Milan-Catania 30/09/2007
Looks like you'll need the enemy to start a topic so you finally start winning.
If you don't beat Catania i don't know who'll you beat. After watching the first 5 rounds of the season it's clear that Catania, together with Reggina and Livorno, are the weakest teams in serie A and these three together with Genoa will fight against relegation. Catania is a team whose most influental player is a timber called Davide Baiocco. Their coach is suspended and they have Giuseppe Colucci, Ezequiel Llama and Andrea Sottil out through injury and Tedesco got a red card vs Empoli and he's suspended. So far they used the three man attack but it didn't do much good for them because they scored only on 2 matches this season. Their main power from last year, attackers Spinesi and Mascara are completely out of form. Last year you've beaten them at SS 3:0 (Kaka with a brace and Gilardino) and drew 1:1 (Seedorf) in the last rounds of the season when you didn't need points. They'll be the ones paying for the bad results. 3:0 or 4:0 for Milan, imo

I'll bet double for Milan and put $300 for Milan.
This is the right time for Milan to strike back or otherwise be placed near the bottom till Pato could play in January.

According to Goal.com, Dida will also miss this match in order to rest up for next Wednesday's match v. Celtic. We'll have to shoulder the burden of Kalac for one more game, pun intended.

I found an interesting info.
In the first half of the previous 5 matches Milan scored 6 goals and conceded only 1 goal. If the matches lasted only 45 minutes you'd have had 4wins-0draws-1 defeat (GD 6:1) 12 pts - 1st place in serie A In the second half of the 5 matches you scored 1 goal and conceded 4 goals. If we count only the last 45 minutes you'd have had 1win-1draw-3defeats (GD 1:4) 4pts - 15th place in serie A Clearly the problem is in the second half which normally suggests either lack of concentration or fatigue , or a mixture of both.

Just to add that it's really strange how a much weaker team than Milan, Juventus, is doing totally the oposite.
Juve has 1-3-1 in the 1st half (GD 2:2) and 4-0-1 (GD 12:4) in the second half

Which, of course, doesn't mean that Juve is just lucky. Instead, Juve is still pretty strong. Milan, on the other hand, are composed of 'old' players although I'm not sure what constitute 'old' when they are all supposed to be fit physically to play. It's a matter of squad depth, I agree, although I'm not sure if there are many who can fit the MIlan system, or tactics, well. |

I have a feeling this one will be low scoring because some key players will obviously be rested and partly second string team will be playing. Definitely not a 3-0 or 4-0 win. Maybe 2-0...but more likely 1-0.

I don't think Carlo will start a second string team.......in normal circumstances yes, he would but after the pressure from the media that we are underestimating the Serie A and add to that 3 draws and 1 defeat I think Carlo will start the strongest 11 with perhaps 1 or 2 exceptions. With that in mind we will probably see 3 changes early on for him to rest a few players, and hopefully we will finally have a game sealed after the first 45 minutes.

I can't wait for this match, so much so that I'm shaking in anticipation. Recently times are tough but that's what makes it all the more exciting. This team NEVER fails when we're truly with our backs against the wall, which isn't quite the case yet, but we're getting closer.
When the weak are knocked over they cannot get back up, the strong on the other hand stand up taller than before. FORZA MILAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Well at least there are some fans that find it exciting to watch Milan struggle.
Points against Siena and Parma should have never been dropped, so I wouldn't be surprised if more points are dropped against Catania. Our players are only human, it is normal for them to get tired after playing a game every 3 days. It's been a while since we last won a game, seems like the boys forgot how to kill off a game. Carlo needs to be more aggressive in training and so does Berlusconi. Our anger needs to be shown towards the players, they have to start running their socks off. In all the past games we dropped points we always had the lead (bar Siena), but somehow our concentration fades away for a few minutes and we lose everything (a la Deportivo, Liverpool most notably). I wonder why does this side have such bad concentration, it seems like they will never get over this problem of complacency. They think the game is over and start putting in minimal effort. Grrr if only we had more players, we would see players challenging others for spots, we would have less tiredness, more options, ahh who cares it ain't gonna happen so why bother wish for it. |

I think Catania will park a bus in front of their posts, trying to frustrate our players. I hope we don't play with 2 DMs in the starting eleven. The sooner we kill off the game, the better.
