FIFA World Player of the year & Ballon D'or
Dear fans,
After thinking for 2 seconds on who should be the FIFA World Player of the Year and get the Ballon D'or award, I came to conclusion that it shall be Kaka'. I believe Kaka' was undoubtly our most important player this season and has stunned the world with his astonishing performances. His tricky manuver on Manchester United 1st leg which left Evra crashing into Heinze was magnificant. Do you fans believe that Kaka' deserves it or do you believe another player (whether playing for Milan or other teams) deserves it more. Justify your choices. I think it's too early to say. But if MIlan wins the CL, then he is the very hot candidate.

The thing is that lately Ballon D` or has been awarded to players that played good in the domestic league, or World Cup when is WC year.
Though I`m 100% that Kaka is far better than CR7, he proved that by the way. I think they might just give CR7 the edge. And I think that Jeff has a point in saying its still early, you need to be consistent all year along. I think the Last player that won the award for his Euro games performances was Owen when Liverpool won UEFA cup. Other than that it was all about winning the domestic league. ex: Cannavaro,Ronaldinho,Sheva,Nedved,Figo.Rivaldo.... On the other hand i`m sure Kaka will win the FIFA`s Worlds best player award. They do appreciate more the CL performances.

10 goals and being Man of the Match 6 times in the Champions League season thus far says a lot even before the Champions League final. Even if Milan lose the final, which I hope would not happen, Kaka should still win it. The 2nd I think who can come close is Cristiano Ronaldo, who left a weaker mark in the Champions League than Kaka.

Well even if he doesn't we all know he is the best in teh world by far at the moment. That said, nice to see Seedorf back to his best last night.

Let me try to put it in probability terms. You are assuming this: p(winning the Golden Ball | Winning CL) = 0.8 p(winning the Golden Ball | Not winning CL) = 0 But what I mean is this: p(winning the Golden Ball | Winning CL) = 0.8 p(winning the Golden Ball | Not winning CL) = 0.5 Don't think in a dualistic way! |

it actually is more like this in my opinion:
P(D'ORO|CL) = 1.0 P(D'ORO|NO CL) = 0.6 |

well I was tempted to say the 1.0 as well, but then you know that voters are likely to be influenced by performances close to the voting. So, I'm leaving some rooms in case Kaka` experiences a dip in performance around that period...

If Milan won't win CL , then it's too early to say, yes. He still has chances but many things will depend on how will he do in Confederations cup, start of serie A and 6 group matches in CL, and how will his rivals do. Statistics don't favour those who didn't win anything. Last 10 years winners and runners up : 2006 - Cannavaro & Buffon ( won WC , had great serie A season) 2005 - Ronaldinho & Lampard ( won La Liga and EPL , while Gerrard who won CL and was fantastic in Europe won only 3rd place) 2004 - Shevchenko & Deco ( won serie A - won CL ) 2003 - Nedved & Henry ( won serie A - DIDN'T WIN ANYTHING but had amazing season, like Kaka's having now ) 2002 - Ronaldo & Roberto Carlos ( won WC - won WC and CL ) 2001 - Owen & Raul ( won many trophies - won La Liga ) 2000 - Figo & Zidane ( won CL- won EC ) 1999 - Rivaldo & Beckham ( won La Liga - won CL ) 1998 - Zidane & Suker ( won WC - won CL and golden boot at WC ) 1997 - Ronaldo & Mijatovic ( won cup winners cup and had unbelievable season - won la Liga but had amazing last 3 months of the year when he scored 7 goals on 2 matches in WCQ play offs ) As you can see, all winners won something and it can be Kaka's handicap if he fails to win CL. But unless Gerrard has an amazing final and amazing 4 months at the start of next season , unless CR and Ronaldinho don't go crazy from September till November and play top class footie , then Kaka still has solid chances. Edit : It's important to know how does the voting goes. There will be 53 voters ( there were 52 till last year but now we have another country in Europe, Montenegro), from every European country. All of them give 5 points to the best player, 4 to second best, 3 to the third, 2 to the fourth best and 1 to 5th best. This is how it went last year : http://www.rsssf.com/miscellaneous/europa-poy06.html

It was all about the world cup last year, i can see this years being out of C. Ronaldo, Kaka, Ronaldinho and Drogba hopefully kaka can do the double as he has been a class above the others this year
We know someone who wont win it this year and retain Cannavaro hes defended like Titus Bramble at Madrid this season ![]()

Kaka has the benefit of the Brazilian bonus too, that counts for a lot in the world player of the year especially...
If Utd win the domestic double then i think Ronaldo is a realistic contender for the Ballon D'or, memories are funny things and the 7 - 1 win against Roma will be something a lot of the judges remember even though it was a quarter final match.

It´s absolutly insane if Kaká don´t win a price this year
He is the best player of the world sice a lot of years but not enough to win the marketing of Ronaldinho This season there is no marketing that can save a flop, Kaká is quite the best player of the world |
