UCL SF 2nd leg : Milan-Manchester Utd.

Ok, i'll take the risk of being the bad luck in case Milan gets eliminated, but it's not going to happen because Milan will win on Wednesday and go to the finals !

Let me tell you a secret :
Milan was never, i repeat, NEVER, eliminated at San Siro in Champions league.
And we're not talking about 2-3 matches. I'm talking about 11 2nd leg matches played in Milano and Milan always ended up as an overall winner.
If we add last season's group stage match against Schalke, which was also a decider, it makes 12 matches and 12 celebrations at SS.
Bayern, Manchester, Lyon, Ajax, Celtic, Inter, Benfika, Monaco, PSG ..... they all left SS dissapointed.
Ok, it was never a must win situation for Milan, like it is now, but it takes nothing off this incredibille tradition.

It's a tricky result and it's not a result that often happens in CL.
Till now, since CL birth in 1992, only two first leg matches ended 3:2 in hosts favour.
The first one was back in 2001 when Galatasaray won 3:2 at home against Real Madrid, but they were destroyed in Spain ( 3:0).

The second one happened last year - Werder-Juventus.
The first match ended 3:2 for the hosts and yesterday's match in Manchester was a repetition of that match in Bremen.
Werder took the lead, Juventus scored twice, and then Werder scored 2 late goals, the third one in last minute of the match... exactly the same thing that happened yesterday.
The return leg in Torino was a real shocker. The Germans took the lead, Trezeguet equalised in the second half and the rest is history : Cannavaro screaming Puma, Puma and the Puma scored 2 minutes before the final whistle.

Manchester this season have been at their best when they played at home ... away games just don't seem to be their thing and they often struggle ... especially now when some of their first choice defenders are missing - Evra is out, while Ferdinand and Vidic are almost surely out of the game. park and Saha will probably also miss the game, although Neville may very well make it but doubt he would be in good match fitness.

Milan have to be patient and there is no need to hurry and allow to be caught on the break as 1 away goal by ManU would be acceptable but 2 and more would take things out of control.

The prognosis for Gattuso seems to be good and he is expected to make it for the game at the SS - which is only a week away, not 2 - but I have my doubts about Maldini.
His condition is yet to be evaluated but yesterday Carlo or Galliani said that he went off because his knnee problem had reoccurred and his knee was swallen ... in the past, when that happened he usually needed at least 2 weeks to be match-ready again ...

Bu I guess if we could prepare Kaladze - prefer him over Bonera for his CL experience - we'd be just fine. Also, maybe cafu could play a role in the game - either start or sub Oddo in the second half, so that we have fresh legs vs C. Ronaldo and Giggs.

Hope to have Serginho and Pippo ready for that game

Hopefully we will have more positive tactics against United. With a weakened defence I want to see either Serghinio or Oliveira running at them.

Id personally also like to see Cafu over Oddo. Gourcuff needs to be trusted. Against a team like United he could be very useful.

Yes, maybe Cafu can play the last 30 min or so, when we need to attack more, if that was to be the case... But dont think United will stay behind and defend. They will not. Good thing is that Evra is suspended as he combined well with giggs ( he also "combined" well with United's central defenders jumping in their arms while golden boy Kaka' is scoring it...hehe).

We can win it, 1-0 is enough. But we must be carefull and not push too much. It would be nice to win it like against Lyon, a bit stressfull but sweet....

Every reason to be optimistic (even if i have had the misfortune of reading the british press) we were in a worse position after the 1st leg with barca last year and also in a worse postition after 1st leg against bayern.

At least is in our own hands.

oddo was woeful GG was covering his a$$ and when he went off oddo was exposed

not true. at least 10 times CR went one-on-one with oddo and lost every time.

GG covered everybody's a$$...after he left we conceded both goals through our left side

Man U vs ACM
0 - 0 (MU advance)
1 (or more goals) - 0 (MU advance)
0 - 1 (Milan advance on away goals)
0 - 2 (Milan advance 4-3 on aggregate)
1 - 2 (Agg. 4 - 4 Milan advance on away goals)
If Man Utd score more than 1 goal at the San Siro, Milan lose the away goal advantage - at this point it will simply about winning on aggregate.

I'm only commenting b/c of some of the unacceptable posts being made in the other thread about the first leg.

I couldnt agree more with Debs. If dida is out, will u trust our goal 2 kalac? Some f u might think f buffon n others but lets face it. Dida s th best we hv right now. I'm worried about maldini... It's a proof that he s a much better player than a bunch of young players. I think this next game will be all i can think of 4 th next week.
