Mancini: If I Had The Money, I Would Buy Messi

Mancini began by praising English teams, and once again indicated that he would like to coach in the Premiership one day.

"English football is really good," he told Sky. "To coach an English team would be exciting, because football in England is lived in a different way - there is no such drama."

He was referring, perhaps, to the constant controversy over refereeing, and the criticism after every poor display. Drama there is Mancio, but of a different kind.

You will find Sit Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have a real good go at the refereeing, but one has to admit that it does not get to the level of fans and the media speaking of match fixing.

Also, unless your name is Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger, life as a coach can be very short - even the likes of Jose Mourinho and Rafa Benitez have discovered that.

Mancini was liked with Chelsea in one of the fleeting reports following his shock declaration, but those seem tohave dies down after he chose to stay on.

He also spoke about his return to coaching after reversing his decision. There have been suggestions that he may have lost his hold on the dressing room - something that the Luis Figo controversy suggested very strongly.

"I told them [the players] that I spoke to the president and that everything was OK, and that unfortunately for them, they would have to put up with me for four more years," he said, with a touch of humour and a hint of a smile.

"Everything is back in order, there are no problems."

That his mind is back on the job became amply clear when he spoke about the summer, and the kind of players he would want on the team.

"Gerrard is an extraordinary player. However, if I had the money, I would buy Messi, but it's difficult to judge many champions," concluded Mancini.
