Episode #1: Lazio vs. Milan (10-07-2007): A chance to redeem

I know most of us are frustrated with Milan, but let's get going and begin to think about our next game against Lazio at Olimpico.

Although I dont' like this line-up: I expect to see this:

Dida(Kalac)
Jankulovski --- Nesta --- Bonera --- Oddo
Pirlo
Gattuso Ambrosini
Kaka` Seedorf (Gourcuff)
Gilardino

Please refrain from usual bashing on Dida and Gilardino. It's not January yet, so whoever wants to talk about Ronaldo or Pato you have other threads . Kkeep it to some constructive comments . Thank you - J

I'm actually looking forward for this one. Lazio played a good game against Real and Pandev impressed me. We got the manpower to take them out but we gotta start scoring as first and try to find the second right after. I hope Gila gets to start in this one as he looked good vs Celtic.

Forza Milan!!

...well, I hope Gila plays, he played well Vs Palermo and today i saw him take on a defender and beat him instead of just passing the ball, besides Pippo needs to rest...hope Kaka is all right, he definitely slowed towards the end of the game and I think it was cause of his knee, he grabbed the same knee twice while on the floor today after Celtic tackles...Seedorf should start and hopefully regain his form, last 2 matches he's been very poor but he was really good in all the other matches...Bonera should feel more comfortable playing in Italy, maybe put Emerson instead of Gatusso or Ambro, whoever is more tired although Ambro seems to be in better form right now...and Gorky, is all up to him NOT ancelotti, just like any other player or coach, is results and performance what matter not potential, same goes for Gila...I don't mind if we draw Vs Lazio as long as we play well i guess...don't mind if we win and play like crap though, hehe

Pandev is slowly but surely becoming world class.
I've been following the boy since his teenage days in Macedonian league, i watch him regularly playing for his NT, i watched him in Ancona and now i hardly ever miss his matches with Lazio. He is 24 now and he is already the best player in Lazio and the one who does everything when it's the toughest. Rocchi scores more than him, but it's Pandev who also scores a lot and who creates 70% of Rocchi's goals. He reminds me, and he reminds me a lot, of Predrag Mijatovic, whom i also followed since his teenage years till the end of his career.

Back to the match..... both teams with medweek matches. In any normal circumstances this should have been a handicap for Lazio because no-one in their team is used to playing tough matches Sunday/Wednesday, while Milan players know everything about it.
But with the current form and current team atmosphere i wouldn't dare calling Milan the favorites in this match.
The good result with Real and especially the good performance (Lazio were by far the better team yesterday evening) may give them wings to beat the fatigue and play another great match in front of +70 000 people.

From a betting point of view , this match is 33.3-33.3-33.3 for homewin/draw/awaywin. The most unpredictable match of the round.

Yoann admitted that the first Celtic goal was his fault. I think he learned a great lesson about European nights yesterday, so Carlo please take chance and play the boy. I'm positive about Gila also. He's coming around, very, very slowly.

As Tony said, the results for this are throughly unpredictable. We're not favourites, but if under fire Milan gives way to a**-kicking Milan, then am all for it.

i'm looking towards the Lazio game. i thnk Carlo should play the Puma in front of the back four and push Pirlo up more in the game. Gorky should play... as he is desperate to make up for the Celtic game. I think we should play without Pippo and Gila...some amountof goal scoring responsibility should be given to the midfield...sounds unorthodox...yea...but it will give the Lazio defenders a lot more players to worry about than just 2 hopefull strikers

Milan have always been able to get a result in the Olympico and correct me if i am wrong, our season's turning point for the past few seasons have always come after getting a result against Lazio. Hence i am confident that Milan will bounce back and show that they are still capable of winning. Keep the faith guys!!

Forza Milan!!

Last 10 matches against Lazio in Olimpico, in serie A :

2006/07 Lazio-Milan 0:0
2005/06 Lazio-Milan 0:0
2004/05 Lazio-Milan 1:2 (Shevchenko 2)
2003/04 Lazio-Milan 0:1 (Ambrosini)
2002/03 Lazio-Milan 1:1 (Maldini)
2001/02 Lazio-Milan 1:1 (Shevchenko)
2000/01 Lazio-Milan 1:1 (Shevchenko)
1999/00 Lazio-Milan 4:4 (Shevchenko 3 , Mihajlovic o.g)
1998/99 Lazio-Milan 0:0
1997/98 Lazio-Milan 2:1 (Kluivert)

The only defeat in last 10 years in Rome vs Lazio (serie A) was 10 years ago.
Since then, Milan won 2 and drew on 7 matches. Draw is the most common result when Milan and Lazio play in Olimpico.
The goal difference in last 10 seasons in Olimpico is: Milan 11 goals - Lazio 10 goals.
Shevchenko scored 7 of these 11 goals.

this is a must win, a draw is really not good enough.

Considering the situation Milan is in now, to be able to get a draw in Olimpico is a satisfied result. However of course, a win will satisfy all our thirst for victory in this pretty slow start to the season.

Lets hope he doesn't turn into as much of an a-hole as Mijatovic after he retires.

Anyone know any updates on the injury front?
