CL Player Ratings: AC Milan

it's the rating for how milan player did in the match it was on sport site ...

" Dida: 7 - Did well to stop and hold Gerrard's first half shot, but was fortunate that nobody was at hand to covert his save from a Pennant shot in the first half. Overall solid.

Massimo Oddo: 7 - Solid defensive performance and got forward regularly.

Marek Jankulovski: 5 - Struggled with Pennant in the first half and was lucky that it didn't prove costly. Did well after being booked after the break, but nonetheless a weak link.

Alessandro Nesta: 8 - Defensive masterclass from the experience centre-back, who fought on after picking up a knock.

Paolo Maldini: 7 - One of the best players in the history of the game can now go out on a high. He wasn't faultless by any means, but still important.

Andrea Pirlo: 6 - Quiet over the 90 minutes, but took the free kick that led to Inzaghi's vital opening goal.

Gennaro Gattuso: 6 - Identified as one of the key players before the match, but was surprisingly off colour. Seemed to be frustrated and was rash when on a booking, while struggled with passing.

Massimo Ambrosini: 6 - Another midfielder that made little impact on the game despite plenty of running.

Clarence Seedorf: 7 - Performed his role of breaking up Liverpool's attacking play well, but had no creative influence and was sloppy with the ball.

Kaka: 7 - Occasionally impressive on the ball, although Liverpool did well keeping him underwraps until he set up Inzaghi with the clinching second goal.

Filippo Inzaghi: 7 - Typical Inzaghi performance in that he did nothing all much, but still scored two goals. It is the job of the striker to score, so there can be no complaints.

SUBS

Kakha Kaladze: 6

Alberto Gilardino: Not on long enough to be rated

Giuseppe Favalli: Not on long enough to be rated "

it seems like Nest gets the high marks... well he really did a huge job in Defensive ...... but i didn't like what the said about Pipo come on " he did nothing all the match, but still scored two goals" it was more than enough for us that 2 goals made us the Champions

Those seem like fair ratings.

Must be great for Oddo to leave a team like Lazio in January and win the CL - What a dream.

I don't find these ratings fair...
Andrea Pirlo: 6 ??? I would give him atleast 7. It wasn't his best game, but he was very solid, the only solid mildfielder we had in the first half.

Clarence Seedorf: 7 ??? Not more than 6, he was quietest player we had, closed for good from the L'pool MFs.

I think that 7 is pretty much for Oddo, 6.5 seems more fair...

If you saw the ratings the Liverpool players got you wouldn't complain

On Thursday (24.05.2007) I bought La Gazzeta dello Sport in Athens and I can tell you that the ratings of the Milan players were too high (Pippo had 8, I think only Seedorf and Jankulovski had less than 7...) and the ratings of the Liverpool players were too low (Gerrard had 6.5, the highest rate...)

Gerrard walked through Nesta for his chance in the 2nd half, i would give him 7 at best. Oddo and Pippo were the best2 players because they both did exactly whatthey were in the team to do.

Agree completely. Pippo was not in the team to take part in intricate passing movements or track back to stop Liverpool, his job was simply to chase every forward pass and to take whatever chances came his way. As far as i can see he did both jobs as well as they could be done.

Walked through...LOL. The ball accidentally came off Gerrard's leg after Nesta stopped him the first time. Walked through is WAY more than an overstatement.

... and let's not forget how that "chance" came in the first place - Gattuso sending a bad pass back towards Nesta but it actually came staright into gerrard's legs with nesta already committed to get his foot on a ball that shouldn't have been passed to him at all.
Even then, Gerrard was kept wide to the side and that, and the tight angle, made it very dif for him to get a decent touch on the ball with his weaker left foot.

Gerrard was, or tried to be, the leader of his team but with one or two exceptions was kept under pretty much full control by Milan ... unfortunately for Liverpool, they lack other players who could take the leadership in their hands once their captain is subdued.

The first chance Liverpool had also came form Milan's mistake, as well as Gerrards. Except for maniacal running for 75 minutes, Liverpool didnt control the game as some people say. And about Pippo, is there REALLY any more need to explain how and why this man is one of the most dangerous forwards in the world.

well forgive me for expecting a world class centre back to win a 50/50 tackle!

Nesta was put into trouble by Gattuso but he certainly made things far worse by planting his feet and getting square on to Gerrard, he made it easy for him which is why when they went for the ball it went with Gerrard with Nesta left standing in the background.

Sometimes its difficult to be objective when its a Milan player sorun the exact same sequence except replace Nesta with Materazzi, would you still think its good defending?
