At home, they aren't top class , but still solid. On 6 matches they have 2 wins-3 draws-1 defeat.
But it's important to say that they had some good teams visiting them, and they still managed to get good results.
They've beaten Palermo and Sampdoria ( both with 1:0) drew with Inter 1:1, Torino 0:0 and Livorno 2:2 , and their only home defeat came in first round of the season, from Catania 0:1.

From the results we can see they play good defence, but their attack is not as good as it was when Suazo and Esposito were scoring like crazy in season 2005/06.

Similar as it is in Milan, 8 different players scored the 11 goals so far. Suazo is the best scorer with 3 goals, Conti has 2, while the others have 1 goal each.

Bad news for Milan is Chimenti's injury ...but there's still hope he'll make it.
Davide Biondini, who was one of the best last year isn't fit and he'll most probably miss Milan match on Sunday.

The others are fit !

To answer Jim : Suazo missed only Messina-Cagliari match, 3 rounds ago, but came back and played in last 2 matches. He's expected to play against Milan also. Esposito is his partner in attack, and on some matches Cagliari plays with 3 strikers ( Suazo-Pepe-Esposito) . But this time they'll probably start with 2 strikers and dangerous Langella from behind !

Milan and Cagliari played 25 times in Cagliari. Milan won 9 times, Cagliari 4, and 12 matches ended without a winner. Last year Milan easily won 0:2.

Winning is the only way to go, we lost already enough points for a whole season (not counting the -8), but Cagliari is indeed tough, if we manage to score first however I see an easy match, if they score first then we're in big trouble with speed trains like Suazo, Esposito and Langella on the counter-attack. And if no one scores first, then it's 0-0 lol.
