Shevchenko
Hello everyone.
Everybody in England keeps saying how Shevchenko has lost all his pace since he joined Chelsea so my question is, was he really fast in his Milan days? And did he use his pace? Thanks! |

Sheva at Chelsea now was a bit like Henry at Juventus, all he needs is motivation and the correct coach to get back on track.
When on form he was one of the best strikers in the world and no one could come close - to me there were always 3 that were a cut above the rest. Sheva, Henry and Eto each playing in their own respective leagues. Now, however Sheva looks lost and playing at Chelsea has proven to be a big mistake. |

The Dynamo Kiev striking duo - Rebrov & Shevchenko.
Shevchenko went to Milan and basically made him a world class striker, a household name and was destined to be in Milan's history books... Rebrov went to England and it basically destroyed his career, and has never recovered since... Now the other half of that partnership moves to London, maybe confident to succeed where his partner failed... And guess what, it's destroying him too... Shevchenko's final days at Milan, I could already see him slowing down, i told myself it couldn't be... But i guess the pace in England really magnified his problem... I do hope for his sake, that his career is not over like Rebrov... |

to answer the original question, yes Sheva used to be very quick (a little like Henry). Over the years at Milan he developed his muscular build and thus lost a little pace, though was always still pretty fast.

Considering that Sheva left because the missus wanted to go to London and he's buddy-buddy with Roman, it's no surprise he hasn't adapted and is riding the bench, plus they already have a class scorer in Drogba. His biggest scoring outputs so far have been saved for lesser competitions (Carling Cup, etc.), plus England is a horse of a different color compared to Italy. I think he's been on the decline since the Barca CL series in 2006. It's now a matter of reaping what he sowed.

Yep, Sheva is a type of fast paced player when he was in Milan, I remember in our game against Deportive when he tried to get away from 3 Depor defenders using his pace, he also a complete striker ![]()

This thread should be closed at once. We don't wana talk abt. If we start a poll abt the most pathetic player of the world rite now, $hevchenko will win it by a mile crushing the likes of Beckham, Adriano, Recoba, Veron, Riquelme etc

If he stayed on at Milan, he would have gotten his Italian citizenship but no!! he moved to chelsea where he isn't getting enough playing time as well. In Milan, they would have given a lot of playing time as well as an improved salary and eventually freeing up an non-EU place.

During his glorious days in Milan he scores 20+ goals a season. Now, he can't even make a dozen in two EPL seasons.
