Thankyou Milan/Fossa Dei Leoni/all rossineri

i am a liverpool fan who was at the game and was, needless to say, devastated that we lost.

However, the magnificent milan fans (before, during and after the game) made me proud to be a football fan of another proud club.

i was a little disappointed when the milan team didn't parade the trophy at our end but i understand why. (when seedorf ran across the pitch on his own with the cup he didn't realise he was getting a stading ovation from our end).

maldini/pirlo/seedorf and a few others did applaud our fans and more importantly it gave liverpool fans the opportunity to applaud the 7th win (and for me to applaud maldini, who is a God that walks among men).

real liverpool fans feel the way i do because everyone around me applauded wholeheartedly when milan collected the cup and were eager to acknowledge the victory.

moreover, real Liverpool fans have a historic bond with milan thanks to the amazing and emotional rendition of YNWA sung by Milan fans after the hillsborough tragedy in 1989, organised by the Fossa Dei Leoni. For this we will always be eternally grateful. But for the special teams and wonderful fans, we will always have respect.

FORZA MILAN!!! ynwa

Hello, grego. Thanks, mate.

And by the way, the Fossa Dei Leoni ultras group has been disbanded, and right now there is a new ultra group called "Guerrieri Ultras".

I've always considered Liverpool a great club and for some reasons the relationships have always been superb.
After Istanbul many have felt very badly. Loosing that way was a nightmare. I almost thought to stop watching football.
But i couldn't. I'm just as addicted as you all are to this game and to our club.
The WC victory in some ways healed that wound.

That's why you may find no good posts on Liverpool on the boards: it's people who wants to give it back for that nightmare final. Me too.

But a few days after the Final, with cool heads, i can say i felt a bit sorry for the Liverpool players committment into the Final. Wins are like that: always controversial, because you feel you're touching the sky but respect and pity the other side as well.

A personal remark must be for Kuyt: i heard the story of his father and was nearly commoved by that. But you know: your joy would have meant our tears once again, and i think that a second time it wasn't fair for us.

thanks for the comments.

someone said in another thread "humble in victory, gracious in defeat".

for me this is the epitome of why i like Milan as opposed to other clubs (all over the world).

of course, there are the initial glorious moments and some idiots who like to go over the top but overall the best thing to do is, to use a cliche, "let the football do the talking".

forza milan!
