Lucarelli: Inter Milan's Ibrahimovic better than Van Basten..

Livorno hero Cristiano Lucarelli rates Inter Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a better player than Dutch legend Marco van Basten.

Livorno were undone yesterday by Inter thanks to a five-star performance by Ibrahimovic and afterwards, Lucarelli declared: "We've all grown up with this myth of Van Basten and this Ibrahimovic reminds me very much of him.

"I'm talking about his absolute value. Perhaps Van Basten was more clinical in front of goal, but for genius Ibra has no equal. He is more spectacular than Van Basten - the classic big beast with dazzling feet.

"He is a phenomenon. The things he does has me scratching my head, wondering if he hasn't somehow been genetically modified."

Meanwhile, on his own future, Lucarelli said: "I think it's time that I made the jump to a bigger club. I have never felt so good during a season, even if at the moment I'm a little tired after seven games in 18 days."

----------------------------------

Biggest joke of the year, I cant get my head around someone who can compare 1 of the most over rated players in recent times against a legend!

I think Ibrahimovic does have more tricks in his locker and is probably more fancy than Van Basten ever was but that's more because of how the game has developed over the years. However the guy doesn't even come close in terms of goalscoring pedigree, efficiency in front of goal or professionalism. When Ibrahimovic wins as much as Van Basten did (awards/trophies) then he can be considered alongside him, until then he's nowhere near close enough.

Absurd comment from a very experienced player. Angling for a move to warm the bench at Inter?

They are uncomparable. You can compare Crespo with Van Basten, not Zlatan.
Zlatan can be compared to Sheva or Henry, not with a Van Basten type player.

But like to addmit it or not, Zlatan really is a genious with the ball.
He can stay in Inter till the end of his carierre, he can score against Juve everytime he plays against them, but i will still adore his technique and football skils.

I like Crespo but I guess MVB is one step ahead of him. How abt comparing Ronaldo with Van Basten????? In my opinion 2 strikers who came to scene after MVB went on to become better fininshers than MVB
1-Ronaldo
2-Batistuta

As for Zlatan Ibrhimovic , well IMO he is a better striker than the likes of Bergkamp, Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney etc but not MVB

I agree with you ..Ronaldo has won so many awards... his trophy room is twice the size of inter's trophy room ...

LOL this comment is an insult to MVB. Not even Shevchenko, Ronaldo & Henry which are IMO the 3 best strikers of the last 6 seasons are at the level of the great Marco. Currently Ibra is one of the best in Europe but Van Basten is in Europe's top 3 and will remain there forever. Only immortals as Pele, Maradona, Cryujf & Platini can be compared to MVB.

Lucarelli is probably still bitter because Lippi chose Iaquinta over him to go to the World Cup... this is non sense...

Franco is right, perhaps putting Pele' and Maradona aside, the second tier of all time greats is where MVB is... Cruyff, Platini, Zidane, Romario, Ronaldo, Baggio, etc.

I'd say Ronaldo is comparable to MVB. Sheva probably had become comparable, though his massive drop since he left will almost certainly reduce his place in history.

I'd say Ronaldo is better than Van Basten. Ronaldo won the world player of the year three times, the world cup and the golden Ball twice. Ronaldo defied the doctors who said that he wouldn't walk again to win the WC while Van Basten played it safe and retired. To this day Ronaldo cannot fully close in his right leg. To think that he ran the 100m in low eleven seconds this year in his most unfit condition, is nothing short of amazing. Its not like Van Basten couldn't play at all cause he later played other non-competitive matches later on. One thing is for sure...Van Basten is a Milan legend but Ronaldo is a football legend. That's just my fanatical opinion though.

To certain extent I agree, but then you must also see that VB has been very consistent throughout his career, while R9 is far from impressive for the past few years (although it's not his fault).

But one thing VB did better than R9: He won the CL, quite a few times ...

The fact that he left Milan for Chelsea (i.e., $$$) is enough to reduce his place in history, lol...
