Which team will win Eurobasket?
The Eurobasket starts at the 3rd of September. There are still many friendly games to be played and the most of the coaches haven't decided yet for their final 12 players that will included in their squad. A lot of you as Tony told me, you like basketball and i invite especially the ex- union Yougoslavians (there are a lot here) especially to state their opinion.
So the holders are we (Greeks), which team will make it? Try to be as subjective as you can.

I'm glad you explained what Eurobaskets was Giorgos. I had no idea.
Don't suppose there is an England team or a GB team in this tournament?

I will be supporting mother Russia
![]() Its quite shocking really that England couldnt produce even a half decent team, Crouch has been warming the bench a lot recently for Liverpool so surely we couldve sent him ![]() I have read we have some decent young players though, Luol Deng plays in the NBA and he will be persuading a few others over there to discover any links to England no matter how tenuous....

Yes, he is a great player, i also am Chicago Bulls .For Greece now, we won 78-71 Lithuania. We miss Sxotsianitis who was our heavy player in the Mundobasketball, our ribaounds and our away shot need improovent and we will wait for Spanoulis and Zisis to get in their shape. I think we will play better against zone press. However the thing i am afraid of is the bad moments of the Greek team more than every opponent. In our good shape we are the best national team in the world now. Nommatter we will be one of the contesters for the European trophy.

I don't know if some teams are missing their star players (apart from Serbia and Croatia) so i can't really predict what's gonna happen. But if everyone has the best squad then these teams are the favorites :
1. Greece : Star players and yet team play. That's why they are my favorites. After losing the WC final they have something to prove now. The best euro defender Diamantidis (my favorite euro player currently), the best Euroleague player Papaloukas, NBA's Spanoulis and very good players like Chatzivrettas, Zizis, Schortsanitis, Papadopoulos should be enough at least for a medal 2. Spain The world champions and hosts. Pau Gasol is the main star of course. Navaro, Garbajosa etc ..... scary team. Very big favorites 3. Lithuania : Lets not underestimate them. If i'm not wrong they will have full team this time. Jasikevicius, Macijauskas, Songaila, Siskauskas, Lavrinovic. Who'll dare say, and be 100% certain that they won't win the gold ? 4. France : Is Tony Parker playing ? Pietrus, Gelabale, Diaw . Looks like top4 finish to me 5. Germany What can i possibly say about them when there is not another team in the world, actually in worlds history, that depends so much on one player - Dirk Nowitzki . He single-handedly got them the silver the last time at the EC. Slovenia is my dark-horse and i'm sad that former superpowers like Serbia and Croatia don't have big chances to win. Russia with Kirilenko is always dangerous while i expect Italians to fail. Can someone name the star players who will miss this EC ?

Who else ? me. Although i am in a hurry i will do it for my friend Tony, to become Milan .Greece: Schortsanitis is out of selection because of his lot kilos.... but the others are presend. About your statement, yes we are motivated to revenge Spain for loosing the cuo in the WC. Spain: Garbajosa is in the selection of Spain but since now is injured so Jordi Trias of Barcelona will be the only change comparing to the WC team. Garbajosa will be a huge miss because he can score both near the basket and from away though Gasol, Navarro, Navaro, Calderon, Reyes, Ferndez, Rodriguez will be there. Lithuania: Macijauskas is out of Selection but the big "Saras" Jasikevicious is presend and Lithuania with him is one step up. France: Gelabale is out, Diaw recovered from his injury a few days ago. Parker married Longoria and he is ok now after his small injury. Germany is always tough, I don't give a chanse to Russia for the gold medal because is a very unstable team, Slovenia has absences but still has great presentations and has improoved as a team, they pass each other better and they are much improoved in defense by their caoch Alex Pipan. I don't agree about Italy, they are fighters, they never give up a game, they have team spirit, they play good defense, some "veterans' came back while the young stars are now presend, the have both stars and "workers:. The NBAer Barniani who had an excellent season with Toronto Raptors is here, the crazy Basille, Galanda, Bellinelli, Mancinelli create a very good team.

Bosnia, Macedonia and Israel are going into next qualification round for the last place in group phase of championship...
We had good chance to go directly to group pahse but we lost against Portugal at home, we were better for about 20pts in the second game with them, but lost against macedonia, and becaus of that we are playing this play off. We where playing on every Euro basket since we started to play there (1993 I think)... @ Tony - Damir Mrsic and Henry Domercant won't play on this championship....(they are stars for me )

So Israel qualified as i expected and will be a tough game against our team. Although we missed one of our best players who is Antonis Fotsis, i will finally point at our team.
