Why is Seedorf not respected?

Out of all are starters, he's the least respected. We always praise Gattuso as the heart of Milan, Pirlo as the orchestrator, Kaka obviously is the best, Oddo owns the right wing and Maldini&Nesta are the great Milan wall. What about Seedorf? How do we appreciate him? I'll tell you, by always talking about an immediate replacement, not mentioning his accomplishments and the simple fact we don't realize and appreciate we wouldn't have won the CL without him. Yes, we wouldn't have had a chance. He scored 7 goals this season with 3 coming in the CL. Throughout the year he's given many assists and has been the protagonist. Other than Kaka, he has been the most valuable than anybody else. Just to prove, I'll use the last month as an example. In Serie A Week 34, his 1 goal against Torino won the game 1-0. Serie A Week 36 his goal helped us get a point against Catania which was very important to secure a top 4 finish. In the CL, he scored in the most important match against Man U in the second leg. Not only that, he assisted the Kaka goal. Without those first two goals, would Milan reach the Final and win? not a chance. This man single handedly gave us a 4th place position and the Champions League. He's the 2nd most important Milan player and it's unfortunate he doens't get the respect a champion like him deserves.

Probably because he have numerous off games where he is nothing more than a by-passer. He started playing well only in the later part of the season when he was constantly being rested by ancelotti.

He is not as consistent as the others since the first day he is here. I still like him but i can understand those that didn't.

You're right that he's not consistent in his efforts but is it enough for him to be dismissed as 'one of the main guys' at Milanello? Gattuso is amazing, but is he really better than Seedorf? That's the kind of thing that annoys me. At the same time, you're probably right that most are turned off by his inconsistency.

Well for me Clarence Seedorf is an AC Milan legend. He is one of the all time greats. I am not afraid of comparing him with the likes of Zidane, Paltini, Nedved etc
Now as for his inconsistency, I simply don't think that he is inconsistent at all. The problem is that most of the fans expect Kaka's pace & number of goals from him which is not possible bcoz (if I m not mistaken) Seedorf wasn't' known for his pace & number of goals even at 21-22.
He is alteast more consistent than D!da Everybody has had his off day for AC Milan. Kaka had many off days this season, so what???? U can't expect Seedorf to perform 100% in all 38 league matches and score 15 goals a season. What he as done in the past 4-5 years is amazing.
Now if some one comes and say that he/she wants to see the likes of Ronaldinho or Eto's etc playing with Kaka' upfront, for me that is pathetic. Seedorf deserves more respect & its as simple as that

Inconsistency.

Sometimes he can be the number 10 the crowds had ever seen, others... he disappeared. Seriously, all he needs to do is run more than 3000 metres, difficult much? *sigh*

I think others have hit the nail on the head about Seedorf. He's got my respect, especially after the performances in the later stages of the season, but he's probably one of our most inconsistent players and has been for years now.

When he plays well, he's as good as anyone in the side, and really we end up seeing something special, but when he's poor, he becomes more of a liability than an asset, which is infuriating.

He's definately as respected as most players in the squad, and is a massive player at the club off the pitch, as he's taken the role as a senior player and does help the younger guys (Gourcuff this season is a prime example). However, he's not someone I think we should or can rely on a regular basis.

I personally don't think he's the least respected among the starters. But Seedorf is not getting younger and the fact that the midfield area hasn't been changed in the last 4 years -which means it's getting more and more familiar to the opponents as well- forces Ancelotti cs to look for some qualified back ups.

Seedorf is the man for the big occasions, that's why he gets better and better during the season. The biggest matches are often at the end of the season. Sometimes he's a bit too lazy against smaller teams, but then he strikes back like this season against Bayern Münich and Manchester United...

Forza Seedorf!

He hasn't helped his cause by getting into public rows with Ancelotti either (case in point, the water bottle incident, whether it was accidental or not). I thought that was rather unprofessional.

Personally, I don't know if it's a case of not being respected. Yes, he can be inconsistent, but there's no denying that we possibly may not have made it to the CL final had he not peaked at the right time; all praise for our CL success does not begin and end with Kaka.

Seedorf is a very DUTCH player...he sometimes has his own game and vision going on in his head, and you can picture what he wants to do but i think when the game is going so fast other players do not.
however, dutch also have a tendency to check out or have mental issues (see ruud gullit at wc for example) and also like to self-destruct (like cruijff blowing a load about not being able to play in puma boots of something like that back in 78, also smoothing over to barca for big-cash and ending the ajax of 70's run).
For me, seedorf at his best is when i know milan are going to kick ass-he's on, his movement is good, the visions are clicking with teammates, and the whole machine runs smooth. his shot is a bazooka.
sure, he's going to have his off-days. and he's getting older so they'll come more often. but he produced some of his best play this year, and i think he's going to be recharged and ready to orange crush!

There is 2 ways to be one more a very respected player of a club: Be a amazing skilled player in as Kaká and Maldini or be a fighter as Inzaghi and Gattuso

For sure it don´t mean that Seedorf isn´t important to Milan, he is a amazing player, one of the best midfields of the world
